My H and I went to get typhoid vaccines at CVS today, and were told they don't take insurance for them so they would be like $250 each. Does anyone actually pay that much for travel vaccines? Why is the US healthcare system so ridiculous? We are just trying to prevent getting sick and needing treatment, you would think that would be more affordable. We decided to skip and just go get breakfast out instead. I may call our doctor this week and see if she has any other ideas, but if not I guess we will just hope we don't get sick on our upcoming trip.
I am just finishing a pedicure and then going to run a few errands. I kind of hate getting my nails done, but I am sick of my heels cracking so I may start getting these more regularly. I got a bright pink which looks very summery. Too bad it is cold and rainy today!
I just got a few vaccines for travel (Kenya) and I paid nothing (Kaiser)
So you got them at a Kaiser facility?
Both places I tried say they don't run insurance. Today was CVS so I was surprised they don't even try insurance until after the vaccine is done so you would be stuck paying the full price if your insurance denies it. Seems like a stupid system!

PDQ - will DD - but I love how my gray is growing in. I think it’s beautiful. I turn 50 later this year and I have never felt more confident in my own skin.

We had the first open house of our home sale today and our realtor already got an offer for $38k over asking, contingent on us sending them the inspection we had done a year ago and them waiving inspection, which is totally fine since our house was a new build. I don’t know all the details yet though. There’s another open house tomorrow, hopefully that brings more offers or this one turns out to be perfect.
Every day is a roller coaster. I saw my dad this morning and he was doing great and they talked about him coming home and having physical therapy visit or to rehab early next week. Either way, amazing news, he is still in overall poor cardiac health but can leave to go live alone, is doing well etc
I came home to have a celebratory doughnut and we got a call my FIL died.
Then my dad’s doctor called and said my dad is back in the ICU with a high heart rate that they aren’t having luck controlling.
None of this would be good at any time but why does it all have to happen all at once? My poor husband is here helping me with my dad and his dog (who goes to the sitter tomorrow!) and now his dad has died and we don’t know what is going on next. At least his mom is able to handle everything.
I’m so sorry for your loss! I hope your dad’s heart rate comes back down.
Shopping with L for an 8th grade dance dress. The child, who refused to wear dresses for literally 7 straight years and has worn in my presence mostly free t shirts in size L and track pants now is like "ooh, look at this cute cropped shirt" and "I like fitted dresses." She wants a new look.
🤷🏻♀️
I think I would fall over in shock if my DD ever asked for anything fitted or girly. She is one year younger than yours but is an oversized tee/shorts 365 days a year kind of girl. I can imagine your confusion right now because I’d feel the same! Also. 8th grade dance! That came fast. Junior high is mind trip.
DD(9) has a style I would call “Gym Teacher”. Basically always looks like she is ready for a pick up game at any moment. Baggy athletic clothes and sneakers always.
I accept her style for what it is, but I can’t say that sometimes when we go shopping and I see a cute outfit I love that I don’t wish that she would want to wear it. This gives me hope that maybe someday she will want to branch out a bit. I don’t care if she ever wears dresses, it would just be fun to shop for stuff other than athletic wear.

Yes. I’ve never had travel vaccines covered by insurance. I’ve always had good coverage for private insurance and most travel clinics don’t take insurance, insurance doesn’t cover "non standard" recommended vaccines like travel vaccines and most public health facilities that provide vaccines for free generally don’t carry the vaccines that are often recommended for travel. So long story short, yes, have always paid hundreds of dollars (and so has my partner).
We just got back from the birthday party I wasn't sure my kid was invited to or not. They said they gave their kid 6 invites to hand out, and we were the only ones who responded so I'm glad we went! I feel so bad for him he gets in trouble all the time, and I felt like his parents were kind of mean to him. I have such a soft spot for the trouble kids lol. The parents asked me how my kid and their kids relationship is, and TBH they're not really friends but my kid is someone that is fairly friendly with everyone even if they're not friends. Anyways it completely threw me and I was like "oh uh... Well I hear he gets in trouble a lot" lol wtf why?!?! So I'll be up all night thinking of that.
I’m sorry about your FIL tacokick and I hope your dad is back to stable today. I thought of you yesterday when I went to the sheep and wool festival with a friend since it seemed like it would have been your scene.

Thank you! They did seem to have it back under control this morning.
I hope you had fun at Sheep and Wool! I’ve seen some pictures and it looked like there were some good vendors.

Yes, but I’m a Kaiser member. My sister is as well and she was going to get pills instead of a shot for one of them and the pills were close to $200 and the shot was free so she switched to the shot.
Big hugs to you and your DH tacokick. I hope you're able to get a break and breathe sometime in the near future.
Rainy day here. I'm batch cooking for my SIL who just had a premature baby. I am making handpies and accidentally laminated my dough (kids were helping) so now they look more like exploding puff pastry handpies. I bed they are delicious.

I’m sorry but this made me laugh. It is a weird question that they asked about the kids relationship. I mean the options are friends or friendly, so let’s just assume that. Pretty sure if mortal enemies was on the table then you wouldn’t respond to invites.
I ordered some of those samplize paint stickers. Last time they left sticky film, thankfully, we only stuck them partly.
This time I knew not to stick them too much, but I went to move one that was up maybe 2 days and it ripped part of the drywall. Ugh! I know builder paint isn’t great, but what kind of stickers are they using.
That's weird. We used those for our bedroom. Our paint was the shittiest possible paint before I painted our room, but we had no issues moving them around the room.
