I did my run yesterday, and today I did a 35 min walk with the dog. My damn watch only gave me credit for 29 mins, so my exercise ring isn’t closed. So I did an indoor walk for like 15 mins. It did NOT update. Argh!! Close the dang ring!!
I have a pot roast in the crockpot, and it smells delicious! I won’t be home until like 7 to eat it though.
I foolishly said we would host Mother’s Day Saturday for my parents and my aunt and uncle since they’re in town again. We do not have a house that is company ready! So I laid out what needs to happen this week to my family. I’m hoping they make good progress tomorrow night when I’m at a pta board meeting. We will all pitch in this week, so that I can have my own MD on Sunday. For us, we’re doing breakfast/brunch (depends on when we wake up), then yard work. I’d also like DH to grill for dinner, and maybe enjoy a fire in the yard. I’m so excited because it’s so boring and chill!!
Drake is a culture vulture who has a thing for underage woman. He has ghostwriter with gold pens and he's simply been untouched for too long. He's messy and too many people know too much about him for him to not have his crown knocked off. This beef is like...at least 12 years old but reignited last year with Drake and J.Cole collab. Kendrick pushed back with a song with Future and Metro Boomin-- some people think this was a real response to a lack of response from Drake to "Hiss" (Nicki Minaj and a mountain of snow responded on his behalf for no reason). Drake had a good comeback with Push Ups and some funny petty stuff that involved Uma Thurman and a drum line outside Magic City 😂
But then Kendrick literally decimated him this weekend with like 4 songs and some funny cover art.
Drake should absolutely be quiet and hang back with his bagged milk until we all move on to something else and need a bop of his for the summer.
More helpful background. Thank you. The most helpful was the guy in the video pointing out that a common theme is Drake inserting himself into other people's drama.
sofamonkey, that damn exercise ring! I get so annoyed that it can’t average for the week. I do an hour Monday and Sunday. Thursday and Saturday are usually 90 minutes. Which more than covered 30 min/day. But nooooooo.
I don't ever want to move an entire office again. Too many people with too many opinions that aren't actually in the office all the time. I also ended up hurting my foot again last week doing who knows what when moving things.

I’m so over this year.
These last few weeks of school my 15yo has had a ton of testing. We have had a very delicate balance of after school review, some paid tutoring, sports, schoolwork, etc. so today he was supposed to have a review for testing, but the teacher cancelled it last minute because kids were brain dead from the end of course bio exam they had. Ds showed up and no one was there so I had to quit what I was doing, run and get him and now tomorrow he has paid tutoring when she rescheduled it for. The test for the paid tutoring is Thursday and the other test is Wednesday so they both need to happen. He’s at the end of his rope and pitched a fit about going to his baseball practice. Unfortunately he’s already missed a few practices because of testing and needing to study. So I made him and he’s not happy about it.
This week is going to be so busy - I have to watch student presentations in the evenings Monday-Wednesday. I also see the dermatologist and the eye doctor this week, plus I have to go into the office Wednesday and our new dog sitter is stopping over to meet the pets and then take the dog on a walk a different day. Somewhere in there I need to finish grading stuff, too, since the class I'm teaching ends on Sunday and then I only have 2 days to submit grades afterward. Plus my regular job, lol.
I still haven't figured out a mother's day gift for my mom. She is coming to visit in a month so I'm thinking of just telling her I'll give her something in person. That seems like cheating though. I just really can't think of a single thing. I wish she lived locally so I could just take her out to lunch or something.
I don’t think that’s cheating. Of course I don’t know what your relationship is with your mom but at the age I presume your mom is they don’t want more stuff just to have stuff. Especially if she’s coming to visit soon I think it’s totally ideal to maybe send a card and let her know you plan to treat her to a special day when you all are together. That’s at least how things are in my family. And although I’m only a very new mom I can’t imagine I’d ever be upset if my child didn’t get me a physical gift.
The MN Timberwolves (NBA) are in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and tonight's game does not START until 9PM here. That is my bed time. Of course, I am too excited about the game to even attempt to nap.
I have been having to mute people on IG so much lately.
There is one influencer who is almost constantly complaining about her fourth kid. And I’m thinking I hope this kid doesn’t find out later how you talked about her online.
Jumping through the monthly ADHD med refill craziness for DS1. Just called the psychiatrist's office to follow up on a med refill request. I requested it earlier this morning after finding it in stock and thought it was odd that I hadn't heard back. The woman answering the phone reminded me that they need 48 hours.
On a Monday, for a controlled substance that I can't refill more than a few days early, during a shortage that requires ME to call around and find it in stock before requesting the refill.
Oy, yes. It’s ridiculous. Last month, I called in to refill one kid’s meds. There are no refills. What?! We discussed this with the doc. Calls to the office and its phrasing only. The doc calls in 3 separate scripts, so there is no refill. I have to call for a new script to be filled, which the pharmacy has. This is the upgrade after finding the correct meds and having to pick up a script from the office before. It’s fine, but it’s driving me crazy.
This is what our doctor told us too. You can’t ask for a refill. You have to tell them there’s a prescription to be filled. I find all of the hoops so fucking bizarre. Thankfully there doesn’t seem to be a shortage issue here though.
A friend of mine and I firmed up plans today to do a long hike at a local state park on Mother’s Day and I am now very much looking forward to the day. Hopefully DH figures out something nice for dinner to round out the day.
I need to figure out a good solution to carry the puppy in case she gets tired. I think we’re going to end up doing like seven miles. I’m not sure her tiny little legs will hold out that long.

It's only cheating because it buys me more time to think of something, lol. She does not care at all whether or not I buy her something - she would tell me not to. But she has also been delighted in the past when i have gotten her something thoughtful, so she is a fun person to buy gifts for!
Goddamnit, I have a cavity. I can’t remember the last time I had one!
I'd get another opinion.
My sister and I both had 2 cavities, in the same year, in the same "sealed" 12 year molars. We didn't even know until we compared a few years later. Those were likely legit.
At the same time, and for quite a few years after, dentists swore up and down, mostly from the same office, I needed fillings in a bunch of teeth. That's been about 20 years since the first said I definitely needed them, and not a single person in the last 15 or so years (which is a lot of people given my move history) has even mentioned those suspect teeth.
Yes, I know, not all dentists. And I'll even say some of my closest friends are dentists! But that constant pressure to fix what apparently was never wrong has really left a sour in my mouth (sorry, couldn't resist).
The denitisst on board will probably come after me for this, but let it go if you're not in pain and go to a different person at your next checkup and see if it will be dfferent . I'd never had a cavity until my 20s (and only those molars, dad and aunt have still had zero), and all of a sudden they want to drill 8 teeth? Nope.I'm just super distrustful after all that. I say this as someone with an implant for ortho reasons and so so many years of other ortho intervention. I have loved my orthos through the too many years.

She may want to keep up, but while she's still growing that kind of long duration isn't good for her. Honestly, I wouldn't bring a puppy on a seven mile hike. I think this is a good option for carrying, but it might take some training for her to be comfortable with it: www.k9sportsack.com/
I think it probably is normal to not get a note if your kid is older than preschool age.
We only get notified if it’s a nurse visit.
This definitely warranted a nurse visit. These were huge scrapes and cuts. I'll let it go, but I'm not happy that he was hurt so badly and no one reached out.

We would have gotten a call in this situation given how hurt he was. I'd be annoyed as well.

I appreciate that! But I did have some pain that I mentioned to him and was due for X-rays anyway. He said nothing looked off visually, but then saw the X-rays and went, “well, damn! There’s a cavity there!” lol and I’ve been seeing this guy for 7 years now and he’s never found anything before. I had a ton of cavities as a kid and maybe 2? As an adult. So I trust him. But I know some can be shady.

Yes I get notified for much less than this. I would also not be happy.

You are correct, it's not a refill, it's a standing order in his mychart for a new script to be filled every month. We were JUST in the office two weeks ago for a med check. But, since it's a controlled substance, I couldn't fill it after his appointment, I need it pushed through within the 25-30 day window where the pharmacy can release it. So I'm not talking to anyone, I just request it to be called in within the portal, after I call around to find it in stock. Usually, within an hour, I get a popped-back message that it's been called in.
This has worked with this office every month for over two years now, and it's a psychiatrist's office, not just the pediatrician's, so I would hope they would be even more aware of the ADHD med shortage that we're in, along with prescribing controlled substances and the regulations around it. Someone must have been brand new yesterday.
DH ended up having to call the after-hours line to get the med pushed through before the pharmacy closed. And then the doctor's office sent it to a different pharmacy that's not even in his chart, which I didn't realize until I showed up at the one I had requested it for and they didn't have it. FML. By pure luck, the one they called it into had it in stock, and after hitting multiple pharmacies in one evening, I finally picked it up, along with my blood pressure meds, which I popped in the car.

I'm glad you said something. It's been so long since I had a puppy that I didn't even think about that! I might leave her home for this one. Thank you!

It feels wrong to go for a hike and leave your dog home, right? Sometimes it's the right decision though. Next summer she'll be a great hiking companion!
