I’m finding mixed info. I think it will be at a castle about an hour outside of Edinburgh? Mid-December. Bride is English/American, groom is Scottish, both are in their 50s if that matters.
Can I wear this dress again with a shawl or something?
Or if you have any recommendations for a new dress under $300…
It's pretty, but you will likely want something warmer. Depending on the castle, and where the ceremony is, it's possible that there won't be great central heating. You want something with sleeves.
It will be VERY cold that time of the year - I'd ask about the castle and warmth there to whomever you can. I would not be surprised by people wearing a sweater, skirt and tights to this wedding (unless it's stated as semi-formal or formal). If it's more formal, I'd go with a long-sleeve dress. I'd start looking in the autumn as it'll probably be tough to find a dress for winter now.
I got this dress for a winter wedding last December, it was super comfortable and stretchy but still looked dressy. They have a bunch of similar dresses in velvet, too. The neckline is low but you could do a lace shell underneath or just embrace the boobies.
