we just got back from a week in stockholm & absolutely loved it. i really wish moving there was feasible.
including places we didn't get to and some food/drink feedback below. we're cocktail nerds and it's going to be hard for any future trips to measure up to stockholm. thanks to dutchgirl678 for the omnipollos hatt rec. their pizza was delicious. we can't really drink beer anymore but they also had a collaboration with richmond (VA) breweries!
feel free to ask questions if you want more specific itinerary info. we used the visit stockholm site a lot: www.visitstockholm.com/
i think we were there in a nice lull before it becomes really touristy. after a rainy first few days, it was perfect weather for us (60s).
we stayed at the nordic light hotel which is literally across the street from arlanda express. the location was great because the stockholm metro is so easy and nothing is very far. we'd definitely stay there again.

City Hall Tour - book tickets in advance. don't miss this, one of our favorite places we went Skansen - this was cool and the views of the city from there were lovely Abba Museum - H could have skipped this, tickets were spendy and he is just ok on ABBA Vasa Museum - definitely a highlight Spirit Museum Fotografiska Stockholm City Museum (free) The Royal Palace + Riddarholmen Nobel Museum National Museum Swedish History Museum Nordic Museum Stockholm Cathedral House of Nobility
stora was our favorite bakery overall, don't miss the salted vanilla pastry (basically a vanilla-y/croissant roll). svedjan is awesome for the morning bun but if it's not convenient, not necessary. we aren't into the traditional cinnamon or cardamom buns.
the cookies at krumel were some of the best cookies we've had. possibly ever. we went twice, took home a few each time and had them over the course of a few days. the creme brûlée cookie was a favorite. mr. cheeky loved the rhubarb crumble one (not sure on the seasonality of that one) and the original crumb (kind of like a chocolate chip blondie) was awesome. for the levain bakery fans, krumel was far more interesting to us.
stockholm was the best bar city we've been to. almost all the bar recs were from a bartender friend in copenhagen, so that was a huge help. our two faves were a bar called gemma (best overall menu for us) and lucy's flower shop. we went to gemma three times and just loved the vibe from the start. the bar is lower (my back appreciates not sitting on high bar stools, lol). we went to lucy's on a busy saturday and just had drinks from their seasonal menu, which were awesome and the bartender was super fast. we went back on thursday and got to talk to the owners, alex & ola. we got to choose from their larger more traditional menu (150+ cocktail). we had some excellent cocktails at black milk, it just wasn't our vibe (loud and dark) and tjoget had a few really great drinks but gemma & lucy's won it for us. papillion in the bank hotel had awesome drinks the bartender just wasn't as good with people as the other places. but it's a james bond vibe and fun for a few drinks.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
erbear, portal and tjorget were probably my favorite meals. liebling was also really great. you will able to bring teens to those. after dinner, we went to high end cocktails bars, so i don't consider those teenager-friendly (places like black milk, lucy's and a bar called gemma). have a great trip!

erbear, for some bars it may depend on the age of the teenager (since the legal drinking age is 18). Most bars in Europe seem okay with teenagers up to a certain age, though specific cocktail bars may be more 18+.

Thank you. Mine are 13 and 15, and while they don’t drink, they do like to sit and hang. But we also don’t mind dumping them in the hotel for a couple of hours and checking out a cool bar without them. Thank you!

erbear, i'd highly recommend at least one night of leaving them at the hotel and having a cocktail date at lucy's or a bar called gemma and then letting them tag along at restaurants. i think the drinking age is 16 or 17 there.
