Don't police normally announce themselves?  It seems like, according to the article, they did not.  No wonder he went on the defensive.

This is the police department which earned enormous ridicule recently when a pair of cops shot up their own cruiser- with a human being in the back- because an acorn fell on it. "I'm hit! I'M HIT!"

If there hadn't been a witness to this murder, they would have absolutely lied right through it and gotten away with it. Something has to change.

The body cam video shows that he did announce himself as a Sherrif’s deputy. But he kept moving away from the door and peephole so the only way Fortson could see for sure who it was was to open the door.

There was absolutely no reason for this young man to die. It is hitting the Air Force VERY hard. I don’t know him, but I bet I know someone who does, and I know hundreds of young men like him who could have died in the exact same way. It’s infuriating. When will it stop?!? How many have to die before something changes?!?
