I'm wearing white pants in the office today and hoping that no one is judging me because Memorial Day isn't for another two weeks. Is that even still a thing?
I’m going back to pose for the art school again today. Short pose, which means I only need to hold each pose anywhere from 1-10 minutes at a time, but they want more “action-y” poses, which I will find challenging. Plus it’s nude this time 😬
I mean, do you really care if someone else is bothered that you're wearing white pants? If so, when is the end point for "don't wear white before memorial day"? Is it the start of the new year? It's always after A memorial day.
I thought white was fine after Easter and before Labor Day? Not that I think it matters but there are a lot of very traditional white Easter outfits and Easter is never after Memorial Day .

You are so awesome for doing this! Finding reliable, non weird models was such a challenge for us. The stories I could tell

Also, you don’t have to think superhero, just that there’s a twist to your hips/ opposing angles and planes. Foreshorten a foot or hand. You got this!

Ultimately, no. I just didn't know if this was still a fashion faux pas. I grew up that it was only acceptable to wear white between Labor Day and Memorial Day for Easter, otherwise it was verboten until "unofficial Summer". I should also add that I'm an old and was born in the 70's

DD’s school is having an event tonight that none of us want to go to, but the book fair will be open tonight, it’s BOGO and she has $17 to spend.
I’m pretty sure I’m just going to surprise her and take her really quick, but to myself I’m acting like I’m not going to do that and I need my me-time right now, lol.

Thanks! That is a good tip and I appreciate it, because I am really out of my element here. Also, I’d like to hear the stories, lol.
I tested negative yesterday, but now H has Covid. He didn't get it from me, though. He got home Sunday afternoon and already said he had a sore throat that evening. He tested negative yesterday and dark dark line this morning.
I found an egg in my garden this morning, we don't have any farm animals so my best guess is a small duck traveled through. I candled it and didn't see anything, womp womp. Any experts here know if I should keep it for a few more days just in case? Put it back? Sit on it?
I was looking forward to having a baby duck or chicken that H couldn't say no to.

I just bought concert tickets for the guy that sings the song I'll walk down the aisle to. I'm ridiculously excited, I've not see him before. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to join his fan club and reach out in hopes of getting a meet and greet... Doing that feels awkward and like I'm 15 again, but it would be cool.

Meh. You're not that old (I was born in the 80s). Wear what you feel good in and don't give a crap about what others think.
@professorartnerd, Please share stories!
I am really struggling with getting into the zone at work this week. I have reason to believe I'm going to have to change focus soon and that really inhibits me from getting into something in the meantime.

I have managed in the course of the day to think it was Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, sometimes at the very same time.
Monday was my surprise at seeing a restaurant post their menu for the day, when they've almost always been closed on Mondays. This while I was chatting with a friend about maybe getting together because it's his off day which I know is Tuesday although previously had been Monday. Meanwhile, I was multitasking and refreshing to see if my Tuesday shows had posted online yet. Much of the day I thought it was Wednesday.
I saw Monday randoms, and was wondering where Tuesday's were because it was, in my mind, already Wednesday.
While I do simultaneously hold 2 days in my head given my location, 3 was a new one. Thank fsm it's nearly bedtime because I think I need a do-over which will feel very groundhog day. No one wants to repeat Wednesdays!
I have to vote in the primary here today. I feel very unprepared and need to do some more research! I kept forgetting this was happening, which definitely reflects my general frustration with politics altogether these days. Can I vote for none of them? Anyway, H and I are both working from home today so we'll probably head over sometime mid day and take care of that.
I also have to finish grading tonight! Grades are due at midnight so thankfully then I will go back to just having 1 job. I do have a student who is requesting an incomplete, but I am not sure it will be granted. He was out for one week (out of eight) for a funeral, but otherwise has provided no evidence of having some circumstance where he was unable to be able to complete his work. But we'll see what the dean says - if the dean approves an incomplete, I'll still have to deal with his stuff after the class is over. I wouldn't mind if it was for a student who seemed to actually care about the class, but I don't really get that impression from him.
I'm annoyed that because my mom is "whatever works best for your families since you have kids" and my brother is scattered, last minute, and indecisive, which absolutely DOES NOT WORK for cross-continental coordination, if there is going to be a family gathering I have to do it all. While pretending to consult with them.
Plus then my brother tries to guilt me about not being able to--I am not making this up--drop all current plans and fly my family of 4 to go stay all 11 of us in my parents' 1800 sq ft house with sleeping space for 8 people the day after my kids' school lets out. Next week (yes, that's early, it's regional). All because he and his family will be there a couple days on their way to Europe.
Like. Go to hell. That's inconvenient, expensive, boring, and uncomfortable. Also, I live closer to an international airport with direct flights to where he is going than either he or my parents do, so maybe come here if "it's important for the cousins to see each other."
So I just told them a specific week summer of 2025 I'm proposing for a family beach vacation. I will reserve the house I want. I will make my brother at the least pay half. The end.
Work is really ramping up, end of the year as a school counselor type of shit. So many emails, so many questions, so many desperate kids who didn't do anything all year realizing that graduation is in 3 weeks.
We have a baseball game tonight. There's chance of rain, of course, so I really hope it happens and we get it out of the way, as we're already one behind that we need to make up later. I hate the constant rain and cancellations because then we kinda get out of "baseball mode" and it feels annoying to have to go back to, days later. IDK if that makes any sense lol.
I need some extra something to get through this week because it's a doozy between a big work event, dance recital and all the extra rehearsals associated with it for kid, cheer evals and uniform fitting for kid and stuff my H has going on. Yay May :/ But then it really slows down for us so I'm looking forward to that.
H will often put gas in my vehicle for me and I love that he takes care of doing that (of course I can do it) and the fact that he thought ahead to all the extra running around this week and filled it all the way is extra nice. I appreciate that he does that for me. And he also knows my favorite doughnut depending on location

Cooler and rainy today. DS1 had his first 2 hour lesson with his driver's training instructor last night. Said it was good and the instructor makes lots of good Dad jokes. 6 school days left here and I'm ready for it as much as my kids. DD has her states and capitols test today and I'm so glad to be finished quizzing her on it. DS2 is being honored at his school's academic awards tonight and I think a trip to get ice cream after is in order.

I thought the white rules were a thing from my grandparents day and not followed by anyone for a half a century. Growing up in a beach and retiree town in S FL probably really skewed my perception.
An acquaintance of mine self-published a book that is pretty much a tell-all about the exact circumstances of her divorce and all the sleeping around she did in the midst of it. She basically published her diaries from the time with all her unfiltered thoughts. I've seen a few excerpts, and it's... a lot.
She still shares a friend group with her ex, and co-owns a business with him. She is encouraging all of her friends to buy the book and read it. It's so awkward.
I walked into work and it was complete random chaos. First, our doorbells to tell us when the front doors open were set to Christmas music bells. Second, our internet was down. I track down the problem and reboot the surge protector. Something happened overnight and the power went out which drained the batter on the surge protector, and now it's beeping every couple of minutes. Called the IT guy, and I'm going to switch everything over to a regular surge protector. However, I have to do it in a certain order or else I'll have to call Comcast (no please no) to have them come and reboot our system.

jinkies, a childhood friend of mine cheated on his wife and they got divorced and his Ex started a blog and put it all out there as far as what he did and what he said and it was so, so much. FTR I feel she was in the right to be pissed at him and I think he majorly did her wrong. Apparently when Ex found out about the affair and confronted him he said "You're fine. You're like a VW, nice and dependable, but once you've driven a Porsche you just can't go back to a VW". My jaw hit the floor and never have I thought of him the same way.
