I need a weekend. I feel like I haven’t had one in a month. All I have this weekend are kids sports things and those are minimal.
DS desperately wants to go swimming. He’s losing his mind. Our pool is still really cold but I bribed him that if he has good behavior at school all week, he can go swimming after school today. So he’s excited. I’m excited to sit by the pool, read my book, and yell “that’s awesome, buddy!” every so often.
I only have to work a couple of hours today, so if I get out of here, it will be three days in a row of no one pissing me off. Which lately, is a record. I'm going to do some shopping to get ready for our trip next week and hopefully clean house. Tonight Dh and I are going to a comedy show and dinner with friends
Tomorrow we are all going to a birthday barbecue.
On a weird note, I didn't get much sleep last night. At 11 pm, I hear my phone going off. Several random texts. I think surely if something is wrong, they'll call, but I check my phone. 3 text from dd. Can someone come help with this possum situation. It's in the chicken coop. Or I may just die idk. RIP.
So I go down there, in my pj's. There is a hissing possum in the corner. Thankfully the chickens made it up to the second story of their chicken townhouse. I try to hook this hissing animal with a rake, scoop it with a shovel, all while trying not to get rabies. No luck. Then dd bonks it on the head and stuns it and the lab comes in and grabs it and takes it out. Which is great, but now we're chasing the lab yelling release! So the dog drops it. The possum seems stunned, but otherwise still mad and hissing. So then I go to bed and lay there until after midnight. I reset my alarm until the latest possible second. While DH slept soundly through the entire thing.
I graduated last night! It was a late night. We didn't get home until around 10, so the kids were wiped. I'm tired today too. But I'm so, so grateful that DH and the kids made the drive and watched me walk. They were so cute waving to me the entire time and cheering. DS insisted on wearing his "suit" to look nice. (It's a Goodwill jacket that we bought him for some dress up day at school one time)
(poof)
This weekend will be relaxing. I signed myself up for a monthly facial package at my salon, so that's tonight. I'm most looking forward to the little neck and shoulder massage that she includes. Then tomorrow I'm hanging out with my two best friends. We haven't seen each other in months, so I can't wait to catch up!
It was a crazy week, but good! And it will be a sort-of busy weekend. DH just left for the beach house. He's trying to get some last-minute things done before we are down there next weekend for Memorial day, possibly hosting part/all of DD2's soccer team. He will hopefully be back Sunday afternoon.
Today I'm working until around 1130, then hoping for a long walk and then deep cleaning my office. DD2 has a game this evening, which they will likely lose. Her good friend and the glue of the team broke her leg a few days ago, poor kid, so she is out for the season. We will race from there to a school dance (she will change in the car in the parking lot beforehand). Then I will pick her up later. I don't know what DD1 is planning to do tonight.
Tomorrow DD1 is heading to a friend's house to celebrate her birthday - an escape room that's full of physical and mental challenges and puzzles, then a sleepover. DD2 wants to have a friend over, and then she has another game Saturday evening, playing against most of her club teammates. The other coach wants everyone to stay and hang out afterwards since this league typically plays other towns, but we have 2 teams in the division so Saturday's game is an intra-town game. So I'll make something for the kids and hang out for a little while there.
Sunday both kids have a 3 hour dress rehearsal for their school play, which is Tuesday evening. DD1 is working backstage and DD2 is in the ensemble. Then DD2 has another soccer game later in the afternoon, and DH is hoping to make it home for that.
I started the day off with a message from ex-H threatening to take me to court if I ever infringed on his parenting time again. I signed up DS a couple of months ago for a play that was supposed to be Monday through Friday. DS came home on Friday (that I didn't see until Sunday evening) with the performance flyer and it said Saturday, which is ex-H's time. It makes me believe ex-H would have denied DS from doing the play and it makes me sad. He also denied science camp throughout the year that I would have paid for because it would have been 2 hours out of his time each week.
Tomorrow I hope to sleep in and then we'll meet my parents to watch DS's play. Sunday will be a riding day since the weather is nice. I suggested scoping out some boondock camping spots in the mountains for Memorial Day which would just be logging roads. Or we may take Beau's grandson out for his first trail ride on an easy trail. I'm torn about Beau's son and grandson going with us, since it will get his grandson out of the house, but it also leaves Beau's DIL by herself with a 20 month old and a week old baby. She's still healing from giving birth last weekend and Beau's son is going back to work next week.
Congrats twinmomma! You and your family look great! What a milestone, and nice that your kids got to be there for your accomplishment.
DD has her last school basketball game today at 4:15 pm, then her football playoff championship game at 6:50 pm. Fingers crossed. It's great for them to have made it to the championship game out of 14 teams, but of course will be extra fun if they pull off a win.
Here, another weekend equals another all-star softball tournament for DD. This one is out of town (not too far, in Orange County) and everyone stays at the same hotel and we have a Saturday evening party in the courtyard that has a dining area, pool, and basketball court. So it's a lot of fun. The rest of the team is going up tonight too for a team dinner, but DD can't because of her other sports. So she and DH will leave at 6:30 am tomorrow for her 8:30 and 10:15 games. Then DS1 and I will meet them for the evening party and then I'll drive back to relieve a babysitter who will be with the little boys. Hopefully their seeding works out to a noon game on Sunday instead of an 8 or 8:30 one, and if it does, I will probably drive back up with the little boys. We'll see.
Oh, and DS2 had a baseball and arena soccer conflict for tomorrow morning. He picked baseball - it's their last game. They'll have an end of season party Friday/a week from today (my birthday).
I'm over our May gray and June gloom - hopefully we get some sun this weekend!
