That being said, I feel like people have their own opinions about sunscreen, so I am not sure I can offer good recommendations. Who knew sunscreen was controversial? For example, I need a higher SPF, but some people will say the higher SPF doesn't mean anything (tell that to my burnt skin).
I would like to get rid of aerosoles at some point, but that might not be until the kids are done with camps and then we can switch back to more "reef friendly"/ be more conscious about our sunscreen choices. There aren't many affordable reef friendly aerosoles and camps always want the spray sunscreen because they aren't allowed to help the kids apply it.
1) I use sunscreen on my face daily. I’m okay about applying on my body if I’m going to be out a long time but I’m pretty meh about applying to my body if it’s not going to be a long exposure. I’m rabid about applying it to my super pale daughter because she pinks up in no time. She’s good about handling it herself ever since she went to sleepaway camp. They make the kids apply and reapply. So for example, she applies before going to field hockey practice.
2) I love the Goop face stuff. DD has Zit Stick A Megashade for her face because she has very acne-prone skin. We all use Bare Republic mineral spray for our bodies. It’s reef safe. I also love Sun Bum. I use the Bare Republic or Sun Bum sticks for DS’s face and both kids’ hair parts.
mommyatty , I guess the only consolation is that we are using way less sunscreen now that they don't go to the daily park district camp. They only need it for the sleepaway camps and soccer camp and one offs.

1) I’m a Floridian of Welsh ancestryand whose mother had skin cancer — so pretty rabid. Even for the kid who inherited her father’s Cuban genes.
2) Thinksport for ocean (reef safe and reasonable), Hawaiian tropic sheer touch 50 is my favorite for the pool, super goop powder for when I need to reapply a bit over makeup, and target or CVS brand in bulk in spray and face sticks for camp where they need to apply it on each other and we need a ton of it. Also very grateful that my translucent youngest is still happy to wear rash guards everywhere.
1. I'm very pale (originally a redhead) and of Irish descent, so I do try to wear it. But I balance that with knowing that the sun is an excellent source of vitamin D, even better than some foods. So I try to give myself some exposure. I try to wear it on my face, and I'll definitely wear it if I'm out for a long time. But taking the dog for a 30 min walk? I probably won't wear it. I also wear hats pretty much all summer. Even with sunglasses, I have to squint when it's bright, which gives me headaches. A ballcap or bucket hat helps with that. If I'm supervising at the pool, I'm mostly in the shade. DD1 is the palest of pale redheads, so I'm a little crazy about her wearing it. DD2 has DH's skin and doesn't burn nearly as easily.
2. For my face, I use Kiehl's or Cerave. Body - I try to use some sort of physical barrier, especially at the beginning of the season. So something with zinc to start, then a spray if at the beach and we need to reapply.
1. when I'm on the water rabid because I fry so easily. When I'm in Eastern Oregon rabid because I fry over there quicker. At home in the yard not great signed the lady who is still fried from her Mother's day yard work.
2. I don't really worry about reef safe unless we are traveling as our ocean water temp is about 50 degrees so the only way a sane person gets in is if they are in a full-on wetsuit. I will walk at the water's edge barefoot, but no way will I swim. We have a variety of spares and rub on both mineral and not. Sprays have their purpose and make reapplying easier especially if you are sweaty.

1. I am very strict in wearing sunscreen and making sure DS has it on when we're out in the sun for more than 30 minutes during our three months of summer since I hate getting burned. The rest of the year I don't worry since we're always so dark and gray here. I do wear daily face moisturizer with SPF in it. I always have to remind Beau to put it on his grandson when we have him since he's blond hair, blue eyes, and very fair complected. Beau rarely puts it on himself since he'd rather burn and get tanned.
2. I like Sun Bum but hate the price. I usually only buy it when it's at Costco. I buy Banana Boat most often.
1. Not rabid in our day to day lives. If we're to a point I think we will burn (ie: I know it will be hours in the sun for a soccer game, we're at the beach, pool whatever), then we'll load up, but for regular sun exposure, I weight heavily towards getting the benefit of sun exposure against the risk of getting burned. I generally push sunscreen more on DH and DD, since they burn much more easily than I do for me or DS.
2. We use whatever is on sale at Costco. Except for my face, since I don't like having an oil slick on my face. I alternate between brands though and haven't found anything I love enough to recommend.
I'm a red headed Irish girl. So for me and sunscreen, the limit does not exist.
I love Sun Bum, but I buy it when it pops up on sale on Amazon, I don't pay full price. It's definitely been some of the best for me, especially when I go to Mexico for work. I also buy the Target brand sport version. It works well for the kids and is much less expensive.
For my face, I like the ELF suntouchable invisible sunscreen. It's really dry and matte instead of feeling all shiny and oily on my face. It's a supergoop dupe.
I was really not great about sunscreen for myself for many many years, but got really serious about wearing it daily around age 40, a few years ago.
I have always been focused on it daily for the kids. We live in San Diego and my kids all have red or blonde hair and blue eyes.
My fave for daily face/neck use is EltaMD. Then we have SunBum face lotion and the Banana Boat or similar spray for whole bodies/if we will be out in the sun.
1. I'm pretty adamant about sunscreen. I put lotion with SPF 30 on my face everyday. I've been doing this since I was in my 20's. In the summers, I lather myself up before leaving the house. I've known too many people with skin cancer to not be slightly nervous. I also live in a high altitude area, so the sun can be rather intense.
I spend a lot of time outside, so I usually have a decent base, but I'm mostly German and Czech heritage and have rather fair skin. Read - easy to burn. H is part Jewish. He and the Ds rock this heritage and don't burn as quickly as I do. Nevertheless, I'm still strict about the sunscreen.
2. No Add is my favorite brand of sunscreen. It doesn't feel greasy and it doesn't have an obnoxious smell. I also like the Trader Joe's sunscreens.
