Friday before the long weekend!

It's finally Friday!  What do you have planned for the long weekend?

supertrooper1 , We still have nothing much planned. DH has a 10 mile race and normally we would go and support him, but it is a 5:30 am leave time so he offered to just meet us for breakfast afterwards. So we have breakfast out on the list.

For some reason this morning, I quickly started going through stuff the kids cleaned out from their lockers and I found 3 school books; 1 textbook that DS assured me that he returned, 1 library book, and 1 teacher classroom book. As today is the last day of school, I had to drop them all off at the office.

I think I am just going to take this weekend and work on transitioning us to summer stuff. Put away school stuff, find our sunscreen, do some cleaning. It is supposed to rain so maybe watch movies at home or go to the indoor amusement type place.  I think I just need some quiet time to wrap my head around everythign that happened in May and the end of the school year.

We wanted to go camping but didn't plan far enough in advance to get a reservation anywhere. The last few years we just camped in a secluded spot on a mountain near us that didn't require reservations, but the state shut down access due to people dumping garbage. It's supposed to be rainy this weekend so probably not a lot of outdoors stuff.

Tonight DS's school is having a 5th grade skate party. It's in the middle of our exchange time, so I'll meet him there and stay until it's over. We may go to a parade tomorrow depending on weather and if DS wants to go. The rest of the weekend will probably be visiting family and little activities that we plan last minute.

My kids are out of school and I have Monday off. So yay! I plan on doing some cleaning and decluttering. And spending time in the pool.

It's shaping up to be a great long weekend for us. The girls turn 12 this weekend, which is just wild! It's my year to have them for the long weekend and their birthday so I'm looking forward to it. We're going to head up north to visit my parents and relax. It will just be me and the girls, DH has to work and DS is with his mom. My mom, sister, and I plan to take them on a shopping trip at the outlets as their gift, so it'll be a fun girls day. The weather looks beautiful, so I think it'll just be a lot of sitting around the patio and relaxing in the sun.

What a crazy week! I unofficially wrapped up my contract position today, but I didn't really finish everything, and I spent most of today packing. So I'll probably do a little more work to finish up a couple of things.

I spent most of today packing and prepping for our weekend at the beach house. DD2 has a game locally this evening, and then we're hoping to head out right after that. Right now, traffic is making our 1h25m drive over 2 hours, so I'm hoping that by the time we're actually ready to leave, it will have died down a bit.

Tomorrow we will leave the house by 8 for DD2's first game at 9. I'll head home from there and get ready for people to come over after the second game. DH will miss the first game to do some prep at the house, and he'll go to the second game. We invited just a few families over to hang out for the afternoon, and then there's a team gathering at a hotel about 20 mins away in the early evening.

Sunday DD2 plays in the afternoon. DD1 doesn't want to go, and DD2's good friend broke her leg and can't participate. I guess she's pretty uncomfortable, so DD1 offered to hang out with her while her little brother plays at a field about 100 yards from our beach house. We may go back to the house in between games - haven't decided yet. And we don't know if we'll go home after the game, or stay until Monday. The traffic will be insane on Monday, so not sure if we'll want to pack up and get home later on Sun, or sit in traffic on Mon. We will see! But it's going to be a busy, fun weekend!

We are staying home for the weekend. Usually we go somewhere. It's always a bit stressful with traffic and looming work/school obligations. DD2 stayed at a friend's house last night. DD1, H and I went to a move - Furiosa. It was great, but I wouldn't recommend for the 10 and under crowd. I'm running with a friend this morning and doing house work this afternoon. Tomorrow, we'll hit up a local art festival and another friend and I will go mountain biking sometime over the weekend.

I’ve tried twice to write a real update and GBCN has erased it - trying one more time.

My birthday yesterday was fun but exhausting. I did a long run, went shopping for a couple hours with a gift certificate DH gave me, worked a bit, and then ended up having 4 kids over from 1-5 because our friend had to be rushed to the hospital for a pulmonary embolism (luckily he is OK). Then we went to DS2’s baseball end of season party and then out to dinner with friends.

Today DS2 had a bday party and all weekend DD has a softball tournament that our league hosts. So DH and I have to work in the snack bar for 4 hours tomorrow afternoon. I also have brunch with friends tomorrow and we’re supposed to go to the pool at a resort Monday.

We are at the beach! Much better than last summer when we didn’t get here until August. I’m sitting on the patio because my youngest has already reached her excitement tolerance and is napping while I have lunch in the oven. The older one and H are still out in the sun proving their superior levels of melanin. The genes definitely did a 50/50 split in this family. DD1 is a beach bum like her father. We may have all been born here but DD2 and I have skin thinks it belongs in Maine. Bring on the rash guards and the SPF500.

I am so glad we are here. Monday it was 97 inland where I live but a breezy 87 at the beach. Oooof.
