We had a good, busy weekend! Friday I picked up the kids from school and we went to visit my sister and nieces at my parents' house. They're in the middle of a cross-country move, and they're staying with my parents for a few weeks in between locations. It was nice to see everybody, and My DD's just love my nieces (ages 3.5 and almost 2).
Saturday started quiet. DD1 had a softball game and needed to get there 45 mins early for warm-ups, so I took a walk near the field before the game started. It was a great game, she played very well, but the team came up short. I somehow got roped in to doing the scoreboard, so that makes the game less relaxing but ensured I was fully engaged!
After that just house things and I spent hours filling out forms for DD1's sleepaway camp (and I was very late with them... oops...). Then DH and I grabbed dinner at a local pub. I've found that it's increasingly more difficult for us to have any sort of conversations at home, so it's nice to get out and regroup.
Sunday was errands, dropping DD1 off at a friend's house 30 mins away, hosting DD2's friend for a few hours, supervising swimming. The weather was absolutely beautiful all weekend!
This week will be busy... kids wrap up school, DD1 has her 8th grade graduation, then we're hopefully all going out to lunch with my parents, sister, and nieces. Dh tried to schedule a haircut over graduation, after we already argued about him possibly traveling for work during graduation, so that was making me a little crazy... but I think it's all worked out.
We had a great weekend and these next two weeks are INSANE. I am taking the 8th grade to DC Wednesday - Friday, then it's end of the year stuff all around. My kids have about 12 parties between them over the next two weeks.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We had a really great weekend - busy, but still felt relaxing. Friday night was the roller skating party for the girls and their friends and it worked out great. Saturday was a visit to a local festival and then Sunday was a fundraiser walk with my company. We had a cookout last night with some friends to celebrate DH's birthday too. Lots of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Unfortunately, I'm paying for it with allergies now. One of my eyes is swollen and painful, my throat is sore, and I'm super congested. Today we're shutting all the windows and barricading ourselves against pollen so hopefully I feel better tomorrow.
It's a busy week here as we head into the last two weeks of school. I can't believe we're almost done! I'm both ready and not ready for summer break to hit.

We had a great weekend. Friday afternoon, Beau texted and asked if I wanted to take the trailer to our riding spot instead of just a day trip. This would be our first camping trip of the year and we wanted to make sure we had everything we needed in the trailer. I quickly did a grocery order and Beau packed up the few things not already in the trailer. After dropping DS off at his dad's, I met Beau at his work to go to dinner and then a concert. During dinner, we decided to leave after the concert instead of early in the morning. We had fun at the concert and ended up leaving with the trailer at 11pm. It was nice not having any traffic on the road and made good time. We didn't get to bed until 3am so we were exhausted.
Saturday we had perfect riding weather and had a fun ride. We went to bed early and I ended up sleeping 12 hours. I don't know the last time I slept that long. We were going to ride Sunday too but it was raining too much, so we relaxed for the day at the campsite to avoid traffic and then headed home.
This week isn't too busy. Beau is busy today and tomorrow finishing a giant bid for his company. They really need the job since things have been slow. I'm taking tomorrow off to get my first dose of Xolair for my hives. I have to sit in their office for 2 hours after due to the risk of anaphylaxis. I really hope Xolair works because I'm tired of being itchy all of the time.
DD and I were up before 6 am Saturday and Sunday for softball. All for her not to play much because of her thumb injury (she just hit a couple times). I'm hoping she's back to 100% by this coming weekend's tournament. We did have a nice brunch with her teammates and parents between games yesterday. And the game times ended up working out so she got to go to her friend's birthday party Saturday evening, so that was nice. DS2 had a soccer game Saturday and DS1 had basketball evaluations yesterday.
Apparently DS3 (who just turned 4) threw up overnight and cleaned himself up and went back to bed. DD did the same thing at his age. I appreciate the independence. He's still at school today because this happens a lot with him - he has a sensitive stomach and his body just needs to rid itself of something bothering it. Fingers crossed that's all it was, like usual for him.
My parents fly in tomorrow to be here for a little over a month at their condo. I'm looking forward to seeing them and it's always nice to have a little back-up with the kids. Next weekend will be a little crazy with them here, DH's cousin and his kids also in town, another softball tournament, and us hosting DS2's 7th birthday party at Sky Zone.

We are back from our “vacation.” It never feels very relaxing with my family, H’s much larger family, and 13 kids running around everywhere but it’s still a good time. No one got seriously sunburned! A victory.
DD2 has vacation hangover this morning. Maybe all of us do. H and I were bickering. DD1 is at least in a good mood and did her chores no problem today.
The girls and I are getting haircuts tonight. First time since Christmas break. I am excited to have less hair.
k3am, oh no... but maybe a blessing in disguise? You've been unhappy with your job for a while, seemed like you felt stuck... maybe this could be an opportunity for you?
They are fairly positive I have a cyst and not something more serious, but I need to do a needle aspiration and possibly biopsy tomorrow
I spent most of the weekend pouting, but I did do my 5k in the rain. A decent time considering and I have not ran in a while. We took dd and a friend for dinner Saturday night.
Dd started her internship today. She was so cute in her official scrubs. I had to take a first day picture.
I had my final day at my contract position last Thursday. I turned in my company-issued laptop, but I also had access to files on my personal computer. I purchased certain software that the company wouldn't buy under my own company license, so I kept that on my laptop and got access to files with my boss' permission.
On Friday my former boss had the 3rd party IT company change my password that gave me access to my email, teams, and to the company laptop. I called their IT company to get all of their files and access stripped off my laptop. The IT company said "no". They don't want to touch my laptop because it's mine, so they don't want to be responsible for anything. They were not the company that gave me access. In my almost 3 years there, we went through 3 different IT companies.
So I've already spent over 2 hours today trying to get this taken care of. 2 hours that I will bill them for. 2 hours that I could have spent with my nonprofit client, or getting myself set up with DH's company.
supertrooper1 , will be offered another role. I saw this as a possibility as far back as November (and flat out asked but was told I had nothing to worry about), but it's not quite shaking out in the way I imagined. Of course they have no idea what the role they're offering me is, entails, upsides or downsides because the company hasn't thought it that far through and they'll tell me eventually.
DS got a cold in the last day of school and passed it around the family. This one is a doozy. Acute sinus and throat pain. The throat pain has subsided a little bit and now I’ve lost my voice and have laryngitis. It’s a bummer!
On a more positive note DH dropped the kids off with my mom and we don’t pick them up until Friday! I hope I feel better enough to enjoy the peace and quiet!
We are done with school so the end of the year craziness is done. Next weekend we have 5 soccer games and then we’ll be done with soccer. I’m very excited!
Sorry k3am, hopefully the new position will be better?
Busy Monday for me workwise and it felt good having a full day of work waiting for me when I came in. I'm taking tomorrow off to deal with my own dentist appointment and then a vet appointment for the dog. Science fair is Thursday so DD has to make jelly spheres 1 more time as her teacher insists she has samples for the display since she did a food thing.
Weekend turned into a mess. DH was out of town which usually means a good girl's weekend but both DD and I came down with nasty headaches and also ended up with the stomach bug, so we were fighting over the only bathroom. The dog had a bad weekend too and was up multiple times at night. I may have yelled at her after the 6th get up to go potty Sunday morning at 5:30. I had been up basically every hour since midnight and just wanted to sleep. She didn't need to potty just stood outside and looked around but barked at the door to be let in so I couldn't just leave her out there.
DH and I officially booked a trip overseas to visit his sister for Christmas with the kids! They're going to lose their minds when they all find out. Of course, DH has exactly zero chill with this kind of stuff, so while he was on the phone with DS last night he casually goes "oh ya, we're booking a trip to Scotland." So DS already knows it's happening before the girls and we can't do any kind of big reveal. MIL and I are kind of disappointed by that, since this is going to be their Christmas gifts from all of us.
k3am, I'm sorry, that sucks so much, especially the lack of information on what happens next. I can't believe they made that announcement without any details for you. Are you the only one in the department?
