Finished What is Love and Calamity. I liked What is Love, but really liked Calamity.
Currently reading Morally Gray. I like the premise. It takes place in a world where everyone is sorted into roles (hero, villan, love interest, henchman, background character, etc) at 18.
Currently listening to The Fairytale Life of Dorothy Gale, which is a retelling of Wizard of Oz with Dorothy as a grad student who leaves Kansas University to finish her studies at Trinity College in Dublin.
QOTW: What do you generally prefer for vacation - city, beach, mountain, or something else? I think I'm more of a city vacationer, because there are so many world cities I want to visit, but I also really appreciate tropical beach vacations.
Timely question for me — this is the last day of our week at the beach. I just finished Elin Hilderbrand’s Hotel Nantucket, which was cute and definitely enhanced by reading it while in the sand. Now reading Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah, which is pretty good so far. I didn’t love the other book of hers that I read, but I found this in an easy-to-pack paperback copy and decided it was worth a try.
I absolutely love the ocean, so I generally choose beach. It’s also part laziness — it’s easy to plan, and I find travel planning stressful. We also have a few days in NYC coming up, and I’m probably more excited about that.
I got Tress of the Emerald Sea again after letting my loan return to the library a few months ago. I forced myself to read the last 40% in basically one sitting. I feel like I should have liked this book more but it just never really clicked with me.
Then I read The Z Word, a book about a zombie outbreak at Pride. It was really fun and kind of silly.
Now I am working on The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen.
QOTW: I like them all depending on the reason for my trip and the season but my preference is a city trip with the opportunity for lots of day trips to nature. We did a week in Edinburgh several years ago and it was perfect for that.
