I have a tax question - we have been trying to resolve this for several years - 2020 taxes! - and are going in circles not getting an answer.
My husband did our taxes using Turbo Tax. Just as he submitted, he realized he forgot to enter our property taxes. He pressed back hoping to stop the submission - and entered them and tried to submit again. It appears the first submission is the one that went - but we can only see the 2nd edited version. It is about $500 additional refund we are owed, and we have no idea how to amend / resolve this.
Anyone have any ideas? It doesn't seem worth it to pay someone to help us and we are getting nowhere calling / trying to do it ourselves.
You can do the 1040x by hand. It's a pretty simple form.
I'm fact, you can probably tell TurboTax you need to amend and then remove the property taxes. This will generate the amendment form with the two columns swapped (because TT thinks you filed the one with the property taxes). You can generate a preview of the 1040x and then use that to help manually fill out the real form from the IRS website.
