I think a lot of folks are on vacation this week... I hope you're all having a great time!!!
We had a good weekend. We left Friday to stay with MIL and celebrate DN's high school graduation. They'd had a wonderful outdoor party planned with inflatables and their pool... and it was such a perfect day for it on Friday... unfortunately the party was Saturday, and it was almost like a hurricane - dangerous winds, heavy rain, some hail... so the party was moved inside, some kids playing yard games under the tent that was set up for tables, and adults playing flip cup in the garage. It cleared up later in the day, so I just supervised at the pool since that was not really my scene.
This week will be busy but fun! Heading to an appointment with DD2, then she has small group soccer training later today. Tomorrow she'll have a friend over while I work and get ready. We'll head to our beach house either tomorrow evening or Wednesday morning. Dh and I will work on Wednesday, and then we're on vacation for a week and a half! I say "vacation"... but we'll probably both work a bit each day, just to stay on top of everything. We have several sets of friends that are vacation in the same area while we'll be there, and DD2 is good friend with their kids, so we'll hopefully get together while we're all in the area.
No specific plans to celebrate the 4th. There are always a lot of options for fireworks near our beach house, so I'm sure we'll find something!
ETA: ADHD/Introvert problems... I made tentative plans with my HS friend group weeks ago for tonight. I just spent 3 solid days in the company of a lot of other people. I... do NOT want to see or speak to anyone... I literally feel like I'm on day 2 of a hangover, and I had 1/3 of a mixed drink on Saturday then switched to water... but if I don't drag myself there it will be months before we get back together...
Great weekend! I went to a girls pool day of an old high school friend Saturday, then DH and Dd picked me up and we went to watch fireworks. Yesterday was a great day weather wise. I did some meal prep and we grilled and sat in out lawn chairs until dark.
3 days this week! I'm not sure what's in store for us for the 4th. I'm sure we will be back and forth from our friends lake and pool. Ds wanted to come home, he's homesick, and I was willing to pay for his ticket, but he's still on recall, so we'll have to wait until August.
It is nice, being a working parent, now that I have advanced in my career, to be able to offer him the ability to fly home. That's definitely not something I'd been able to do years ago.

Beau and I had a good weekend. We made good time to our usual camping spot 3 hours away only to find out that it was completely full. It's a first come first serve campground with about 15 spots, half of which our trailer will fit in. We pulled in and saw people in the first spot, which I've never seen anyone there. It's usually half full at the most. We ventured up the mountain a bit and found a nice spot at the top of one of the trails we usually ride. It turned out to be a great place to camp minus it being a little too close to the road and we got some dust from people driving by. We hit some of our usual trails but also ventured out onto a logging road that we've always wondered where it went. We rode almost 100 miles over two days which is a lot for us, but it was a lot of fun.
The only bad thing was we missed Beau's mom's birthday. I had reminded him a couple weeks ago about it, even sending him some Pandora charm ideas, but then I mentally got busy planning our next two weeks with DS and forgot. He doesn't remember birthdays. We don't have cell service where we camp and he got the text on our way home that they were having a birthday dinner for her while we were gone. Not our fault they planned it at the last minute, but Beau did feel crappy about forgetting his mom's birthday.
This week will be busy. I work 3 days and then have the rest of this week off plus the following two weeks. It's my two weeks with DS for the summer that is in our PP. Our first week will be camping with my parents and then I still need to plan out the next week. Beau has to work, so it will probably be staycation type things. The only thing left to do for camping is to go grocery shopping which includes Costco and I'm dreading going there. Beau also needs to pick up his food contribution to his son's 4th of July party which will be hot dogs and hamburgers. Before I met Beau, they used to go all out, tons of people, thousands of dollars in food (think steaks), alcohol, and fireworks, but it kind of sounded like a stupid drunk fest. But no one wants to spend that type of money anymore and it is mostly Beau's son's friends. We're not even camping there this year and I'm happy about that.

I had a breast reduction Wednesday! I am now 3.5lbs of boob lighter. Recovery has been pretty easy once I was no longer loopy from the anesthesia (I’d rather not ever do that again) but this weekend was all about rest. We just loafed around, watched movies, played board games.
We don’t have much going on this week. No camp for the kids. I have my post-surgery check tomorrow and I’m hoping H will ease up on the hovering a bit. I will also start easing back into work. If still feeling well, we will have dinner with my parents and brother on July 4 and watch their neighborhood try and blow itself up, as is the annual tradition, and likely the kids will want to stay with their grandparents a night or two.
Last week was a doozy with a 3-day training class followed by a 3.5 hour exam. Then DS1 and I had belt testing for taekwondo on Friday. It started with a 2.5 mi run followed by a fitness test, forms, board breaks, and sparring. The whole test was 4 hours long and we were exhausted by the time we were done! On Saturday, I went to the belt ceremony and then we went to dinner with my mom and then watched some local fireworks. On Sunday, I donated blood and then napped the rest of the day. I'm so glad that this week is a short week. However, we are hosting our annual birthdays celebration for DH, DD, DS1 and me on Saturday (all of our birthdays are in July and DS1's bday is 8/2). So at some point the house and back yard need to be cleaned.
We had a great vacation last week in Rapid City, SD. We saw the Badlands, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and more. We also had time to relax, and DH ziplined. I didn't realize SD was so long to drive through- stayed on 90 the entire day basically.
I'm back to work and things seem OK here, so that is good!
We have the professional soccer game Wed plus fireworks so that is basically our 4th plans (on the 3rd). Even our town does their celebration on the 3rd. So basically we will just sleep in and lounge around on the actual 4th. I am not sure if I should take Friday off as it will leave us a bit short, maybe Wednesday would be the better option. I work Saturday, so I need to take another day off. Saturday DH and the kids are going to the women's game, and I don't think we have Sunday plans.
Ended up having a girls weekend at home. Saturday we did nothing but lounge around and watch TV. Sunday I primed DD's room goodbye lilac purple! I'm very sore today.
Busy short week. Workwise I'm swamped and am prioritizing by pay date. DD has gymnastics stuff Mon-Wed this week. The dog has her arthritis shot Tuesday night. I had a bad eye appointment Friday and am waiting for a call back from the eye specialist. I have something going on with my retina (possible tear) and may end up with eye surgery.
We leave Thursday to go visit friends in Eastern Oregon. They have way less fireworks than we have so it is extremely helpful for the dog. I will still need to drug her up but not to the extent if we stayed home. No major plans as our friend is still recovering from surgery.
I have an appointment with the eye specialist Wednesday. It is a 2 hour appointment so maybe surgery then. They didn't give much information but my eye doctor warned me that this guy is a genius but has crappy bedside manners that he 100% admits to. I'm kind of freaking out and have been Dr Googling it.
We had a really fun weekend celebrating DD1 's birthday and the birthday of a good friend:)
This week is short but long. Neither D has a camp. I'm trying to WFH, but keep getting interrupted, so I may go into the office tomorrow. We are going to a music festival for July 4-6. We get home the night of July 6 then drive DD1 to an all week music camp first thing in the morning July 7. DD,1 is a very organized packer, so she'll be ready for all of this by the end of the day today 🌞
We got back from Europe this morning. It was a super long day and we’re trying to stay up to a normal time to get back on schedule but I’m tired!
I have to work tomorrow. I have jury duty Wednesday. We’re going to Willie Nelson’s July 4 picnic on Thursday — includes Willie, Bob Dylan, Maren Morris, Allison kraus, Robert Plant. Should be fun!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We’re in Washington state with three other families we travel with every year this week (two families live in the Portland area and one in Boulder) - so 10 kids ages 4-12 and 8 adults.
We rented a whole B&B and the house is pretty amazing. But it’s obviously pretty crazy with all the kids - only one other family has a boy, so I think they’re a bit horrified by my two older boys trying to kill each other constantly.
We went to Orcas Island yesterday, Whidbey Island today, and head to San Juan island tomorrow. Then on Wednesday just my family heads to the Olympic national park area. I’ve hit the nice part of a trip where we have settled in but not yet dreading it ending.
