Who wants to help analyze a dream?

Well, a snippet of a dream that has occurred for many, many years.

Backstory: My younger brother died in 1986 when he was 6 years old.  It was very sudden, tragic and devastating to our family. My mother kept most of his toys, school papers, and some clothes (as would I as a mom).

I have dreams where my mom is moving (which she did in 2005 from Portland back to the East Coast) and for some reason, my brother's old things were forgotten in the garage.  Not just in the garage, but under the garage, way back in some secret compartment thing. In the dream, the thought of climbing in and retrieving my brother's items gives me a sense of panic and fear.  And the compartment is very hot and bright. 

In real life, there was no compartment, and my brother's things were stored inside the house, not the garage.

What on earth could this mean?  Do I have some unresolved feelings from his death?  I ask because I had this portion of the dream again last night.

Guilt for moving on without him.

Because this is a reoccurring dream I took as more of an action might help. The action might be actually going through his things, creating your own memory box or a photo album. I see it as a manifestation of grief and anxiety like others said due to a fear of forgetting him/ leaving him behind.

When I was in college, I learned a dream theory that everyone and everything in the dream is you. The people and things you see are your brain’s way of working out the feelings that you are trying to work out about your own life. They are all symbols and aspects of you.

I’m pretty sure it was from Carl Jung.

So, by thinking of this framework, what is your brain working out with your brother’s box? In and under the garage? How are these symbols and images actually you?
