It was a pretty quiet week. Super frustrating from a work perspective, and DH and I were butting heads a lot. DD2 had a great week at soccer camp despite the heat, and came home smiling every day. She spent a lot of time with her BFF, and she ended up sleeping over last night.
I'm heading to get my hair cut and colored shortly. My accounting software, which should have been fixed on Wednesday, appears to be partially fixed but still not working. So I still can't to a lot of my job. DH is asking me to do other stuff that I'm questioning - it's marketing stuff and it is, quite frankly, a terrible idea... like, damaging... but he is insisting that I do it and I'm tired of arguing with him, so I will spend my afternoon on that.
DD1 comes home tomorrow!! I'm so excited to see her after 4 weeks. DH will pick her up first thing in the morning, and they'll be home around noon. We'll probably go to her favorite restaurant for lunch, and I'll spend 2-3 days doing smelly camp laundry while she sleeps - which is a-ok with me! DD2 is pushing me to bring her to a family fun night run by her BFF's church tomorrow evening, but I'm letting DD1 drive our decisions for the weekend.
Sunday I might see if DD1 is up to having my parents over. They miss her when she's gone and love to see her when she comes home. We'll see!
This week was very stressful though all good. DD and I got back from her camp last night. She loved it, except at the end they played in a scrimmage, and there was one scrimmage where her team was just hideously overmatched. 4 goals were scored on her team in a very short time, and she was in tears. And then was embarrassed she was in tears. But she got an award for Most Improved Goalkeeper, and I told her I thought she did an amazing job.
I got through my big potential client presentation, and I think it went well.
Tomorrow is crazy. I’m getting a haircut. DS has ninja, then a couple of hours later there’s an open house for a new ESports team/place. He really wants to do ESports, and I think it will be great for him, so we will see. Then I’m going to lay on the couch and make DD listen to more of the audible book we started on our car trip home.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I am supposed to be flying today. Literally. We shall see.
Oof. Good luck! I’m hearing that JetBlue has been largely unaffected by this mess…
Southwest is unaffected… Of course I didn’t find that out until I got to the airport super early just in case. I usually target getting to the airport 10 minutes before I board. Delta is making announcements that digital passes aren’t valid and to get a paper one .. but the airport doesn’t look too bad
I made it through my quarterly events week in the office. Our big summer party went well, minus the insane heatwave that had our entire staff outside from 12-4 while it was 95 degrees out. We had some shade and lots of water for people but it was definitely rough. Thankfully no one complained because they knew it was out of our hands.
I have no plans this weekend. DH is working the whole time with multiple catering events. I'll likely just do laundry and read a book. Since finishing grad school I have read so many books for fun!
I had a big meeting this morning, not a chill Friday. Good news is that dd got her hair done and loves it. It's taken 2 appointments and $300 to fix the damage from the other hairdresser, but she finally got what she wants. Blondish, but not too blonde and with deminsion as she puts it.
Dh and I may go see our favorite band downtown and go eat. They are the first band so hopefully we won't be out late.
We all are going to a pool party shrimp boil tomorrow so that should be fun.
My 3 boys and I flew cross country today from San Diego to Boston. So the global outage news was exciting when we woke up. Luckily Alaska Airlines seemed ok in terms of the actual flight - just we had no wifi. Luckily we had enough downloads.
Now we’re at a residence inn in the Boston area that got excellent reviews but seems quite crappy to me - maybe it’s just because I was at a 5-star hotel for my conference earlier this week? At least we’re only here for one night and the kids are happy.
TGIF! DD1 had some awful mood slumps this week. She's been having trouble with her periods and this certainly factored into her crappy, grouchy moods. Today, she seemed to really come around, so I'm hoping we're into calmer waters for a few weeks.
We are fostering a puppy for a few days. She's been wonderful so far. I wouldn't be surprised if H falls in love and adopt her....I'd also not be surprised if we all agree by this time next week that puppies are a lot of work and to not do this again.
Tomorrow morning, the Ds and I are going paddle boarding with a few friends. I'm cooking a few meals for my sister and bringing them to her tomorrow or Sunday. We are (finally!) replacing our dryer with one that matches our washing machine too. The level of excitement I feel about this tells me I'm DEFINITELY a middle aged adult!
