This is fucking awful. I can’t watch the body cam video, but there is a description in this article. The cop has been fired and has been charged with first degree murder.

I won’t watch the video. That poor woman and her family. There is no true justice out of this but I hope that man goes away for life and I hope her family sues the shit out of the department.

This is the SIXTH police department Grayson has worked at since 2020. He should have been recognized as a problem and fired a long time ago, but this is the reality and the problem with our entire system - from law enforcement to mental health to the carceral system. It’s all fucked.

Wow. I hadn’t read that. But I’m not surprised. Once a police officer has an issue they just move departments. They should be “licensed” like teachers. If I do something to lose my teaching license I can’t just move districts.
But that’ll never happen because the good ole boys club.

I don't doubt this at all, but where are you seeing this? I am trying to find an article with this information but cannot seem to find anything.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

This article mentions he has worked for a few departments but does not give details. He started with the current department in May of 2023. He also told his partner not to provide aid to her. Scum of the earth.

It’s in the article I posted.
Grayson has worked for six different law enforcement agencies since 2020, documents reviewed by CBS News have revealed. His attorney declined to comment.

I can’t read it so it might be addressed in it but he also has something like 4 DUIs.
I don’t understand a lot of this but also how does he have a license?!!

I don’t think any article can truly capture the instant escalation leading up to her murder. It takes place over literally less than 5 seconds. It goes from the simple activity of pulling a pot of water off the stove to murder.
Thank god his partner had his body cam on, because the murderer did not. I imagine the police would have had a million reasons why this happened, none of them the truth, if not for the video evidence.

Also, I know for legal purposes, articles use “allegedly” but the murderer did deny Sonya care and told his partner to not get a med kit. It is in the recording a did happen. This guy is a monster.

From reading the article, i pictured a pot with a long handle that could be used to really get some distance on the water if tossed. I also pictured him a lot closer. The pot was a huge pot that requires two hands to hold. She was so small. There was no way she could have thrown that pot at that distance to hurt him. He could have easily just stepped back.
When she rebuked him, it was in reply to him alleging she might harm him with the pot. She puts it down and ducks, and he COMES AROUND THE COUNTER to shoot her, no pot in hand.
My God. She's ducking, apologizing, and no longer has the pot in her hands. He APPROACHES HER to murder her. At his original distance, I doubt the water would have even reached him.

It would not have. You can hear the murderer start to spin the story as soon as the gunfire stopped. “Look, the water is at my feet.”
Yeah, because you shot her to death and the pan dropped.

He was looking for an excuse. He's an animal.
Then he had the audacity to say, “see the water is almost by our feet”. She never made ANY motion as if she was going to charge at them with the water, she cowered down to the ground. If he was actually concerned about boiling water one of them should have gone and turned it off, OR he could have backed up instead of aggressively approaching her and pulling out his gun. The water was never intended to be used as a ‘weapon’ by her. She was petite, non-threatening, and just needed help. Fuck him, I hope he get what he deserves and I’m not even sure what that is.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

He deserves jail. With whatever jail justice for a murderous cop will receive.

I just want to say that I see this & echo all the previous comments. I know that people were very interested in police reform after George Floyd & unfortunately the pendulum has swung the other direction. I do think that Kamala could make police reform back to the national conversation.
This poor woman and her family. There was absolutely no reason for those officers to be in her house in the first place. I hope he gets charged with premeditated murder since he said he would shoot her in the face and then did just that.
His multiple duis and employment at numerous police departments? Just another example of cops covering for bad cops. I hope the family sues ever single one of them for just shoving the known problem elsewhere.

I used to live in Illinois and have family near Springfield. This article also discusses the officer had a serious misconduct discharge from the military (and TW, it has a still from the body cam footage - nothing too graphic but I know some avoid the visuals at all):
