I absolutely love the Olympics. It’s about the only time I watch sports on TV lol. There’s so much to watch, it’s overwhelming. Right now I’m watching men’s gymnastics qualifying (not live; we recorded from early this AM).
Same. I never watch sports.
I have the australian feed on in another window, silenced when it's a sport I don't care for.
I saw the Australian Grace Brown win cycling by a huge gap. Of course through the streets of Paris (always gorgeous) and wet. Setting records isn't likely in those conditions, but I think it was still PR. I'm trying hard to think of cities with more iconic backgrounds for medals than the Eiffel tower. Big Ben, Parthenon, Sydney Bridge? Even Tokyo Tower is modeled after Eiffel. Will LA CGI the hollywood sign for backdrop?
I don’t understand this schedule- based on what it says on my TV, I’m supposed to be watching skateboarding and surfing but it’s currently women’s beach volleyball.
If you had told me in 1996 that one day Snoop would be an Olympics commentator, I would have laughed myself to tears.
Same, and 1996 was the year I graduated HS! I like him, a lot, but was initially confused and annoyed by his presence, but it’s growing on me. He was sitting with Caeleb Dressel’s wife and son, Augie, during the men’s swim relay today. He nicknamed the baby Augie Doggy 🤣🤣🤣.

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
That women’s 400m freestyle was not as climactic as I’ve been hoping.
Katie did not look like her normal self in the pool in that race. I was shocked.
It was 2 seconds faster than her time in prelims 🤷🏼♀️ albeit slower than her Olympic Trials time, but even her Olympic Trials time would have come in 3rd in this Finals heat. Those other two were fast tonight!
I think the 400 is her weakest event, you'll see the "normal" Katie out ahead of the crowd in the 800 and 1500. Her strength is being able to go that same blistering pace seemingly forever.

The physicality and athleticism of events we normally don't pay attention to astound me.
I'm watching men's water polo now. I'm a fairly strong swimmer, advanced scuba, etc. There's absolutely no way I'd be able to keep up for even a minute with what these people do. It's really incredible.
More rain fucking with events. Equestrian is affected. Also, wow, they're doing it at versailles! I reiterate, where else has had such backdrops?

I have enjoyed watching some of the field hockey - right now Japan (women) is playing Germany. Germany should be beating Japan heavily but Japan is playing a really strong game. It's so cool.
I’m up watching women’s gymnastics, and I feel like the coverage isn’t quite as good as Olympics of the past. I’d love to see some of the athletes from other countries compete in the qualifying rounds too. In the past I feel like they used to cut to other teams on different apparatus while we waited for US gymnasts’ scores, but now there’s a whole lot of cameras in athletes’ faces as they’re waiting for the scores or waiting for their own routine. And a lot of weird commentary. I love Laurie Hernandez but her commentary is a little annoying.
I’m watching women’s skateboarding and I don’t really get it. I feel like I see more skills walking by a skate park. Don’t get me wrong I understand it’s challenging and they are great skateboarders (although actually a lot of falls)but like riding a handrail with no other trick??? I can see that anywhere people skate.

Can’t seem to find the skateboarding anywhere 🫤.
My understanding is the Sat skateboarding was postponed due to weather. They are showing women’s skate boarding on Sunday morning.
The women's mountain bike race was something. A three minute gap between 1st and 2nd is insane. The French fans sure seem happy though.
I'm so sad for Puck, she absolutely would have medaled if she hadn't needed a wheel change.
Having commercials every minute or so was incredibly annoying. We'd return to coverage to find the order totally changed with no explanation of what happened.
I’m sure this is a dumb question: if I get a Peacock subscription, can I watch event replays? Do they have replays of the NBC on-air coverage?
Yes. In the app there is an Olympic sections. It has replays. And somehow I found coverage they were showing on the air, and some reply clips from that.
on the replays… if you have the ad version of peacocks we noticed yesterday that the time between when it’s over am available can be 6-ish hours. I think because they edit the ads into the stream. Oh, and the fast forwarding through the replays, you keep getting 2 minute long ads. It was so annoying I upgraded to add free in the middle of us trying to watch it. It was a $6/month upgrade, and I put a phone reminder to cancel in a month. People have mentioned that the delay having the replays depends on which tier you have, so I may not have a 6 hour delays today. But I won’t be able to confirm this until later.

I really expected them to still be in commercial when the winner came across the finish. Thank goodness that didn’t happen but they need to stop making me anxious like that.

Loving the womens skateboard street. There's very good commentary on my stream, too.
I cannot imagine some of these extremely talented girls/women in gymnastics competing against Biles. She probably was their idol growing up, and now she's their competition. That must be so daunting.
Guys, you are going to see women’s foil fencing in prime time! Only one semi is done (Scruggs US won), but the American (Lee Keifer, defending gold) will likely win hers, and we have an all American gold medal bout. And you know NBC will drool over that. If anyone wants to watch live, it’s scheduled for 3:45pm eastern.
Edit: confirmed. Gold medal bout is all American. Keifer V Scruggs. My money is on Keifer.
Watched women's surfing last night ( being held in Tahiti/French Polynesia) and the Olympic Village is a cruise ship! The athletes have private rooms and can access anything on the ship--restaurants, spa, gym, waterside, bars, and tattoo parlor! Sounds nicer than the real Olympic village.
Watching women’s football (us v Germany) and had to switch to Spanish because NBC Olympics had some stupid person talking and then she brought Andy Cohen on and they were drinking. I just want to watch the match!
If you had told me in 1996 that one day Snoop would be an Olympics commentator, I would have laughed myself to tears.
Or that Flav is hyping up the Women's water polo team the way he is. It's a magical Olympics!
He’s been a huge fan and financial supporter of theirs for years! I think I read recently that he personally funded their trip to Paris. I would never have guessed he had “fund a team to Paris” kind of money. Who knew?

After I checked all the results from women’s gymnastics qualifications today, I really thought I was seeing things when I didn’t see a French gymnast qualify for any final whatsoever. They have fantastic gymnasts and are of course the home team - I am devastated for them.
I’m sure this is a dumb question: if I get a Peacock subscription, can I watch event replays? Do they have replays of the NBC on-air coverage?
I subscribed to peacock and they have an option to see all of the country’s teams doing every single gymnastics apparatus. There’s also a live option (which I missed). However, I’m not hearing the commentary on the past event option. Not sure why.

Also…my goodness, France has really nailed venue planning. I mean, they definitely have an unfair advantage compared to, well, the entire world, but still. Fencing, beach volleyball, equestrian, surfing, etc.
I wonder if it's a way to not wear the teeny tiny bottoms that are the norm for beach volleyball.
Those look equally as uncomfortable for running and diving in the sand, but also so much material and hot? Shorts? Biking shorts? There has to be a middle ground.
There’s been a big shift in volleyball bottoms (no to sand and court) the past few years to at allow players to choose what style they want. In HS we wore “buns” that were high waisted briefs. And while the short shorts are still most popular, lots of girls are wearing full leggings now.
Organizers of the Paris Olympics apologized on Sunday for a performance during Friday’s Opening Ceremonies that featured an apparent reenactment of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” amid mixed messages about the piece’s intent.
The tableau included a woman with a halo-like crown in the role of Jesus as well as drag queens and gay icons as disciples; it was crashed by a scantily clad blue man wearing a headdress of fruit — Dionysus, the Greek god of fertility, wine and revelry.
---------- My favorite retort on Instagram was something like "Thing Christians are not outraged by: war, poverty, genocide, greed, etc. Thing they are outraged by - Art"

It’s been a little chaotic here. Reports are that Versailles has tons of mud to walk through and terrible signage. Many sites seem to run out of food.
