It was a jarring juxtaposition between the local morning news and how somber it was, to the Today Show's super upbeat Olympic coverage.
I don't know why, but the third fire that popped up near Littleton took me by surprise.
I think it's the smoke that's bringing me down. Not just from our fires, but from the fires all over. We were supposed to have a heavy smoke day today without our own fires adding to it.
Reminder to wear your N95s when you go outside today if you're along the front range.
I can see the one in Deer Creek from my living room window, it was not a fun thing to wake up to this morning. I knew lots of kids that lived in that area in HS and one who lives there now. Fingers crossed it stays in the open space and forest. I was feeling pretty bummed about it after I picked up DS from practice. It’s going to be our new normal, and living here my whole life, that is really depressing.

Same in WA state (especially central & eastern areas). It's awful; to help my mental state I enjoy the days of good & moderate air quality because it's a 1-3 month portion of every year so it has to be a marathon, not a sprint.
A fifth this evening on the West side of Boulder (different from the one pixy0stix mentioned as the fourth). Fortunately it was small and is already under control.
Aside from putting a real damper on my ability to walk in the morning, we’re fine. But I hike deer creek canyon and south valley park a lot and am curious to see what the damage will be. I continue to hope that it doesn’t impact any homes.
I hate the smoke though. It’s so jarring to not be able to see the mountains. Makes me feel like I’m living in the apocalypse.

This one was set by fucking idiots setting off fireworks.
