lolol.
I will admit, I had a good laugh thinking that there’s someone on his team who is sabotaging the campaign.
I know that’s not the case…but IN WHAT WORLD would someone think that this would turn out even remotely decent for him???
My guess is their either cultists or terrified of retribution. Power hungry latching on for personal gain should they advise again. Any combination, really. Maybe they just know there's no telling him no, so it's not work the risk.

Literally the only halfway-credible explanation I can dream up is that his team agreed to this event weeks ago when the narrative around the election was quite different and everyone thought Trump was gonna sail to victory. Now that the narrative and the race have changed dramatically, they couldn’t back out without it becoming it’s own narrative.
He went and he said those awful things for the same reason he always says awful things: his base loves it. He never intended to speak to the people in the room.
I liked the part where he was asked about whether JD Vance is prepared to assume office if needed, and his answer was that the VP doesn’t matter. This man lies and exaggerates about everything but he literally could not make up one nice thing to say about Vance.

Yeah you can tell the way he answered it was totally dismissive. He’s so not happy with it and as usual he can’t hide it.

ding ding ding. He is talking to his base, not the folks in the room. He could literally shoot someone on 5th ave and his base would eat it up. He can do no wrong, so he might as well keep spewing his shit, his followers will continue to love him.

Exactly. His base will see it as some sort of victory - he's educating them! What a wonderful, selfless, amazing creature! :throws money at him:
My guess is that his cult think he owned them. And that's why they did it.
I have seen some talk of that. But the thing I is that right now, he needs to be trying to appeal to MORE than his base. His base isn’t big enough to win on its own.
It’s great for Democrats, though…the more he panders to his base, the fewer “other” people will vote for him. That plus Kamala’s focus on thinking about what we want for our future and running on so much positivity really creates quite the dichotomy.

Yeah I don't think he realizes that. I think he thinks that everyone who voted for him in the past IS his base, not realizing just how many people voted for him "because we need a change from Obama" or "because he's not Hillary" or "because he's not going to be THAT bad." Alllll those people have woken up, and he has no clue.
Did y’all see that fucker Tom Cotton last night on CNN spinning this whole thing as if Trump is some kind of perfect kind and open man? It was insane. Kaitlyn Collins is a saint for not reaching through the screen and kicking him in the nuts.
I saw that and couldn't decided where to put it - Olympics thread? Trump thread? Black journalist thread...Lol. I need one of Kamala's venn diagrams to show the intersection of all this crazy.
I hate how every stupid thing that falls out of this narcissist’s mouth gets dissected (mostly for stupidity, absurdity, or dishonesty) so we stop talking about our agenda and get run in circles on his. He basks in the attention. And then his flying monkeys repeat it like bots and we have to tell THEM why they are wrong & rinse, repeat.
I know why it’s impossible but do you know what Trump deserves?

————-> “COOL STORY, BRO”
I was feeling this last night when all the news had devolved into how many of the sycophants were repeating this. I'd rather not give it oxygen.

There’s an old Simpson’s Halloween episode where all of the giant mascots in town come to life and start wrecking everything. They defeat them through a jingle that encourages people to, “Just don’t look, just don’t look,” thus starving them of attention. Without attention, they become inanimate again and stop destroying Springfield.
I think of that episode every time Trump does something like what he did at this convention and it becomes a cultural zeitgeist. What would happen if we just didn’t give it attention?

I've been seeing clips of him from MSNBC and I think he's a fantastic commentator on what Trump and his camp are thinking and why they're doing what they're doing.
I'm dying for some interviewer to reply to Trump's "black jobs" comment with, "Oh, black jobs? Like...President of the United States?" and then watch him explode.

An immigrant did steal* the job of the last black First Lady...
* "Steal" in the sense that her husband had lost the popular vote.
The way Trump even said, "suddenly she's BUHLACK," repeatedly. Like saying Black is a dirty word like cancer or something. She's "buhlack." Every time he said it, I wanted to take a shower. But I also enjoyed how it highlighted his racism - he can't even say the color of the Black race because he has so much disdain. I want every Black person who is a Trump supporter to HEAR that disdain and think about their vote much more seriously than ever before.
