I don't think it will go away without Trump. It'll just morph into some other horror show.
This is all just the latest iteration of the same old bullshit, really. These people have always been around. I grew up in Youngstown, OH, which was the birthplace of the original (Democratic) version of Trump: Jim Traficant. He was a loud, nasty, incoherent bully with bad hair, too, and he was popular way back in the 80s and 90s. The only difference between him and Trump was that Trump had the money to take his grossness national.
Definitely not going away. I think it has been too successful to go away just because Trump does. Just watching how DeSantis and Vance have jumped on the MAGA bandwagon shows that plenty of people will be happy to take up the mantle that they think will get them into power.
I'm not convinced that the next generation will be less MAGA. @@ Girls by and large are continuing to trounce boys educationally so plenty of boys are going to keep growing up into disgruntled white men who think that everyone who bests them is a "DEI candidate" and pine longingly for the days when they wouldn't have had to compete on a level playing field.
Did y'all watch the Netflix series, "The Family?" There is so much overlap between them and The Heritage Foundation and far right wing social extremism that fighting for social justice will be huge until protections are codified into law. Every legal precedent that establishes civil rights will continue to be challenged and the far right will continue to try to pass reverse legislation as well. It's not going to be pretty for a long long time.
Yeah, I didn't think we can count on the next generation here. Of course there are lots of amazing youths, but also many who either don't care (enough to vote) or are being radicalized online. Isn't the men's rights movement growing, including among youths?
Ugh. Yes! This is a good point.
Tate and Peterson. It's a big divide in gen z between male and female
ETA There's a direct line from calling women feminazis to MRA to incels and to whatever the upcoming generation is calling themselves. Oh, and childless cat woman as an insult. We ladyfolks must never forget we exist to provide pleasure for men and to incubate their offspring.

@@@@
And don't forget the youths who are learning from their MAGA genx/millennial parents (like my 2 nieces & 2 nephews). The things they tell me... I know they are directly parroting their dad and mom.
I don't think he needs to die. Let's say he loses this election. Are the R's gonna keep continuing with this extreme nonsense? How many elections and midterms do they need to lose before they realize people don't want this. It will be a struggle with R's. I don't see a normal R being elected anymore. It's gonna be someone like Desantis who can give them lots of R stuff and a little bit of extreme for the maga base.

I agree. I think we could have 4 parties emerge in my lifetime because of the fanaticism.
You have the traditional Republicans who don't want a lot of social programs but are also not overtly hateful nor pushing as much policing of people's lives or white Christian nationalism.
And you have some conservative Democrats who do want some social policing but are pro union. Those blue dog democrats.
I could see some new parties branching off as a result.

I don't want him to die before we get the joy of seeing him behind bars.
Remember when we thought palin and tea party fanaticsm was the big threat to the party? Such naive days. Yes, it did cost some people elections but what arose after is far scarier.
