michelle. Thanks for answering. I can see why one would think these women would vote blue. They hold these values, but just not enough to ensure they are available to everyone. So discouraging. It does seem so privileged.
Vance is melting down as well. His plane and Kamala’s landed in same location in WI. He walked with his aides to her plane and said he wanted to check out what his plane would look like in the future. He then started talking to reporters asking them why Kamala hasn’t been interviewed. Video is on X. I mean he’s so fucking weird who does that.

The best part is him asking the reporters a question and they don’t say anything lol

It is still mind blowing to me that they picked someone for their ticket married to everything they don't want - a brown, non-Christian wife who is a child of immigrants with an ethnic name, and @@@@@@ multiple mixed race kids with at least 1 having an ethnic name.
It's no surprise their racists came out in full force against her at their convention.
I read an article that she did an interview attempting some damage control for a bunch of dumb things he's said.

@@@@@
The vanity fair one where she said he only meant to insult women who choose not to have children, not those who have troubled conceiving?

It says she sat down with Faux News on Monday (which was only 2 days ago but feels like forever). As I read it, all I could think was "she keeps on making more and more excuses for him."

@@@ I don’t suppose they would listen if we told them that some of us are choosing not to have children because of the horror show her husband/his party are turning this country into?

The comparisons of Harris / Walz campaign rally’s to Vance’s appearances are amazing. Vance cannot pull a crowd without their Orange Jesus and today’s stop looks like the majority of people are media.
@underthedesknews compared the two tonight, and it was so striking.
And the fact that the media just stood around and didn't seem to ask Vance any questions while also refusing to answer his is just comedic gold. He really has earned the "weird" title. And he just looked SO PROUD of himself for being brave enough to walk over there and say something. You know he had practiced that speech and was just waiting for the chance to perform it.
Also, that plane will NEVER be "his." Can you imagine the outrage if Kamala called it "hers" right now??
I want to react positively to this, but then I see white suburban women that I was SURE would vote blue based on their day-to-day values, supporting the party line and staying red. In Texas. It's grosser than gross. They have the audacity (caucasity) to say that my concerns over LGBTQ and women's rights are exaggerated due to the biased media narrative. It doesn't matter when I give them direct references to the Texas GOP platform, Agenda47, Project 2025, etc. that back me up. They are way too comfortable in their privilege.
I’m curious what their day to day values are that they can support a cheating, fraud, lying convicted molester of women. Is it religion? I’m not being snarky, just actually wondering.
white power and abortion. My sister was friends with these assholes. I couldn't stand to be in the same room
I really think something is up. Trump isn’t doing a rally till tomorrow but in Montana? That doesn’t make any sense. He must be pouting and fussing about all this.

These are the same people who seriously wondered if a woman nearly 70 might launch nukes during "that time of the month" are breaking down because the vp pick signed legislation requiring schools to stock menstrual products in all bathrooms.
Tampon Tim is not the insult they think it is!
I'm not sure if I'm more angry about weaponizing the basic necessity of biology or about Vance denigrating someone's pretty impressive service record.
I doubt it amounts to anything. The news hasn't been following him, so he had to force them to pay attention. It'll be something dumb like announcing a town hall or something.
Maybe he’s going to say he already knows the election is rigged so he’s not going to partake?
Maybe he’s going to fire JD ….
Maybe he’s going to just complain that Kamala won’t do a Fox News debate..
Maybe he just wants to hear himself talk..
All of the above?
I am vascillating wildly between feeling amused at his clear straw grasping and terrified that he's going to do something that endangers the country and the world and gets him elected.

So... I don't actually think his relative silence is all that weird. Someone came pretty close to killing him. He's got to be going through some stuff right now. Whether that's some PTSD or just being terrified.
He's terrible and I don't want to extend him any grace or anything, but I really do think him hole-ing away is kinda a normal response to an assassination attempt?

This could be right. I hope he stays hidden until December. Too bad school kids can’t hide away like this. Or people shopping at the mall, going to movies, etc. I’m wondering if he actually acted on seeing the light regarding some gun safety, how far it would go with his rabid supporters.
michelle mentioned the comfort of privilege. These people are convinced that they have done well by their own bootstraps - no help from white privilege. Their solution is to resist sharing the money they have except to their own families and friend, and not to the undeserving masses. To @@@@ adopt out unplanned or unwanted babies. Ha, I can’t go on. We were at a party years ago before Trump was elected, and these exact things came up. We had a brief discussion and had to leave. There is a lot to that that is really hard to fight. Right now my best resource is donating, because I’m kind of housebound right now and am not a great public speaker. I am more apt to avoid gatherings where the Trumpers will be at.
So many of my professional colleagues are like this. So blind from their white privilege. They like to puff their chests about bootstraps but usually they have some generational wealth, privilege or sometimes both that got them the really expensive and high end bootstraps. All they can think and talk about is money, more money, and winning at capitalism. It's mostly men being vocal about these so called values. There are some women out there beating the same drum but they're a little more subtle in their messaging. On top of all this, we're all in the healthcare field. Granted we are a tiny, largely cosmetic branch of healthcare but boy do they hate the thought of Medicaid. They will vocally demean the unwashed masses who might have to be on it and question the clinical abilities of the doctors who accept it. At the same time they will talk about taking home more money by not offering their employees health insurance because of its volatile and high costs to the employer. (I don't disagree with the volatile and high costs parts, it is a big struggle to offer it at an affordable level). "A lot of employees have health insurance through their spouses" is a very common excuse.
If I had never left the blue and blue-adjacent bubbles where I was raised for a few years in my mid and late 20s, I would not have believed that people like this exist.
@@@@@@@ If the colleagues I know are like this, I can only imagine their spouses are similar and their kids are being raised with the same views and values.

Trump’s just old and lazy. His schedule has been light for a long time. Plus, with the shooting, the logistics for his rallies have gotten a lot harder. His campaign hasn’t had that long to try to pivot to countering Harris. He’s not dropping out, they’re figuring out how he can do the bare minimum to win. They thought JD could do the heavy lifting but he’s been largely terrible.
I’m not convinced that being shot at has changed him that much honestly. He’s not a deep thinker. He isn’t someone who examines his feelings. He’s all just instant reaction.
sent , I hear ya. My H (retired) made a lot of the decisions for our company that he co-owns with his brother. (Trumper). Fortuanately, BIL has never objected to the insurance cost yet. They are amazing that we offer full coverage 100% paid to our employees. Yea, we could have taken home a lot more money but we like to sleep at night. BIL is a nice guy, but completely under his wife’s Trumper spell. And SIL is just the textbook example of white privilege and religion mixed up to make a rabid MAGAT.

This is someone who has had a bunch of yes people cater to his every whim his entire life. His platform is built on being a misogynistic, racist douchenozzle who uses insults to gain favor with the lowest common denominator.
He did not foresee Biden dropping out and he is trying to find footing in a race that is a 90-day sprint instead of a two-year long slog.
I suspect that he has had COVID over the past two weeks and that’s why he’s been lying low and I think today’s press conference is just bluster to try and regain some sort of upper hand or momentum.

Yeah, I'm assuming the press conference is just to try and grab the spotlight again. The man won in 2016 by just being in the news all the time, even when the news was bad. Right now Harris and Walz's campaign is dominating the news cycle and Trump can't stand it.

Oh yeah, covid would explain a lot of what's been happening.
