Guys!! It’s my happiest week of the year! Boyfriend and I are headed to club med Cancun for a week while the kids vacation in Florida w their dad.
They were informed last night that they are to bring carry ons and travel sized toiletries. They are being picked up today at 4. Today we all have haircuts and my oldest has 3 hours of drivers ed.
Going to target for travel sized toiletries for them is not on my agenda. Good thing they have overnight at dads before
DH and DD1 have been camping for the past week, and they're arriving home today. We'll spend the afternoon unpacking. I hope they get here before the rain starts. We're expecting the remnants of the hurricane later today into tomorrow.
No real plans until Sunday, when we head to my parents' house for my mom's birthday. I'm definitely fighting a cold or something - I'm achy and have the chills and a really sore throat. My little niece was sick when I saw her earlier this week so I suppose it was just a matter of time. Hoping I'm just down for a day and back quickly!
Both kids are in camp 9-2 next week. DD2 has been home for most of the summer except for some quick 1/2 day camps. It will be a change to have them both out of the house for a while! They absolutely love this camp - they've been going for years and it's the highlight of their summer. It's DD1's last year as a senior CIT (hoping she can be a counselor next year) and DD2's last year as a camper (she will hopefully be a CIT next summer). I'm having feelings...
Phew, feeling like today would never get here! The girls are in a camp near my office, so I've been dropping them off, working from the office, then picking them up every day. It doesn't sound like it would be that big a deal, but I'm used to working from home now so this is exhausting! Plus, drop off and pick up make my schedule off from my normal hours so it's just a messy week. It continues next week too, but they love it so much it's worth it.
We are going camping this weekend with my folks. It's currently raining, but supposed to clear up by tomorrow morning. The grandparents are so excited to camp with the kids. My parents love camping and go on big road trips with their super nice camper all the time. Meanwhile our crew of 5 will be crammed into MIL's little RV van so that we don't have to sleep in a tent in the rain tonight. I'm sure we're going to have fun. But I'm very ready to just be sitting around a campfire with a drink and relaxing instead of sitting at my desk in the office!
We started school yesterday and work this month has been crazy for Dh and myself. We only have a couple of bday parties on the agenda for the weekend and otherwise plan to chill and rest and try to refresh a bit to catch up on what was a really busy summer!
We're home!!! We had a wonderful family vacation. If you ever want a culture shock, walk down King Street in Charleston and then turn around the next day and walk the main drag in Gatlinburg.
I got up at 2:30 this morning to see Dd off to Wyoming to meet up with her roommates for a fun girl trip. And Ds is currently making his way home for leave. He had to go back to NC to take his girlfriend home.
While Ds is home, it is futile to even try to make plans. We will just have to go with the flow and see what he wants to do and if he meets up with friends.

I only worked 3 days but it felt like a long work week, and I'm even getting off early today. I'm hoping for a better weekend since last weekend was kind of a bust with truck troubles with Beau's son's truck and Beau waking up with his elbow on fire so we couldn't ride much on our camping trip. We have Beau's truck back and his elbow seems better, so we're going to try riding in Canada for our first time tomorrow. We think we have everything we need to cross the border. I had to get insurance on my bike which we don't have to have for trails in the U.S.
Today I'm taking off at 1 for my last in-office Xolair shot for my hives. I have to sit there for 2 hours to make sure I don't have a reaction. I want to hit the gym after since I only went once this week and we need groceries. It's weird that it's just Beau and I again for the 2nd week in a row since DS is still with his dad for his 2 week summer schedule. No plans for Sunday yet but I'm sure we'll figure out something to do.
It's been a good week; we haven't done too much. I worked a couple of days, but mostly at home working on some IEPs. Not too much on tap for the weekend aside from watching a lot of Olympics. DD1 has her first soccer game with her new team on Sunday. We are off to the beach with friends next week!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I've had a really nice worcation (is that a word??) week. H, the Ds, the pets and I are near Seattle. The Ds are in a sleep-away camp and H and I are staying with his parents. H and I are both WFH, but have been able to see some friends and get out for bike rides and runs. We also spend way more quality time with his parents when our children are not around....
We pick the Ds up from camp this afternoon. Tomorrow, H and DD2 head to Fiji for two weeks and DD1 and I make our way home. Laundry and showers will consume much of the next 24 hours. A couple of H's cousins and their children are visiting this afternoon too.
We do possibly have one plan on Sunday. Dh has agreed to teach Ds how to barbecue chicken on a pit with a homemade dip recipe. I believe this is very regional to us, and Ds wants to learn while on leave. Should be interesting since it takes all afternoon. My contribution will probably be sit in a lawn chair with a beer under a tree and make sure we have actual sides and not just meat. Weather is supposed to be great, 80 degrees and a brief break in the humidity.
DD1 realized that she had no bathing suits at our house while she was packing for camping, they had all ended up at her dad's house. Not unheard of, clothes bounce back and forth all the time. But it was her responsibility to bring one back to my house and she didn't. I was going to force her to just wear a kind of too small one that we dug up and deal with it this weekend. I just got a call from DH that he's at Walmart and can't find any appropriate bathing suits to buy for DD1. LOL Bless that man for trying to go out and purchase a bathing suit for a 12 year old girl all by himself.
After a crazy week (during which my car died during a 2-hour drive on the 5 freeway between meetings), today I went to Mexico to wine taste and eat amazing food with 5 friends. Such a nice break.
This weekend we have basketball practice, two basketball games, a dinner out with friends, more softball tryouts for DD, and a bday party at a water park for DD’s 12th bday.
Next week I have three work trips Mon-Wed, including flights each day, the first day of school Tuesday, and virtual client meetings Thursday and Friday!
We have officially adopted a third cat. He’s been hanging out for months at our house and recently decided he’s coming inside, so today he went to the vet. He’s gotten a clean bill of health and he’s inside.
My MIL had texted today that the antibiotic they gave her yesterday had made her sick. Then she went radio silent. I texted about 7:30 this evening to see if she was okay. No answer. DH said she was probably just sleeping. At 12:45 she texted she was calling an ambulance. I went to her house, got her a clean nightgown and some ice chips and called 911. So we are sitting in the ER waiting for an IV and a urine test to make sure she doesn’t have a UTI. It’s going to be a long night.
twinmomma why couldn't your DD call her dad and ask him to bring her a swimsuit? I'm impressed your DH tried to go swimsuit shopping alone for tween!
DD and I went to family swim after her 3 hour practice Friday night. Played in the pool for about 45 minutes. The bummer was I jumped into the deep end when we got there and got a massive foot/half cramp so I couldn't play much. DD doesn't really swimsuit but seemed to be content bobbing around with 3 pool noodles helping her float in the shallow end.
My leg is still bugging me today so we didn't do much other than laundry. I did take a 2 hour nap which DH woke me up from a dead sleep to ask what's for dinner.
Sunday's plan is some minor yard work and more laundry.
186momx- She’s okay now that the amoxicillin is out of her system. We got home around 6:30 in the morning, so yesterday was a really long day. I’m still dragging, and I’m going to try to rest a lot today.
Jesus Christ my dumb ass MIL took another freaking Amoxicillin, thinking it was one of the meds that came home with her from the hospital. So now she’s puking again. What the actual fuck. She cannot keep living alone.
mommyatty , oh no... would it help to get her a pill organizer and just straighten out her meds? Send DH over to do that and throw out that amoxicillin...
I know that's a short-term solution to a long term problem, but at least she won't be in danger from the meds?
ETA: I literally just had to do this for DH. He could not remember if he took his cholesterol meds, so he just wasn't taking it so that he didn't accidentally double up. I just bought him a pill organizer and put all of his stuff (multivitamins, meds, fish oil) into his pack. I'll likely do it for him every week so that he actually knows if he took them. His head is spinning with work right now and he can't keep anything outside of that straight.
I sent DH to deal with her. I coordinated and forced him to execute. So 1) he went over to figure out what she took. He put the Amoxicillin in a plastic bag so she knows it’s the “do not take this” med. Then 2) she was so miserable she wanted to go back to the ER so I made him take her to the standalone ER in our neighborhood. He got in about 1 am. I have no clue what they did for her. I literally sent DH and MIL “Tell them the only thing that helped her was Phenergan. She needs that. That’s it. And she’s already taken Zofran. So don’t give her more of that.”
