I cringe when people donate to planned parenthood federation for example when they're trying to support people getting abortions, so I don't want to be that person.
I'm getting my act together and want to make weekly donations somewhere. I see what appear to be legit gofundme, but not sure if that is the best route or how to watch for scams.
What's the best way to get money where it needs to go? Would love to support families and children, but doesn't have to be that.
Gofundmes for gazans are very very tricky right now. Gofundme does checks on every page and money can be tied up in limbo for awhile. We are currently waiting for them to approve the removal of funds for a family we support. Even though the money is being removed and deposited into a us bank account of a us citizen. The gofundme page is about helping a family in Gaza so it’s flagged and funds frozen.
We donate to the following:
PCRF HEALPalestine World Central Kitchen Anera
I am wary of donating to gofundmes where I don’t personally know the people involved because there are so many scam ones right now and getting the money to the actual recipient if the claim is someone in GaZa, is incredibly difficult with many hoops and has gotten more difficult.
There also aren’t functioning banks in Gaza right now so people are essentially “trading” money back and forth on Venmo like platforms.
I will say that gofundme is one of the few platforms that is actually allowing funds for Gaza. Others will not and shut down the page (launchpad, etc).

I've been donating weekly to Stephanie Shih on Instagram. She's run an amazingly transparent, effective and successful campaign that's helping feed families and get tents, but also has helped 6 families get out.
