DD1 MAY try out for the school play depending on what it is.
However, you can ONLY put your name down for one option, so either set design, crew, or actor/actress. So based on what the play is depends on if she will choose set design or to try out for the play. That rule got stated years ago because kids would try out, not get the part they liked and then try to switch to set design/crew and they were left with not a full cast.
I'm feeling perhaps irrationally annoyed that the director chose a play with so few roles, but there may not be great plays with bigger casts. Idk.
She put down to work crew if she doesn't get cast, but will be disappointed.
We had 65 audition for 30 spots. Cast lists come out Friday night. This was the 1st time my kid audioned and there's a lot of clicky-ness in this particular theater, so we'll see what happens.
Work was great yesterday! It was fun to see my coworkers, get my space set up again and meet the new kinders. I was exhausted last night though due to the busy brain and active body all day long. It always takes my body 2ish weeks to get used to being that active all day long. H and I have already planned ahead for easy meals, some Hello Fresh and takeout for these coming weeks.
I feel this so hard. I plan a super easy schedule for the first 2-3 weeks of school. Usually I am asleep by 8:30 and that's after having a quick nap when I get home.
Have fun! I'd love if you could report back on what went awesome, what you forgot, that kind of thing.
I absolutely will! But I really do mean casual - we're having about 25 guests, the menu is BBQ and we'll have backyard games set up. We're calling it an "I Do BBQ" instead of a reception, which is a bit cheesy but also kinda cute, lol.
