It’s been crazy busy this week and my concentration ability is low. I tried a reread of The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern, but fantasy wasn’t working for me, so I switched to another Michael Connelly mystery/procedural, Two Kinds of Truth. That’s going much better.
QOTW: Willy Bear! It is long out of print but I own a couple of copies for nostalgia. It’s a sweet story about a boy nervous about starting school.
I listened to the Crimson Lake books that Troppo (on Amazon Prime) were based on.
Also read Never Saw Me Coming: How I Outsmarted the FBI and the Entire Banking System—and Pocketed $40 Million by Tanya Smith (started off strong, ended eh)
Return to Wyldcliffe Heights by Carol Goodman (slow)
QOTW: I remember checking out Gila Monsters Meet you at the Airport by Marjorie W. Sharmat from the library multiple times

Finished For the Love of Friends and To Have and to Heist. I enjoyed the former more than the latter.
Started listening to The Partner Plot, about high school sweethearts who meet up 10 years later and fake a marriage to help both of their careers.
Started reading Wedding Issues about a bridesmaid trying to get her best friend on the cover of a wedding issue of a magazine while her "evil aunt" works against her to get her own daughter the cover.
QOTW: What was your favorite book as a little kid? Think picture book age range. Tie between Caps for Sale and The Little Engine that Could
I finished The Night Agent by Matthew Quirk (4*-entertaining) and The Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse 2.5* (readable, but disappointing). I DNF'd The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson.

I DNF'd The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson (I didn't find the book funny or entertaining). I'm currently reading The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable.
Qotw: I don't remember having any sort of attachment to picture books as a child. I remember disliking Babar.
I've been reading A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher. It's fantastic and I am hoping to finish this weekend if I can get some uninterrupted reading time.
QOTW: Several came to mind but I'm going with Miss Twiggley's Treehouse. It's about a woman who lives alone in a treehouse with a dog and other animal companions. That sounds really appealing as an adult too!
A sorceress Comes to Call - T Kingfisher - really really liked this. Weirdly the second Little Goose Girl retelling I've read this year. Cements my absolute certainty that if I ever got to hang out with this author we'd get along like peas and carrots. (lol Vespasia)
Cut and Thirst - Margaret Atwood short story. I hate short stories. They're always over so abruptly. I'd read this happily as a full length story...
Started the Mirror Empire by Kameron Hurley. I might DNF this one. I've never ever in my long long fantasy reading life struggled so hard to get into the swing of a new world and new characters. I cannot get a read on any of these characters, nobody has any discernable personality at all, I keep having to check the map and glossary to figure out what the fuck is happening when some new term gets tossed out and I can't even tell if it's a person a country a magical item - and it's just NOT grabbing me. I'm used to the initial "what the hell is happening?" confusion of new worlds and new magic systems, but this is intense and unabating and 1/3 of the way into the book with no improvement....I'm losing steam.
QOTW - Where the Wild Things Are! Love that book so much.
