I was chatting with a friend of mine last night (we will be A and B), around midnight, while I was in the middle of a closet inventory. He also has Covid and just finished his paxlovid. The discussion was is there secret prednisone in paxlovid? Because he and I both noticed an insomnia with antsy energy best used for organization.
Posted on FB. Friend C chimed in with no paxlovid, but terrible Covid insomnia. Exhausted, but can’t sleep. So similar in insomnia, but A and B are not exhausted.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

Like I know COVID is terrible, but I'd deal with the symptoms before I take paxlovid again. I had issues sleeping because of the awful horrific taste in my mouth, but no insomnia.
(I would take it again but I promise to complain very loudly).

I am just getting over Covid. Did not take Paxlovid and haven’t had insomnia. In fact I’ve slept more than I usually do and even have napped during the day, which I never do.
I had covid last October and took Paxlovid. I didn't have insomnia. If there had been prednisone in it, I definitely would have noticed because I started experiencing adverse reactions to steroids beginning in 2022. (very weird thing, no doc can explain it, I had allergy testing at Mayo which came back negative, it may have been a weird autoimmune thing that have resolved or tapered down).
I took paxlovid when I had Covid in January. No insomnia. Just the awful taste in my mouth (and it really helped- I felt totally fine with that bout). DS1 had Covid last week - no paxlovid, no insomnia.
Interestingly, the only side effect I ever have with the vaccines is terrible insomnia the night of the shot (and insomnia is luckily rare for me). I’ve had 4 or 5 vaccines at this point and it’s happened every time.

I’ve had COVID three times including as recently as three weeks ago. I’ve taken Paxlovid every time and it’s a magic drug for me. I hate the taste, but it helps so much with the racing heart that I get with COVID, as well as the other symptoms.
I’ve had COVID twice now, almost exactly a year apart. I was miserable last summer, in part due to insomnia the first few days, even though I was completely exhausted. I think it may be linked with my temperature rather than COVID though, because it subsided as my fever went down and I’ve had a similar issue the last two times I’ve been sick AND had a true fever (101°-102°). TBH, I didn’t notice much improvement with Paxlovid, but I wasn’t able to get it until testing positive, even with symptoms and my H being positive.
My second bout was earlier this month and sleep was completely unaffected, but I also had much milder symptoms and zero temperature. Hopefully, it won’t take 4 months to stop coughing like it did last year!

Paxlovid was like a silver bullet for me. This summer was the first time I had ever had covid and it knocked me on my ass with a 105 fever. Really thought I was at the end.
I couldn’t sleep before I was on it because I was so anxious about others in my house getting ill. Once the fever broke and healthy family members were jettisoned to healthy houses, I was sleeping easy. No issues with Paxlovid other than the taste. I was feeling great just a day or 2 later.
So, I don’t really think it’s hiding prednisone. But Lordy, the urge to organize at midnight felt just like experiences I’ve had on prednisone. So friggin weird.
I’ve done more this weekend. And I’m sick. Once the fever broke I can’t sit still. I’m still testing bright positive. This is not making sense.
My second bout with Covid. The first (18 months ago) I was had brain fatigue. I remember being unable to read a book. And sleeping a lot.
I apologize that this is coming off bragplaint-y. I don’t mean it that way… I’m just so confused as to what is happening.
I’m thinking the medication is causing you anxiety type symptoms. Check the side effects on your prescription paperwork, does it mention anything that may correlate?
I had COVID twice this summer and have never had pax.
COVID makes me incredibly tired. I slept until 11:30 one day this week, after going to bed at a reasonable hour. Otherwise I haven't felt too bad. I would say the exhaustion is the signature symptom for me.

Here is my friendly reminder for folks reading along, that not everyone gets the taste thing on Paxlovid. I took it with zero side effects, and it really knocked the covid down. Its worth trying at least once, dont assume you will have side effects!
I slept fine while taking it and dint have insomnia (a year ago so probably a different covid strain).

I got thae nasty taste with it but will gladly have it every time - it completely got rid of my symptoms and I felt totally normal the day after starting it. Compared to my non paxlovid experience I will happily deal with a nasty taste in my mouth for 5 days. I would put a bunch of tic tacs in my mouth and fall asleep that way lol

My family is on the tail end of covid also, but with no paxlovid. My husband was talking about how his main covid symptom the last 2 times was insomnia, and he’s waiting for it this time around. Meanwhile I also laid awake for hourrrrs last night. So, apparently this might be a covid thing? I had no idea.

You are probably on to something that hadn’t occurred to me.
FWIW, I finally crashed. And I feel like I can’t move again. I was isolating in my craft room today and got some organization done. My friend wants me to do a couple modifications to his cloak. I suggested he could drop it off tonight and we could pretend it’s 2020 for the exchange.
I had a presumed case of Covid for the first time this summer. I say presumed because I tested negative multiple times, but had a terrible cough that made me almost throw up and then a few days later one of my household members spiked a high fever and had cold symptoms and a very sore throat for days which we attributed to a medical procedure he just had. And then I had some known post-Covid/long Covid issues develop, so my doc said I likely had Covid.
Anyway, I did not paxlovid since I tested negative. But the Teledoc did prescribe prednisone and an inhaler to try to help with the cough and chest tightness. And my sleep was normal until I would wake up coughing so bad I could sleep or lay down. It was terrible. I’m six weeks out and two night ago was the first night since I had it that I slept 8 hours without waking up in a coughing fit.

Not recently, but I took paxlovid almost two years ago when I had covid and had no insomnia. All I did was sleep I was so exhausted. If it had prednisone in it my body would of reacted.

The first time I had covid back in Jan 2022, I think, I had major insomnia during it. I didn’t take any prescription meds or paxlovid. I was so tired but couldn’t sleep.

I took Paxlovid recently. I think I’d been so tired with the first couple days of Covid and slept so much that when I took Paxlovid I suddenly started feeling better and was all caught up on sleep. No insomnia but the horrible taste in my mouth was awful. To combat it, I’d drink flavored ice water (like Mio)and have to use the bathroom more at night which would keep me up. The first time I had it and took Paxlovid last year, the taste seemed worse.
