If everything goes well, FI should be home Wednesday afternoon. He's been gone 10 weeks, so I'm very ready to have him home for a little while. This weekend I finished painting all the walls in our house, now I have some trim left and the cabinets. School starts back up for me today, I'm ready to be back in a routine, but also I've enjoyed my free time. Soon to be stepdaughter brought her new boyfriend over yesterday afternoon and he helped me with a project, he seems really great and he treated her with respect and kindness.
By some miracle, my kid's volleyball team got the practice time immediately after school. This means it is actually more convenient for us to have her on the team than not!
followyourarrow, it makes me really happy when you post about your life now. In the 15+ years I have been kicking around these boards we have seen so many strong women take charge of their lives and get shit done. I hope you have a great time with FI home and cannot wait to hear about your wedding later this fall!
The weekend was so short! Seriously considering making it a longer long weekend and taking at least Friday afternoon off, if not the whole day since the kids are off too. Busy week, soccer practices start for DS, we've got stuff at the HS one evening, plus my actual job, kids' hw, all the usual stuff.
DH and I went to a birthday party for one of his coworkers on Saturday, and because the world is small I actually knew more people there than he did lol

I had a good weekend but damn, it went quickly! My birthday was on Friday, and H and I went out to dinner at a new place that was good. MIL so kindly came to put L to bed (a little before 8 pm) and stay with him, but when we got home at 11 pm he was still awake and talking to her in his room. Omg. So that was fun, especially since his being so overtired meant he also woke up in the middle of the night!
Sat and Sun H had a big work event, so L and I did some errands and went out for coffee/a little treat on Sat. Then yesterday morning I had friends over for birthday brunch, which was very chill and nice, but between that all morning/early afternoon and then cleaning up and getting ready for the week boom, weekend over!

My H and I have started making dessert for us to share all week in an effort to keep out of the kids’ school snacks. The Teddy Graham bill was getting out of control, lol.
It is so fun to have “secret dessert,” and also funny that we’re treating it that way because it is always a crisp with seasonal fruit. This week is secret apple crisp. Last week was secret peach crisp. Before that was secret blueberry buckle.

I had lunch yesterday with the now ex-gf of my ex-h. I think that it was a very eye opening conversation for both of us and I really hope that it helped to bring her some closure. We were each able tp share things that the other didn't know, like she knew for a fact that ex-h was watching me on the cameras in my house before I disconnected them. Also, she returned to to me the Creamer from my China set that he had apparently stolen, she found it randomly in her dining room buffet. Like, he only stole the creamer, wth
This is a quiet week. I don’t have any meetings until Thursday. Just a couple daily/weekly tasks to keep up with. So I told my boss I will be working a few hours on those tasks to keep up, but also sick leave. He doesn’t need to know I have a weird version of anxious energy Covid. Lol
Some friends in my large circle of college friends who still keep up and hang out when life allows it broke up. And it’s one of those breakups where it’s been a long time coming because one is super controlling and just mean to the other. Like berating him in public if he talk to someone he has known for 30 years. And lordy the gossip channels have opened up. I’m all “I hope they both find a way to coparent peacefully and find happiness.” Cause, that ain’t it for either.
I've booked 3 flights in the last 24 hours - I'm going to visit two of my friends in Michigan in Sept, and then my H and I are going to Jamaica over Thanksgiving and visiting my family the weekend after Christmas through New Years. I have a SW companion pass, thankfully, so the latter two flights were a lot cheaper than they would have been otherwise. I hate spending all of that money at once, but I'm glad to finally have things nailed down for the rest of 2024. I assume holiday flights are only going to get more expensive the closer we get, so I'm glad they are booked.
There is something for work that I've been procrastinating on for weeks and I really need to do it TODAY. Which is fine and can be done, but ugh I still don't want to do it lol.
I have never really been someone who thinks they need to pay for a delivery service, but I'm trying to buy some snacks for work and a couple random things from walmart and figuring out a time to do pick up is outside of when I want to leave the house (LOL).
We had a kind of blah weekend. DS was getting over Covid. H and I cleaned out the spare room that he uses as his office (and everyone uses as a dumping ground) and I cleaned out my closet and dresser. I did a lot of reading. And then yesterday afternoon I threw my back out loading the dishwasher. I turned weird to put something on the bottom rack and felt this searing pain down my left side/lower back. I was pretty much out of commission all day. I ended up sleeping okay and it feels much better this morning. I'm working from home instead of the office, so I can lay on the floor and stretch when needed.
I had a Tito's and cranberry ginger ale last night at about 8:30 and I feel so completely hungover today. It was all the alcohol I had and I had a full stomach and drank plenty of water. But I have a headache, feel shaky, and am just generally blah. I've eaten toast and it hasn't helped. Is this what drinking after 40 is like??
lavenderblue , he stole the china creamer pitcher? WTF. ExH stole my favorite scissors the day I packed to move out. I'm still irritated lol.
Yes! He stole a bunch of stuff from me including my can opener, the basket I had on the back of my toilet to hold toilet paper, and even my family diamonds. I didn't even realize he stole the creamer pitcher because I haven't used my China since he left. And it's not like it was marital China either, it's antique China that I purchased before we were married.
Today is my first contracted day of this school year. I get to start it out at the high school listening to the superintendent speak. By 10am I should be at my school getting stuff ready for the first day of school which is tomorrow. I'm so excited to see all the returning students and get to know all of the kinders!
I am exhausted because we are buying a house with my parents, and between all the financial stuff, getting their house ready to sell and now selling my condo, it's like another full time job. Still super exciting though!
Anyone know what's trendy in paint colours now? Our half of the new house gets less light than my condo so I want something warm, but still neutral for most of the rooms.

wtf to both of these guys!! This reminds me that last week STBX brought takeout over the day we got home from the hospital after DD’s accident. I used scissors to cut open the takeout bag and he goes “oh can I take those?” I’m like huh? DD says “dad doesn’t have any scissors!! He needs some!” I said ok go to Walmart (or any store) and buy some. He said we had like 4 pairs of scissors before, you can’t need all of them! I said yes I do, they all have a job in my house. And they do lol. Buy your own scissors!!

We went to the beach yesterday. It was a nice day and we got home around 5:30 and I showered and then hit a wall. At 8pm I decided I was going to bed and it was glorious. I am hoping we get a few more beach days this weekend.
Last week I was a ball of anxiety, it was just the cumulation of a LOT of stressors all at once. This weekend was good, we had a lot on our plate, but also time to just get some things handled and take a long walk/go to the pool. We're walking into the week with our feet under us, which is comforting.
Friday we're flying to Boston and then spending the weekend at a lake with friends in New Hampshire. I am SO looking forward to the cool evenings and time to just enjoy being outside. We're back on a super early flight Monday, so it's a short trip, but it'll still be great and hopefully stress-free.

This weekend was fun, but exhausting. Friday was DD’s birthday. Sat. I went to Matt Rife. Yesterday, we hosted all the grandparents for lunch. Then Joan Jett last night. Doctor this morning. I’m still recovering from Covid exhaustion. I see a nap in my very near future.

First day of school for my kids. DS is starting his first year of HS (9th grade) and DD is starting her last year of middle school (8th grade). Time is definitely a thief.
DD started her day stressed out because she was not able to log in to her school computer this weekend. When she said she couldn't remember her password or answers to her security questions, DH and I were like 'WTH! You were supposed to try to log in when you were at school on Friday during the open house.' So anyways, her first stop once she got to school was to go to the media center to try to get logged in.
It's a million degrees here (90s), so I'm sure both kids will come home super exhausted (their buildings don't have AC in all rooms/areas).
On a funny note, I am WFH today, and my dog is laying on the floor in my office. He is audibly farting frequently, and it is cracking me up. Thankfully they are not smelly farts.

I went to Kenny Chesney on Saturday with the woman STBX was cheating with and her friend. We had a blast 🤷♀️ He def has a type too!
I went through all my patterns yesterday and accepting I have ~50 more than I’ll ever use. So I sorted them into topic (skirts, bags, dresses, etc), photo graphed each group, and the tied into bundles. Posted on by nothing with the “take whole bundle” and you know the drill…. It took all of one hour before someone said “I just want X, not the whole bundle.” Nope. Sorry. They are bundles because I’m not dealing with 50 sorting requests. Of course, someone else already requested that bundle.
I watched the Blue Ribbon Baking Championship on Netflix this weekend and now I really want to bake an apple pie or apple crisp. It’s going to be in the 90s this week, so not really baking weather. I typically love summer, but I am so ready for fall this year!
