DS2 tested positive for Covid today - his brother had it last week. Interestingly DS2 is one of those people whose main symptom is GI issues- he was throwing up all morning yesterday.
I’m praying so hard I don’t get it again - I have an appointment Friday to get my roots done and it’s so desperately needed. H will cry if I have to cancel!
My well meaning sisters are going to drive me up the wall. My daughter recently graduated with her teaching degree, but she is not looking to teach full-time because she wants to remain flexible in case her dream job in Europe comes through.
So she is staying with us and hopes to substitute teach as much as she can. My sisters are inundating me with job openings, leads, etc. to forward to her.
Today is day 19 in the hospital for my mom but I have such new-found hope. Last week they did a lumbar draw to check for all bacterial meningitis. That came back negative but 2 days later it did show a different kind of infection in her brain. So we finally have some answers.
New intravenous meds were started right away and each day since, my mom has been getting better and better.
Thursday is her birthday and while I do not think she will be home for it, WE are the ones celebrating it.
I have become chief cat herder on a project where the legal needs/input is minimal BUT there are external deadlines and no one but me appears to care. Plus then it'll be "legal messed up" if the deadlines aren't met.
Fine, mofos. I just sent 3 emails with instructions and requests, then set 2 meetings for status updates to force them to give me what I want.
First day of school for me at my cyber school. This is my 15th year in education. Only 15 to go, sigh.
DS has his first soccer practice tonight 4-5. It's going to be really pushing it for me to get him there on time. Also I technically work til 4, so hopefully no one Teams msgs me after like 3:30 lol.
I was informed this morning that two friends that I sat next to at a brewery Saturday, and then came to my house afterward, both have Covid, so I'm expecting that to ruin our Labor Day weekend...I'm hoping maybe I'll be unscathed since we were outside, but I feel like my luck has run out on this since I haven't had it since 2022. Ugh, LDW is one of my favorites so I'll be so sad if I have to freaking sit at my house and not be near a body of water, haha. We have plans to go to a wine festival, plans to boat, plans for a poolside fantasy football draft party, etc. None of these things are things we haven't done a million times before, but it will still be disappointing if we're sick.

It looks like I am going to have to get a part time job again. I’m so bummed but I desperately need money. I also realized that my son turns 18 in a few months so the random, small amounts of child support I do get is going to get even smaller.

I've had a great day off for our bank holiday. Some gardening work, playing with the dog, some reading and just lounging. DH made us homemade pizza in the pizza oven and my MIL is making us dinner tonight. And I took a personal day on Friday so it's a 3 day week. Yay!
I am in a really shitty headspace today. I'm off starting Friday all the way through the end of next week. The break will do me good. Just 3.5 more days...

We had Covid labor day of 2022. Luckily, I hadn't gotten around the making plans and there were no kids sport games, so we didn't have to cancel anything, but yeah definitely a bummer.
There is a restaurant near me that was "under construction/coming soon" for something like 2 years. The town's community page was obsessed it-- constant postings, working it into the butt of a joke on unrelated posts, etc. It finally opened about 6 months ago, and may or may not have shut down permanently yesterday. There are a bunch of posts about it on the town page, but apparently at some point in the two years of construction, someone created a fake account called "(Restaurant name) opening updates". Employees are posting that they closed, but this official-looking fake account is posting things like "you silly gooses, we are open!" apparently for the sole purpose of sowing chaos.
I would say that people need hobbies, but to be honest it's entertaining me today so I can't judge.

Ugh, total bummer! I had Covid the Tuesday after Labor Day, 2022 lol. I didn't get symptoms til Monday evening so at least got to go through with all my fun weekend plans, lol.

I started my conversation with my boss asking for a raise by mentioning his dog. HIS DOG DIED AFTER EATING A SOCK (ETA: I had no way of knowing this, it's not like I intentionally brought up a deceased pet, but still). It sort of went downhill from there.
Not because of my unlucky topic of conversation, my boss isn't vindictive in that way, he just had a different vision of this role and wants to talk to someone else and get back to me, so instead of walking out feeling all empowered I feel a little awkward and a little annoyed.

Please recommend your desk lamps. I've got 3 big florescent overhead lights and I'm over them. I'd like to get better light for my office. I also have no windows, well, my windows look out into a warehouse, no outside windows.

50 showed its colors ... it took me 36h to recover from a concert I decided to follow it up w a hike yesterday - 640' elevation - I used muscles I haven't used in a LONG time and I'm still feeling it :/
We make the move this weekend .. I'm excited, nervous, and terrified.
My BIL (H’s brother) is one of those “great guys” - handy, hard working, life of the party, interesting to talk to, smart. He also runs ‘hot and cold’. It’s not often or frequent but he has been known to “blow up” and say mean things, and then everyone is supposed to forget about it, and let it blow over. He runs a family business and I hear about it from time to time.
Well, in May he blew up on my DD after a church service for the anniversary of his dad’s death (DD’s grandfather). She did not deserve it.
It has not blown over.
I just heard that he’s away this weekend, so that will be the entire summer of avoiding his one and only niece (no nephews either). A grown man in his 50s is too chicken shit to face a 16 year old.
I just bought tickets for my H and I to take 11 year old DS to his first concert, Metallica and a couple other metal bands, one of which is his favorite band. I also bought ear plugs, lol. It’s very much not my type of music but I’m excited to see DS enjoy it and I’m sure they put on a good show.

My neighborhood is obsessed with not having chain restaurants. They are especially rabid about Starbucks.
Someone had a banner made that said "starbucks coming soon" on a recently closed restaurant. People flipped the F out. It was amazing. It had a qr code, and if you bothered to follow it before flipping out on FB, it took you to a web page that said it was a joke.

I have an ott light with 3 settings that I use for crafts, but it would be a good desk lamp.
DH found one on amazon that has I think 6 light levels and 2 different colors.
We are supposed to leave for vacation with my parents on Wednesday, but my dad has been battling covid and also got some potentially scary health news so they're not going to make it now. I'm so bummed! I know they are too. We've had this vacation booked since February. What terrible timing
My mom told me we should invite friends since it's paid for and nonrefundable now, but the friends I invited are still recovering from covid and not sure if they can swing it.
We're still going and I'm sure it will be fun, it's just not the same as a family vacation (at least if you actually like traveling with family I guess hah).
