Anyone gotten rid of cable and gotten a good antenna for basic stations? We've tried two inexpensive RCA indoor antennas now, and both are having issues with a couple channels. Any recommendations for a better one? I can't figure out if the issue is we're buying cheap crap, or our house is in a pocket of suck as far as reception goes.
We really want the basic channels to work - I sort of hate HuluPlus.
We eliminated extra splitters so we only have 1 tv to watch on. Maybe try that? Also our tv has a digital antenna built in so we don't have any extra hardware.

we had a set top antenna, but when we moved farther from the towers we had to put one in the attic and that doesn't get as many channels as our neighbors with one on the roof.

We have a flat antenna that works really well. We had to put it up against the window, but I'm much happier with the flat one than the rabbit ears we have in the bedroom.
Blue, do you know the brand by chance? I think we're going to try one more indoor antenna, and then move to an outdoor one. The channels we do get (CBS and ABC, sometimes NBC) are awesome. But I can't live without consistent NBC and FOX!

We did an antenna for a while and it worked ok. But then we just plugged the cable directly into the wall and get a decent number of channels that way. Not as many as when you pay for cable though, but at least they all came through great. It's legit too, the cable guy actually came and moved the outlet for us so we could do it. Try it and see if yuo get anything that way!
We have some kind of set up where the TV is plugged into the cable outlet, and then we have a flat attena in an upstairs bedroom plugged in. I'm not sure how it's all connected, it's some kind of cabling wizardry. We then have it all connecting to our computer with a digital TV tuner, which allows to DVR our shows.

I'm out of town this weekend so I cant get the exact guide we use but you can probably google it. Maybe the FCC? We just use a guide that tells us which way to position the antenna based on what station we want to watch. The guide has our location put in and then we use the compass on the iPhone to move it around. We only have to reposition for a couple stations. We use a cheap RCA antenna. It was like $10 or $20.
