I have a 10 year old daughter and 12 year old son that are both experiencing areas of dryness and clogged pores around the nose/mouth and on the forehead. They are both using cerave cleaner and either cerave or Neutrogena moisturizer (with sunscreen in the morning) and it doesn’t seem to be improving.
So, what skincare routines/products have you found that work well for this age group? I’m looking for products that are effective and appropriate for their ages.

We use the Paula's Choice Clear cleanser or the Cerave SA cleanser. The salicylic acid should help with the pores. I like the Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion for nighttime - it feels lightweight but works well.
My son is 11 and really likes the basic face wash and facial moisturizer from Trader Joe’s. It’s really gentle. It’s not in front of me so I don’t know what it’s exactly called, but both come in small pumps and are regular items on seasonal.
My DD’s forehead kept breaking out around that age so we switched to Teenology shampoo & conditioner. It is designed to help prevent breakouts caused by hair products. She uses their face wash & moisturizer too, but also uses Cetaphil sometimes. It really helped clear her skin up. Plus mighty patches for spot breakouts.
DD is obsessed with skincare, she definitely uses too many products but the acne she was getting on her forehead is gone.
- Pimple patches and Proactiv for occasional problem areas (I even use the pimple patches, they do work) - Neutrogena exfoliating cleanser - Bubble moisturizer, cleanser, and mist - it's all really gentle but idk if it would help with skin issues
Honestly the biggest difference has been her growing out her bangs and washing her hair more thoroughly!
