My older DS (14) has a suspected UTI. He came home from a very long and hot afternoon at a football game and said it hurt to pee and it was bloody. I will take him to urgent care first thing in the morning. I guess I am surprised and didn't think it was common for teen boys to get UTIs but apparently it is in uncircumcised males (which he is).

Any experiences? I assume they will put him on abx.

Honestly, I might take him now. As someone who used to get UTIs fairly often, the blood worries me.

Can you do a telehealth appointment?

He could be dehydrated. My H told me a similar story from when he was in HS and was peeing blood after playing sports in the heat. It ended up being dehydration. Definitely see a Doctor and hydration.

Was he watching the game, or playing in it? If playing in it I would be worried the blood was due to some kind of internal injury (not sure if that’s a reasonable worry or just my anxiety brain jumping to worst case scenario.) Either way I hope he gets some relief soon, whenever I’ve had a UTI with blood it’s unbearable and I’ve had to go straight to urgent care or the ER. I assume they will treat it the same as a female UTI, abx and those ink pills.

Well, he seems fine. No blood or pain this morning. Maybe he was just dehydrated?

And for those asking, he was watching the game, not playing in it.

my son also had a suspected UTI this summer and it was dehydration (we were on vacation in the humid bahamas and in oregon it had not gotten hot yet).
