I am working from home half a day, then helping set up for a mental health awareness day tomorrow. I cannot work it, so this is my contribution.
Tomorrow, we have a barbecue. It is one of my Bffs since high school who happens to be married to my cousin. Which means most of my family on my dad's side will be there. The women of that family are a cliquey, snotty bunch, who pretty much excluded the brother's wives and children, there were 7 kids. It used to hurt my feelings, but at this point in life, I figured out, I don't like them anyway. I'll have lots of friends there to see besides them.
Sunday hopefully a day of rest, the next couple of weekends are going to be crazy.
Week was rough. Weekend is up in the air. DD1 was invited to the movies tomorrow evening with some friends. DD2 has a soccer game Saturday and a birthday party 45 mins away on Sunday. Behavior from both this week has been pretty awful (with DD2 leading the charge there) so I don't know if anyone is going anywhere.
I'm getting my hair cut/colored/highlighted today and then I'm not sure. I might take off for the weekend alone. I'm pretty sick of the treatment I've been receiving from my entire family, so I'm thinking hard about leaving for a few days to reset myself and possibly themselves.
I can't wait. The first week of school is so exhausting and we have a stupid convocation and back to school picnic tonight that I have to at least show my face at for a while.
Soccer starts tomorrow. DD1 is reffing at 9, 10:30 and 12 and DD2 has her first game at 9. I want to sleep in!!!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

We have birthday parties for two of Beau's grandsons the next two weekends, otherwise we'd be leaving with our trailer tonight and camping somewhere for the weekend. We may still go riding at our local offroad park tomorrow for the day. The annual Greek festival in our town is this weekend too. Parking is terrible so I may just have Beau drop me off so I can grab the cookies that I love if he doesn't want to go. Sunday is the birthday party for his oldest grandson turning 6.
My boss asked for help in something really minor that I happened to disagree with her approach. I wrote her back with my idea, she didn't like it, so I am not writing back again.
I like her idea, but it is way too much work for the admin that has to implement it. She doesn't want to streamline it, so I will go back to not saying anything then.
But I am not creating a list for something when they could take the easier road and don't want to. I get their way is better, but it might not be sustainable year after year. And there isn't really anything we can add that isn't already on the list already.

Work has been insane this week. Plus H is still recovering from the illness we all shared, my youngest has been in an overtired mood this week, and we have had an extra dog. I am wiped.
I took a couple hours off and got a haircut this morning. Tonight we have STEM night at the school. This is usually one I volunteer with but they didn’t need me and I am very grateful not to be needed. We will probably grab dinner with school friends after STEM night.
Tomorrow DD2 has skating, I am taking DD1 and some number of middle schoolers to a volunteering event, and then the rest of the weekend is blissfully unscheduled. Which is good because the house is a mess, I fly out Monday for 10 days, everyone is tired.
I will probably make a short visit to my brother since we canceled on him last week. Drop by, have lunch, see his new place. But nothing is planned yet.
This has been a short week, but I am tired! I think the kids are tired too. DS1 has been struggling with the earlier wake up time for middle school. My mom is coming over for dinner this evening. We'll get some more planning for vacation to Italy in November done. Tomorrow, DS2 has a soccer game at noon. We'll probably go out for dinner. On Sunday, I have my first solo shift at my new gig at the local hospital. I heard it is usually slow on Sundays there so I'm hoping to get some prep work done for my class.
Next week is open house for the kids. With their age gaps, we have 3 kids in 3 different schools in the same district, so we have 3 open houses to go to.
Co-worker that treats me like secretary just told me I need to look into something in the next 3 years. I said there was no budget for this year which is why I stopped looking. OK, I'll get right on that thing that is 2-3 years away lol.
We survived this week with DH in Indiana and me going to NYC and back. And it actually went pretty well. Flights were on time, there was good weather both places we went (I got a morning run in yesterday on the High Line and Hudson River), babysitters worked out and kids got to everything they needed to do. Yesterday I had some time to kill before my flight back and I went and hung out for a bit at the rooftop pool at the TWA Hotel at JFK and watched planes take off - that was a cool experience. It was an expensive week between $500 in babysitting costs and the cost of DH's and his Dad's last-minute flights after his Aunt passed and they set the dates of the funeral. But DH and I actually landed at the exact same time last night and I drove him to his car (since I was expensing my airport parking).
Anyway, it's unseasonably warm here this weekend - hopefully the kids don't melt at weekend sports. I'm in my office today to get a few things done with multiple screens and no unpacked suitcase staring at me at home. DD has a friend's birthday party at the beach this evening. Tomorrow is a baseball clinic for DS1, soccer games for DS1 and DS2, a softball workout and BBQ for DD, and then Sunday some more softball for DD and our puppy's first obedience training class (finally, since we're finally in town long enough to do a 6-week every Sunday session with no summer vacations).
Next week I'm on the road again at client meetings Monday-Wednesday (Monday and Tuesday in Monterey, Wednesday just in Orange County). One of these days life will slow down
My week flew by. This weekend DD1 has her first club volleyball tournament of the season. She's one of the least experienced players on one of her club's better teams, so I hope she gets some playing time. It certainly says something good about her skills to be placed on this team, but she has a lot to learn DD2 has her first soccer game of the season tomorrow. She moved up and age bracket this year for soccer and is enjoying the challenges of playing with older kids. I'm running tomorrow morning and doing a big mountain bike ride with a friend Sunday morning. H will be traveling for work all next week. Sunday, we'll be gearing up for this. Getting the girls where they need to go with when he's gone can be a logistical crazy show. They've also been fighting a lot more when he's not around, so I'm really not looking forward to the time when I'm on my own with the two of them... Hopefully they'll both be busy enough that they won't have the time or energy to fight much
DS(8) came home from school sick yesterday. He was barfing by 6pm and we all sleep like crap last night. Today DS developed a fever so we've just been laying low on the couch. I predict tomorrow will be more of the same. I hope his fever breaks soon or he'll have 0 chance of going to school on Monday.
