Friday: played with dogs Sat: 9mi run Sun: cheered on my husband for a 50mi bike ride
BQ: one more long run before my half on 9/22. 9 felt good. Hope 10 feels the same. After that I’d like to start doing more strength and mobility work ahead of the big 5-0 next year.
Fri - off Sat - off physically, spent some time booking hotel and flights for MCM! Sun - planned 16 mile run, ended up at 16.89. Mon - will be off
BQ: MCM is my first marathon, and that's all I'm thinking about right now! 7 weeks out. Despite my calves being tight, I had a strong 16 miler this morning, definitely faster pace than I plan to run at MCM. The last 2 or so miles were hard and hurt. The loop I ran had 689 ft. elevation gain in 16 miles, and I've read MCM is about 700 over 26.2 miles. So I guess it's ok that it felt hard. Definitely had an "omg, and I"m going to run almost 10 more miles after this!?" moment, but that's what a) the next few weeks of continued adaptation, and b) race day adrenaline, will be for.
BQ: To actually make it to the start and finish line of MCM. I had a rough week, physically and mentally (not running related). I really phoned in my training during the week and only did 15.5 of this week's scheduled 18 miles. I almost didn't start the long run in the first place, so I guess 15.5 is a victory in a way? I'm hoping tomorrow is a fresh start and I can right the ship!

This weekend I gave myself permission to focus on my myself and my health, which I haven't done in 12yrs. I have given my all for everyone in my life except myself, and I'm also noticing that bad habits have crept in encouraging a pseudo "couch potato" lifestyle. I will take things slow but Im ready to start.
BQ: My IT band is acting up. This happened my first marathon and hasn’t happened since. I am in PT and am hoping I can get the pain under control in the next few weeks. Chicago is about a month away! I swear this training cycle seems doomed, so as of right now my main fall goal is to finish Chicago in one piece! Depending on IT band, I might sign up for another marathon in January or half in November and try to post-baby PR either.
scm1011, if 15.5 miles is phoning it in with 1.5 month+ to go, you're gonna be a-ok for MCM! I have always felt like it's what you do on the bad days that really matters. I hope everything settles for you soon, and your doggo starts hitting his stride.

F: shakeout walk to buy a bunch of snacks at the grocery store Sa: Oly Tri. It was HARD. I really need to ride my damn bike. Su: blissful rest. Utter slothfulness. I mean...we drove home, and I hemmed a skirt. But that's it.
Fall Goals are to really get into the swing of marathon training and hit my workouts as planned. I got a little off track when covid ran through the house, but we're all healthy again now, so back at it. Race isn't until December and long runs are really getting moving now (11 this weekend!) so it's really time to focus.
