Yesterday DS' psychologist's office staff canceled the appt that we've waited 5 weeks for! The appt was today. DS is on ADHD meds for the first time and I'm not happy that the next closest appt is Oct 4th. We have questions and concerns and now we just get to wait another month! Ugh.

macmars45, can you call and ask what to do about any urgent needs you have?
I'm watching youtube videos for tutorials on cute hairstyles (different styles of braids etc) for DD. She does her hair the majority of the time, but every now and then asks me to do something she cannot do herself.
Picking up DS1 for an eye md appt. He got contacts last week and so we are doing a follow-up today and he is so excited as this means another lunch out with me. We are going to the local pizza place he loves.

Ugh that's so frustrating! Can you get on a cancellation list?
DS's soccer team had a kid vs. parents scrimmage yesterday. His dad has a bad knee (and was on tbe phone the whole time 🙄) so I played. I wasn't terrible! But there were definitely 6 year olds better than me LOL

I am the PTA president of my kid's middle school this year. I have been on the board at the elementary school for years but never president. Tonight is my first meeting and I am nervous! I hate having to do the procedure nonsense. Wish me luck!

I have some sort of wacky body dysmorphia I think. I've lost just shy of 70lbs. So, on the one hand, I think that I must look great, but then I look in the mirror and hate what I see. Then the next day, I look in the mirror and think I look great, so then I take a selfie and want to cry. It's a vicious cycle and I don't know how to get out of it, or if I even ever can. I still want to lose at the very least another 60lbs so maybe then I will? Who knows. Sorry, I'm just frustrated with myself and venting here.
My poor H got a flat tire on the side of interstate 95 yesterday about 3:45pm. We have roadside assistance through our insurance, so he called them right away. Tell me why it took until 8:15 for someone to finally come? They ended up dispatching 3 different companies for some stupid reason. They needed to tow him off the road to be able to safely change it, which I think was part of the holdup. I was so worried someone was going to run into him being on the side of that road for that long. I went ahead and bought a AAA membership because waiting 4.5 hours is just ridiculous and it seemed like a lot of the holdup was due to miscommunications between our insurance (Geico) and the companies they contract through. I hope AAA is better.
Has anyone else noticed companies not notifying them when something ships? This has happened several times lately and with big name companies with items that are either expensive or big or both like a lawnmower/furniture.
I have a UPS account so I will get a notification from them that something is being delivered that day but nothing from the company and, of course, it only works if it’s being sent UPS.
It’s so weird and stressful and it’s 99% items I’d much rather buy in person anyway but can’t.

Omg was he out there for 5 hours? We have AAA and the first thing they ask is if you are on the side of the road or not. The prioritize those calls. I’ve called in a parking lot and also from my garage.
Grrr on the canceled appointment macmar. If you have a concern or question, I call given the wait.
tacokick-- I had that last month. I ordered DS a soft top for his car and was given an estimated delivery of 10-15 business days. It was on my doorstep 2 days later.
wildrice--Yikes. Normally I find AAA pretty prompt (30-90 minutes), but I tend to have issues with a 20-minute drive of the garage that serves my area. The only issue I ever had with them was being stuck with on the side of the back roads of Princeton for 6 hours waiting. I called a tow truck on my own and they reimbursed me.
Oh no! We also have Geico and the same thing happened on one of the bridges on 95 (with all of the dogs in the car 😢) and they took about 45-60 minutes and it felt like my entire adult life. 4+ hrs hours sounds excruciating.
They were able to divert traffic briefly and just used a jack though. No tow.

As someone that hit goal weight and still found things to nitpick over, I say it’s never ending. I recently went up 5 lbs and have gotten more compliments than ever. I have to actively decide every day to just be happy with my body. My goals now have nothing to do with weight. I’m running a 1/2 marathon soon and I’m thankful my body can do that. I’m lifting heavier than ever and thankful that I can do that too. Finding joy in what my body can do instead of what it looks like. Easier said than done many days.
OMG, wildrice. I'm so sorry he had to wait that long. I think AAA is worth it. One time, we got stuck in a pretty remote area and needed our car towed home because of engine troubles and they still came within like, an hour or maybe two once I had made the call and explained everything etc.
I received an email this morning inviting me to RSVP for a Harris/Walz event on Friday. It's an hour and 25 min away and I can probably only go if its like mid-morning because I'll need to be home by the end of school, but I still filled it out, we'll see. H is lame and can't/won't take off work.

yes! It was so ridiculous. Apparently the first company went to the wrong location and then gave up and cancelled the job, then the second company waited an hour to call and ask if he needed a tow before saying they don't do towing, and then the third company took over 1.5 hours to finally get there. I called Geico and the third company and begged them to send someone sooner because he'd already been waiting for 2 hours at that point, but they didn't.
This is one of the busiest highways in the USA and was definitely a safety issue to be sitting there that long. He didn't even get out of the car the whole time since it really wasn't safe to do so. I would have gone and picked him up, but we only have 1 car!

I'm glad it went better for you! We've had to use them for a couple of other things in the past and they have been much more responsive - and neither of those were emergencies, we were safely parked and didn't urgently need to get anywhere. I can't believe they just kind of shrugged at being stranded on 95.

I was going to say the same thing. I lost 30 lbs (which was more than my original goal!) and I felt the same way. I was wearing sizes I hadn't worn in a decade, but I still didn't like how I looked and buying clothes was still hard. Somehow I expected it would easier being thinner. It made me realize that women are socially conditioned to hate their bodies no matter what. I try really hard not to focus on it and love my body in any shape. I still hate clothes shopping though.

I think they heard the dogs crying in the car and took pity! It was really scary.
It sounds like everything that could go wrong, did, with you guys. I’m glad it eventually was sorted out.
My resolution every year is to keep up on all things medical. 2 dentist visits, annual physical, mammogram, and anything else I’m due for. I finally got my first full body skin check today (I’ve been meaning to for years because of this board) so I’m done for 2024! Kinda proud of myself, lol.
wildrice I've had AAA for more than a decade. I've never waited 4.5 hours for assistance.
When I was in college, I had an older car that had a ton of problems (it was a Dodge Colt and I think it was only like 9 years old when I drove it). The worst one was that when it rained, it would stall and then wouldn't restart. I broke down SO many times over a few years. The worst one was the on-ramp to I-95 getting out of Boston. There was no shoulder, cars were whizzing by me, it was one the scariest moments of my life. When I graduated, I bought a brand new Toyota Corolla and swore I'd keep it 5 years, and then buy a new car. Turns out that other car was a POS and my Corolla was awesome and I sold it at 13 years old with barely any issues. Toyota 4 LYFE.
I've paid for AAA for decades and I don't think I've ever used it in the last 20 years. I don't care, it is totally worth it for the piece of mind. Glad to hear that they are still worth it.
On roadside assistance, we had a flat two summers ago and IDK if the dispatcher was located on the moon or what but at one point they suggested sending someone from Kansas City to downtown St. Louis. They are on opposite sides of the state. It would make about as much sense to send someone from Chicago. In the end, it took a total of three trucks that fell through and a total of 8 hours to get the car towed.
I got my Harris/Walz flag hung on my fence facing the road this morning. I've already had one neighbor text me in support! This is my response to the giant (like 3'x6') sign one of my neighbors has for the republican mayoral candidate that enrages me every time I step outside.

OMG 8 hours is even worse! Oddly, one of my other flat tire experiences was also in downtown St Louis! But we didn't have roadside assistance at the time, so we ended up calling someone and paying just for that day (after trying and failing to figure out how to change it ourselves). They came out pretty quickly but I also think we paid like $75 so that was kind of expensive just to change a tire. It took them like 5 minutes.
I would have just called something like that last night if we knew it was going to take so long, though.

I got a flat on 95 once and they couldn’t find me. They kept asking for an intersection. Hello?! I’m on 95 N between bridge st and cotton ave, there is no intersection? I was on the phone when a Good Samaritan helped me, thank gif

Why is that so hard for them? I think he had to explain his location like 10 different times and they were still confused. He was right on the county line, too, so it should have been easy! I was like, have they tried just driving and using their eyes to look?
I was kind of bummed that in 4.5 hours nobody stopped to ask if he needed help, not even the police. You mean to tell me not one police officer drove by in all that time? I get that a regular citizen might not be want to stop on a busy highway though.
We were joking that Tim Walz would never have let that happen.

Don't make fun of me, but I once ran out of gas on the Mass Pike. There wasn't even a breakdown lane where I was so I just had to pull over and put my hazards on. When I called AAA and told them my situation they sent a state trooper to pull up behind me until I got there. Not embarrassing at all!! It's was one of those mornings where I'd told myself I'd get gas before work in the morning and totally forgot. I was going over the Tobin when I looked at my gas gage and panicked. There was nowhere to pull off for gas so my plan was to get off an exit once I was on the pike and find one but didn't make it. They gave me just enough gas to get the car running again and I took the next exit to a station, but their system was down and I couldn't pump gas. I started to cry and the guy at the station felt so bad he told me to go make a cup of coffee for free lol. I had to wait like 15 minutes for their system to reboot and was obviously quite late for work.
I'd like to say that this event stopped me from waiting until I'm on fumes to get gas but alas, I still like to live dangerously. But, I haven't run out of gas again.

I've always had better luck through AAA vs roadside through my ins carrier. It's worth the peace of mind. 4-5h is a RIDICULOUS amount of time to wait.
Another 'trick' I've learned is that if you get a flat, call highway patrol and they can call in the tow service. Tow companies respond to them ASAP.

wildrice, the insane part was they wanted me to stay with the vehicle. It was a fairly spotty part of STL on a blistering summer day. It wasn't like there was a coffee shop from which I could conveniently watch my car for 8 hours. I waited with it for about four hours and then my H came and got me and we waited at home. He drove back into meet the driver once they were actually coming. It was through our insurance carrier, not AAA though.

I had to drive mom to an appointment yesterday. It's a swing community in a swing state. I'm starting to see more Harris/Walz signs tucked in between massive Trump displays in some formerly red areas. It does my heart good.
There's a house not far from me that is across the street from a church that flies Rainbow flags who always has a mix of official and homemade Trump swag out front. I was dropping off a donation for the church's food pantry the day after Biden left the race and saw the owner replacing his "Let's Go Brandon" sign with one of his homespun "God Bless Trump" ones. He didn't look happy.
