Inspired by the debate last night I bought a tee shirt that says "Control Guns Not Girls". I wanted to buy directly from the Kamala Harris site, but I didn't like the design, so I found a design I liked elsewhere that was also cheaper, so I purchased that and then donated the different to the Kamala campaign.
I keep overhearing snippets of coworkers' conversations about the debate and while most of them are Harris-friendly, there's one convo I can't quite tell who they're supporting. ::side-eyes suspiciously::
DD has an opportunity to work as an election page through her AP Gov class even though she'll be 11 days shy of the age minimum of 16, and she is SO excited to be part of the election mechanics. She even listed her preference as the 5am-1pm shift to give herself a better shot at the assignment she wants.
Each month a slide deck is due on the 2nd Monday. It used to be my job, but I'm detailed.
Every month, by Tuesday morning, people are asking me for the slide deck and I direct them to the current POC.
Yesterday afternoon we got a draft slide deck. It's completely jacked and the leadership provided comments back.
This morning I asked for a revised slide deck for the meeting this afternoon. Person seems confused not understanding they screwed up the slides.
Slide deck already got sent up to the senior leader they're briefing, even though it's wrong.
I have been gone since January, this is the 9th month of the "new" person doing these slides and yet between them and the Director there is always an issue. headdesk

ssmjlm I don't think they are punking you, but I do think they are dropping the ball. I'd just start looking at people confused if they ask you for the slide deck again. That sounds annoying.

My daughter asked me to plant fennel in my garden this year. I’ve never grown it before and did not cut it soon enough, so it went to flower.
I didn’t realize that black swallowtail butterflies apparently love this plant for their eggs. Ours is COVERED in caterpillars. There have to be at least 50 across the 3 plants I have flowering. I love watching them grow. I find myself just standing out in the garden watching them crawl and eat. I lose track of time absentmindedly counting them. It’s amazing!
ETA: every flower and stalk is like this, just caterpillars convening. I love it!
I took myself on a little tour this morning of all the places near our house where I saw Trump signs four years ago. There are no Harris signs (there are two in our subdivision, including ours) but...there aren't Trump signs either. I'll take it for now.

Same! Five Harris signs (including my own) on my block and no Trump signs. I usually see two Trump signs by now but those houses don't have anything yet. eta: I'm in a Dallas suburb, my county is purple.

Yeah, a jacked up slide deck is going to piss a lot of people off! WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T FUCK UP THE SLIDE DECK. Not you personally, but “general” you.
I don’t think you’re being punked, I just think there are a lot of incompetent people.

Anyone have one of those hair waver hot tools? I have naturally wavy/curly hair but want it to look more intentional.
Also, my kid would not go to sleep last night so I missed the debate. I wasn't sure what bile would come out of Cheetos mouth so wasn't chancing having it on with him up.

How early is too early to start BC pills? My DD is 13, almost 14, and her cramps are terrible and getting worse. She’s finally open to exploring options, but wants me to take her to planned parenthood instead of her pediatrician office.
Any insight or experiences would be appreciated! TIA
My best friend in Charleston is getting married next summer in Ireland. I’m excited to go, I’ve never been to Ireland and I love this friend very much, She had a very rough childhood and doesn’t have a lot of “people”, so to speak so it’s important for me to be there for her at her wedding.
Now, her bridal shower is in November. I’d like to be there for her for that too, but it’s going to cost about $600-$700 with flights and a rental car for me to go. If H was interested in also going and visiting friends it would be an easier decision, but he’s not. Her FI’s family will be in town from England, so I know they will be there and she has two local-ish friends who should be there. And then I think there are two of us who are farther out of town.
I just can’t decide. I always feel guilty about spending money on just “me” things, but it’s not like H never goes on trips just him so maybe that’s a me problem 🤣
Today’s the first day of a virtual course I’m taking in a very niche fiber arts subject and I hope it goes well. So far it’s been a little disorganized and vague and rescheduled the first class date at the last minute.
It’s supposed to go on until the spring but I’ve only paid for the first third so if it’s bad, I’ll stop but I have sunk a ton into the books and supplies. Some of which I’m not even sure if I need because she didn’t send us a real list and even her answers to my follow up questions were vague and unhelpful.
Hopefully she’s better at the actual instruction part!
I just don’t want something that’s supposed to be fun to become stressful! It is a certificate program but it’s not like I need to do this to climb the corporate ladder or something lol
I am so groggy today! I stayed up way past my bedtime watching the debate, then scrolled from bed to read the post-debate takes for.....awhile. I mean, it was worth it lol, but I've canceled everything for today.

TR if you want to go and can afford, definitely do it!
We went on a week long family vacation, and then came home with covid. There has been SO MUCH family togetherness. H and I are home alone for the first time in a while with no kids. Finally! I should be getting a lot of work done, but I just want to do all the house chores and enjoy silence.
Also enjoying the last cool day before we get 80s again.
Oh wow!! Gorgeous! This isn't the one with the three barrels is it?
No, that one fried my hair. I use the 1" Beachwaver- its a single barrel. I bought a refurbished one like 4 years ago for like $49 and it's been my ride or die.

sofamonkey, I took my 14 yo DD to my gyn for this reason. Terrible cramps, heavy flow, etc. Dr. put her on Yazmin and it’s been great. Cramps are now manageable & there’s been some improvement in her pms moodiness as well. My dr said there’s no reason for her to suffer. She did not need an exam (which DD had been worried about), just a 3 month follow up & then yearly appointments for refills. Is your gyn an option, instead of the pediatrician?

I'm interested in the L'Ange Le Duo Grande that keeps coming up in my ads. It can straighten, curl and wave and I like that it has a clamp. I can't with the wands that don't have a clamp. I do ok with my trusty curling iron but I like the multi-function of this and the ability to just smooth out my hair a bit if I want.

I only have a primary doc. I no longer need a gynecologist (I think? No uterus, no cervix, no paps ever again). We’ve spoken with our local PP at community events, and I think they’d be fine. DD has so non-binary and trans friends, so we talk about places to go for care, even if their parents won’t support them. It might be nice to have some firsthand experiences with her first there too. I’ve always had wonderful and supportive visits at PP.
My 12yo had to be revaccinated for chickenpox. She got the 2nd round last week. Yesterday, she started with a fever and 'so many new bug bites.' Why, Universe? Covid and chickenpox within the 1st month of school.
sofamonkey, I was put on BCP when I was 14 for that reason. My goddaughter went on at 13 last year for the same reason, too. I fully support planned parenthood for OBGYN care! I went all through HS until I was about 30.
Patsy Baloney, that's so fun! We get them on the parsley in our garden. They also like dill and queen Anne's lace, apparently. We take them inside in one of those mesh enclosures to watch the life cycle and then release when they emerge as butterflies. I am not sure whether my kids or I enjoy it more.

My 14 year old is on it for acne and appreciating the period benefits. PP should be fine, but you might also be able to get them through a telehealth visit.
I love that my DD’s pills are $0 copay. Thanks Obama!

My DD is the same age and had horrific cramps for months and months. She finally had enough last year and asked me to make an appt for her (she was resistant for a long time). Her doctor was great and gave her many options. Mostly what DD found comforting though was the validation that super heavy bleeding and cramps aren’t normal and warrants help. She did prescribe a bcp and it’s been helpful.
