I'm glad people are seeing fewer Trump signs. I rarely see any at all (very liberal bubble here) but we were in eastern Maryland over the weekend and saw a ton. It made me wonder if I was being delusional about his current popularity. The boardwalk we were on was selling a ton of pro-Trump stuff and very little Harris merch, too. It was kind of jarring!
I am flying to Detroit tomorrow morning to see two friends who live near there. They are not mutual friends, though they know each other now through me, so I will visit one for the first two days and then on Saturday go see the other. I am looking forward to seeing them both. They are my two oldest friends - about 22 years for one and about 18 for the other. Life and distance means we're not in close touch anymore but they are two of my very favorite people on the planet. I am lucky that they live so close to each other, totally by coincidence, and I can see them both!
How early is too early to start BC pills? My DD is 13, almost 14, and her cramps are terrible and getting worse. She’s finally open to exploring options, but wants me to take her to planned parenthood instead of her pediatrician office.
Any insight or experiences would be appreciated! TIA
It's never too early, in my opinion.
L started last year and they've been great for her. She is now on one where she skips her period entirely, which is great for us all. I've always said there needs to be a reproductive on/off switch on our bodies, and this is the closest we currently have. Also love the $0 copay. Thanks Obama!
I brought her to my ob/gyn. She's a midwife and my favorite medical provider. L likes her too, and this way she has established care with her as she ages. She did not do any sort of internal exam.

Unfortunately, living in SW PA, I am seeing mostly only Trump signs. I just got an email from my local Democratic Committee that there is a meeting next week and you can get Harris/Walz signs and volunteer opportunities, so I'm hoping I can swing going to that.
Anyone have one of those hair waver hot tools? I have naturally wavy/curly hair but want it to look more intentional.
Also, my kid would not go to sleep last night so I missed the debate. I wasn't sure what bile would come out of Cheetos mouth so wasn't chancing having it on with him up.
I'm interested in the L'Ange Le Duo Grande that keeps coming up in my ads. It can straighten, curl and wave and I like that it has a clamp. I can't with the wands that don't have a clamp. I do ok with my trusty curling iron but I like the multi-function of this and the ability to just smooth out my hair a bit if I want.

I live in a purple swing state, and for the most part my town is pretty progressive, however, for the last 4 years there have been Trump signs everywhere. I am pleased to see more and more Harris signs popping up.
Yesterday we drove by a house that has MAGA shit all over it, to the point you cannot see the little house, only the signs and flags. It is so gross. Right next to it (like arms distance), the neighbor has a perfect little succinct Harris flag. It gives me so much joy.
I have a Harris sign but I live at the end of a rural dead end road. The folks at the start of our road have huge Trump flags up and I hate that I see them every day but that they never see my Harris signs.

I live in a purple area but I've seen only a few Harris signs and quite a few Trump signs. But I talk to lots of Harris supporters so I know we are here and the votes prove it. Our neighborhood HOA doesn't allow signs so at least I don't have to see Trump signs.
Going to Winter Park and a Red Rocks concert for a long weekend with my college friends and all the husbands tomorrow. So excited! All 16 of us can make it. I've had lots of trips this year so I'm thankful.
It is always stressful for me though before and after a trip since I'm self employed. Lots of things to get done before I go and next week will be busy when I get back. I am happy I can just push my week to three days and even sometimes two when I need to though.
I’m sure you all are desperate for an update lol but the class went fairly well! She was a little more loosey goosey than I’d prefer but there was a woman there from the museum that is running the program who was sort of moderating. I hope she does it for the whole class because she got the instructor right back on track and kept her on task.
One of the tools they sent us isn’t the correct size which was odd but other people complained about that so I appreciated that! So often I find people don’t want to speak up when there is an issue and then I have to and people chime in after. Yay for assertive classmates!

Ugh, just took DS to therapy, and there is a 'veterans for Trump's stand in a parking lot of a closed down gas station prominently on the main road through our town, and he's selling all kinds of Trump swag. In the few min I was sitting in my car, 5 people honked and waved at him.
Our school district notified all families this morning of a threat to "shoot up ___ high school" that was called into to our town's PD last night. The caller has not yet been identified, at least publicly.
The school day proceeded today with extra police presence at all district schools, especially the middle and high schools. Then today, shortly after a "no update, update" from the superintendent, the high school went under lockdown for a phoned in threat to outdoor activities at the high school. The lockdown notice says: As a precaution, all afterschool activities DISTRICTWIDE are suspended as of 4:30 p.m. Teams and coaches at *** HS are sheltering indoors. All students and staff at the high school are safe. Please do not come to the high school until notified. Police have responded to the school. A lockdown is being initiated at the high school for those still in the building. Updates will be shared regularly, every 20 minutes, or as soon as police clear the lockdown, which comes sooner.
I did send my kids to elementary school today, but I know some parents didn't. I think this means we need to pick up our kiddos stat from after school care, which H will do since he is WFH and I am not. It will fall under district-wide after school activities. One of the elementary schools (our old one) is across a side street from the high school. This is such a wrenching way to spend a day, any day, but especially 9/11.

Our local HS also reported a similar notification. Our security said schools across the nation were targeted with these false claims. It is so scary though!
(((( Susie ,)))) that is terrifying. I hope nothing happens.
Everybody's home and ok; they lifted the lockdown around 6:15. They have not identified the source of either phone call threat though. Schools are open tomorrow with a 2nd day of extra police presence.
My 15 year old has prepared a whole slide show about why she should be allowed to go to the Travis Scott show in NYC (1.5 hours from us) with a friend we kinda know and her dad who we don't know at all.
I have a response. It has one slide that just says NO.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I know a ton of people already answered, but my newly 14 year old got an IUD (under light sedation) and its been awesome. I can't remember which one she got but its one with hormones. She is loving not having a period as she previously had a heavy period with cramping.
She goes to a family practice doc and the FP doc referred us to a gyn in the same health system for the iud consult and insertion.
annnd, here's the notice of the 3rd (in 24 hours) phone threat tonight, threatening gun violence tomorrow at the middle and high schools.
Still no suspects/identified origin of the earlier two threats. The chorus on social media of parents keeping their kids home tomorrow is getting louder, and IDK what to think or how to decide what to do. My kids are not at the buildings that have been threatened. They don't know what happened today, just that they were brought in from outside (when the district locked down), and they went to the gym (interior) vs. the cafeteria (front facing/windows) where they would normally have after school care.
I don't know what to make of 3 threats in 24 hours, with nothing (thankfully) materializing. It's probably empty, but what if it's not?
