Our 15 year old cat was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor in her small intestine a couple of weeks ago. We just dropped her off for surgery to remove it, and I'm a giant ball of nerves.
Lack of sleep and a shaken espresso isn't helping.
The vet is optimistic, and thinks the surgery will be successful, but it's still scary and sad.
She's the kitty where all those years ago I hijacked a random troll's thread and turned it into a giant "vote for me" thread for her kitten picture in a cutest cat contest, and you all helped me win a $500 gift card to the hardware store.

UPDATE: The surgery went well and she's at home recovering, and getting higher than a kite on her buprenorphine.
Unfortunately, they did find a second mass (which they removed), and her lymph nodes were inflamed (enlarged? I forget which he said, and I got the information second hand via my H). They took one out, and are sending it to pathology along with the mass(es), because they aren't sure if the lymph issue is just a normal immune response or because it's spread. But he did say the rest of her organs looked healthy, so we're taking that as a positive sign.

Hope the surgery goes well
We just to put down our 8 year old dog. It all happened so fast that we did not even have a conclusive diagnosis yet, but all signs pointed to lymphoma. He got so sick so fast. He was our first dog and was simply the best
Our little patient is home, and annoyed. This morning (before the painkillers) she was very much acting like herself; it's shocking to me how quickly she's bouncing back. If someone slit me open like that and removed a chunk of my small intestine I wouldn't be nearly that spry.
