We know I'm not a patient person. I've done everything on my end to get this kitchen remodel going. Let things run smoothly from here and get this done ASAP. Preferably before the holiday cooking season.
The line forms in the same spot every day. You are not special. You do not get to jump in front of literally 25 cars because your preshus can't wait 5 minutes for you.
Also, when one of the two lanes is blocked off, it is blocked off for YOU, TOO. So when you see me waiting to pull in to the open lane as other cars exit, don't jump in front of me. The high school had games today and that is the lane for the visiting teams' buses. Your special snowflake kid can wait a few extra minutes to be picked up. I promised you will all be OK.
Also, don't be an a-hole to the security guards when they call you out for jumping the line and parking in a blocked lane. They're literally here to keep our kids safe, and they do it with a smile.
Signed,
Hope it was worth getting sent allllll the way to the back of the line
Dear Security Guard -
Sorry for the way the parents treated you today. I get it. Buses are big and have to go somewhere. It was literally no issue at all to wait just outside of the pick-up area until a spot opened up. Everyone needs to relax.
Dear Dietician I really hope you can help DD. Not knowing what food dependent exercise induced anaphylaxis was and telling me wheat equals gluten doesn't give me 100% confidence in you. DD needs the energy food brings to her body. We need you to figure out what that looks like without wheat and dairy. Right now on her calorie counter app says she is eating about 1200 calories a day which is 1000+ short. Her morning snack at school today was entire garden cucumber. Worried Momma
Dear DH Stop blowing off DD's medical diagnosis as a bunch of nonsense. Wife
I miss you. But you brutalized my nails and I can’t justify paying primo prices knowing that I’ve got all the time to do it at home myself right now, even if it doesn’t come out as perfect as when you do it.
Signed, Unemployed lady who apparently knows how to use an e-file better than some of your staff.
186momx, I can't remember if I asked you this... does she like quinoa? It's super filling and kind of dense, good carbs, and gluten free. I like it over a salad with goat cheese, cranberries, and chicken. Or more of a southwest flavor with salsa, beans, corn, and cilantro (well I don't use cilantro because I hate it, but it would fit for sure).
But I would think she could sub it for pasta or rice?
It sounds like you'd need to look for certified gluten free quinoa - it is gluten-free, but can be contaminated when harvested...

Dear Daughter’s Field Hockey coaches,
My daughter is a goalie. All that crazy looking shit she wears is for her protection. For her safety. I got to see her play for the first time today for you guys, and I could tell from 30 yards away that her equipment hadn’t been tightened. She cannot tighten it herself after she’s suited up. You have to do it for her.
Signed, Mom Who Doesn’t Want Her Kid Hurt
Dear Daughter,
I have told you approximately 1000 times to ASK YOUR COACHES TO TIGHTEN YOU UP. So why are you playing with loose equipment, you dip wad? You literally cannot move right without your stuff tightened.
We have a team of 13 junior analysts, which is majority female. Then we have a team of 7 senior analysts, all male. Did you seriously just promote 3 males only from the junior to senior level? The lack of gender diversity on the senior analyst team is embarrassing, and it will feed a lack of diversity at senior levels as well that promote from that team. We all value diversity in the investment managers we recommend to our clients - yet are not practicing what we preach.
Signed, I can’t believe we claim to promote gender diversity in our industry. I’m taking these concerns to our CEO.
sdlaura, infuriating. I actually received a check for backpay from my previous employer - a huge financial institution - because the DOL found that they had been underpaying women in senior leadership positions for years. They only looked at an 18 month period, and I got a 5 figure check about 2 years after I'd left the company.
Sexism is pervasive everywhere, but especially in the financial world. Considering how loud and public my old company was about gender equality, and knowing what went on behind the scenes, it was so very satisfying to receive that check. But also frustrating because I knew I was owed SO MUCH MORE... but it would have been difficult to prove.
mae0111 I think our senior leaders are actually very committed to gender diversity and equality. But somehow middle management (all female in this case) didn’t get the message.
Quit attacking kids in school. Quit letting kids think it’s okay to make threats. I don’t like getting a text from my kid that she’s scared.
Signed, Mama bear
Dear school district,
You have 30,000 kids. A threat to one school MUST get communicated to all parents. Because telephone is a terrible game and now these kids think their school is under attack.
Signed, I really hate you most days
Dear DD,
Our bestie who knows everything in our PD confirms it’s not at your school, despite the texts you’ve seen. Please try to calm down and focus as impossible as that seems.
Still no communication from the district or school. DD just called bawling that someone got shot at another school and I can hear tons of kids in the background shouting for parents to pick them up. The hysteria is real. There was no shooting. They’ve made announcements to reassure the students.
I hope every single teacher/admin in our district has a big bowl of ice cream or bottle of wine (or both, who am I to judge?) waiting at home for them after a day like today. (Except for Nancy. Nancy can go home and be miserable.)
Dear School District Please remember that all of our schools have very close boundaries and just because a lockout doesn't immediately affect DD school doesn't mean that it doesn't affect those students who walk home. DD was very uneasy seeing 6 police cars in our neighborhood especially when one was following her. I called her school to question if there was a lockdown in the district because DD was freaked. All of our children are on alert with school threats and social media/news stuff. I'm thankful this was just a domestic dispute a few blocks from my house but 6 cop cars in a 3-block radius is a lot for a 13yr old walking home to an empty house. Equally nervous parent
DD survived the day. I did not pull her out, despite many requests. She was one of 5 people in her fifth period.
The level of hysteria at our school was insane. I drive by out of curiosity around 11 and saw a line about 70 cars there of parents pulling their kids out, and some of them were bawling and hysterical. DD said one girl passed out from a panic attack. What was just a threat against 3 schools relatively far away somehow turned into a rumor of a mass casualty event and the shooters were heading to her school and would be hitting them during 3rd period. The crying and screaming I heard in the background when she called me from 2nd period sounded like there HAD been a shooting.
It doesn’t sound like things escalated like this at other local schools. So I’m wondering what went wrong at ours. We did have our lockdown drill on Wednesday, so perhaps that?
Either way, I never want to go through that again. And to think that they knew about these threats Wednesday night and not a word was said. Before DS and I picked up DD and her friend after school, I made sure to give him the details on what had happened, that they’d likely be talking about it and it would sound scary but they were safe the whole time. Imagine if we’d been able to tell our kids that before sending them to school.
waverly oh Nancy (the super, and yes, that is her real name) doesn’t GAF and has never responded to an email. You get a canned response and it dies from there. So guarantee it took them so long to inform everyone because they were waiting on their lawyers.

Now I understand who Nancy is from your previous post.

They need to reevaluate their policies. There have been several threats here in the last few weeks. Both of our school districts will send and email that they know about the threat and what's being done Asap. They then send you a text to read your email. And social media. This is used also if they get wind of rumors or something happening in aa neighboring district. There are still parents who pull them out, but it doesn't reach the level of hysteria you're describing.
