My 2yr old threw up at 1:30am, and has been up ever sense. Not sick anymore, but just talking and not tired.
I'm on the PTO and sent an email to the principal and VP, while my 2yr old was crawling all over me. I typically reread things a million times, but didn't and in rereading after sending I had so many dumb grammatical/spelling things I'm embarrassed. Most egregious was starting out "Hi Principle K..." Lol that's like elementary school 101
I'm probably lucky this is the first time this is an issue but I have an employee who just...gets on my nerves. She is a perfectly nice person, but she's scattered and really struggles with technology, and I think she has maybe been more of a personality hire for most of her career, so she constantly wants to have small talk vs project focus. She's an older gen X and makes a reference almost daily to being old and...that's not a great look. GenX basically invented the technology we are using - like, stop it.
I'm the older Gen-Xer who teaches all the other technophobes on my team how to do things.
I have hit that point where I have to be taught stuff by the younger folks in the office. And it makes me weep. My first job, for five years, was software development. I use to know all the stuff. The other day, my friend and I were talking about my home wifi network, and I’m all umm.. modem? Router? there is something with flashy lights in the crawl space, and the thing I reset after a power outage is in the workshop.
But… back before the turn of the century, I knew stuff.
I'm having hand pain after my double carpal tunnel surgery. I started hand therapy today. There is a lot of homework!
Good luck! I hope you get the results you want. When I broke my foot a year and a half ago, one of my first PT exercises was to write the alphabet in the air. Who knew that could be so difficult?!

I just got out of a meeting where there were fun-sized candy bars. One of my colleagues took a KitKat and just...took a bite. Biting across both bars. What kind of monster does that.

I go into the office 2-3 days a week, and we have an open office set-up. One of my neighbors is facilitating a training, and she is talking SO LOUD that I can't focus. Like, why tf wouldn't you book a conference room to conduct the training?? It is so disruptive.

I do this on the minis. Full size, I, of course, break each stick off.

Today is MH's birthday. We will have cake tonight, but that is about it between back to school night and practice, tomorrow he is going out of town for a memorial mass, Saturday we are heading out of town for a 50th birthday and Sunday I have to help my dad so I guess we'll celebrate next weekend...lol. Thankfully he is fine with going out next weekend.
blondemoment123 even if your DS is out there at practice dancing or rolling around I still think he is getting some benefit from going to practices and games. I'd just laugh when DS2 used to play pretend out on the field. To him he was having fun.
Basketball registration ends soon. Still debating if we give that a try next.
I agree that he's still benefiting. He's learning sportsmanship and it's good exercise.
I'm just worried that kids will be unkind to him. There are some really competitive kids in this league that have been playing for years.

KitKats aren't a preferred candy of mine (I can't even think of when I last had one...). I don't really see anything wrong with this, though? Especially for fun-sized.
Leeham Rimes I'm going to play devil's advocate here. Were the parents and players aware of the time commitment/expectations when signing up? Are several players missing many team practices/games? While I do think it's unreasonable to say that soccer should be #1, I wonder if the team is having an issue with multi-sport athletes who are prioritizing other sports and it's causing an issue? I do feel like it is reasonable to expect that most people will show up for most team events, assuming that expectations were laid out at the beginning of the season.
We're a sports family, which is as much a surprise to me as anyone because I did not grow up that way. But my (11yo) son is a multi-sport athlete who plays sometimes multiple sports during a season (i.e. hockey & lacrosse). We always prioritize the in-season sport and prioritize games over practices and tournaments over games. We also very clearly told coaches that at the beginning of the season, including our plan for prioritization, and asked if that was a problem.

blondemoment123 the other kids will learn from your DS as well. I'd sign him up for bball if he is interested. DS2 had a girl on his rec bball team who was always off on her own, but that one time she got ahold of the ball and made a basket and the whole gum went wild. I wouldn't hold him back for fear of something that may or may not happen. If it does you both can work with the coach to address it.
I have been pretty busy for the better part of the last 2 weeks in a row, and I'm SO over it. I don't know how I used to go into the office 5 days a week AND do things outside of work. I'm tired! Today I had to drive up to my dermatologist to have a spot biopsied to see if it's cancerous. I'm not particularly worried about it but it's probably best that it is being checked out. I really hope it isn't, both for obvious reasons and because I don't want to have to go for a follow up to get the rest removed, lol. I really need to switch practices to something in my town - driving an hour each way sucks! It was super convenient when I worked in that town but I've been at my job for almost 3 years now.
My parents just got home from a 2+ week to southern Africa. I can't wait to hear about it! I talked to my mom once for like 5 minutes, but that's nearly all I've heard from them since they left. I usually talk to her at least 5x a week so I've missed her! And my dad by extension, even though I talk to him less often I at least feel connected to what he's up to because my mom tells me.

We do the same with soccer and hockey. Since hockey goes foreverrrrr, right now we make soccer the priority. Once it's over it can be all hockey, all the time. The teams DD is on ask that everyone attend at least one practice a week, which we are able to do without much conflict.
I too was wondering if what the coach was asking was to make soccer the priority right now for those who do multiple sports. Obviously things like health issues and so forth aren't in a player's control and when DD had her accident we let all her coaches know that she would be out for a few weeks.
candreco , I think I'd do a tan linen - either jumpsuit, or pants/skirt with a light colored top. Linen seems "comfortable forest casual" to me.
Honestly that part is the least of my worries, it's at least got guidelines and I have a few options (though shoes are going to be a challenge with the nature walk in there). It's the suspicion that they're going to be roping family into food prep/serving during the BBQ (I guess I could pack an apron 😂), and clothes for the rest of the weekend.
If I think I would be asked to do food prep/ serving then I would definitely bring a change of clothes so I am not getting food all over my beige/ off white outfit because I would 100% get food on it.
At my SIL's mountain forest wedding, we all had to do food maybe except for the wedding dinner, but all breakfast, lunches and dinners for the rest of the weekend. I spent a large part of the time hanging out in my cabin, so I didn't have to do food prep with everyone. The resort had a communal kitchen for food prep. Then it was so cold that we all threw leggings on under our dresses (which thankfully were a dark color) and sweatshirts on after the ceremony.
So. I work for a professional organization, with people who are essentially volunteering/working for a relatively small honorarium, in addition to their primary job.
For the people that I work with most closely, their term ends next year, and they have already named their replacements. They unfortunately only received one interested person, and he is apparently such a well known asshole in their industry that they spent SIX MONTHS delaying the application deadline and trying to get someone, anyone, else to apply. But no luck.
He attended his first meeting today, and... Oof. I am not sure I'm going to last his term. He came late, left early, and managed to spend the interim mansplaining. This was literally my first interaction with him and I hate him already.

I agree. Having been a coach, it’s really hard when you don’t have players showing up to practice or games. I had a lot of kids prioritizing other leagues and I didn’t understand why the parents signed up in the first place. It was also really hard for the kids who did show up because we could never get a full scrimmage going and we often playing games short a player or two, putting us at a disadvantage. That being said, I totally understood if kids were not there due to family or school commitments (ie back to school nights)

I feel like there's going to be a poll "how do you eat x?" lol. I typically only eat the mini size, and I agree that you eat one at a time. I have a whole thing about it that I chalk up to probably being ND, but I also feel like I'm doing it wrong based on the rest of the responses, lol.
Leeham Rimes, Coach Blood needs to take a freaking seat. Does that coach literally not work or have a life? Who has time for a meet and greet after the meeting?! Ugh, if you're kids are ok with it I say pull them. Otherwise sending all the good vibes to your family. Hopefully the change of season can bring some peace and good luck.

I hate Amazon. We are debating canceling our Prime. I had some stuff for my new job on a list. I went to order the backpack, but the price has increased $25. Ironically the Prime Days ads started yesterday. Prime days is always a joke. The prices jump and nothing is a better deal.
Now I have to decide if I was the backpack I wanted or go for my second choice that’s cheaper. Im salty my trusty bag I’ve had for 9 years has a hole in the bottom.

This level of intensity is new from the previous years. His team is on his third coach since August and this guy is markedly different than other coaches. He just told another parent, like just now I got a notification, they need to cancel all personal weekend plans and dedicate themselves to soccer bc that’s what important. This was not the attitude in seasons prior and if I had known, I’d never have signed up. Never ever.
Also, they heavily recruit families to enroll all their kids on this team and yet consistently schedule conflicting games. And get angry when parents are like—-I can’t be in two places at once. They assume that everyone has two parents who don’t work weekends.
And there was definitely no definition of expectations that was told to parents. All the paperwork I filled out was my financial promise and liability wavers.

Well that was short lived, Miss R's good attitude was a result of her spiked anxiety. She's back to being mean, angry, and nasty towards me but no yelling or cussing at me so I'll take that as a win.

ME. I'm that kind of monster!
This is why I prefer the kit Kat big kat to any other variety of them. No need to break anything apart or 'go against the grain'

Were the candies unwrapped in the container? I’m confused about the problem here. Is it that you just disagree with her KitKat eating style? If so, I can support that lol.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
