Today is my birthday and a couple of weeks ago, DD was asking me what I wanted. I told her I wanted a meat grinder and a metal cake turntable. She was sorely disappointed at the "sad adult birthdays." I told her that my dream birthday would be a spa weekend away, but those tend to be too expensive.
Well, I relayed this conversation to DH when I was telling him about the cake stand.
Today I opened my card and in it, he had put a post-it saying, "Let's make the spa weekend happen."
I've wanted a spa weekend away for years. Of course, now I just have to plan it.
I mean, the commercial clearly tells us to break off a piece of that KitKat bar!
Were the candies unwrapped in the container? I’m confused about the problem here. Is it that you just disagree with her KitKat eating style? If so, I can support that lol.
Kids sports should be about fun, learning to work with a team and preparing for life long fitness. None of those kids are going to make a career of this. All of them are going to have to take care of their bodies, get exercise and work in groups. Most of the options out there (even through high school and college intramurals) should focus on fitness and life skills.
The delusional types who think soccer is the center of childhood and a viable career plan should be the rare exception.
I’d find a fancy ass hotel in an area that I want to visit that has a spa. Then I’d book all the treatments I wanted.
I'm in the middle of Ohio. I did find one in West Virginia that has a lot of stuff.
I don't know what you're willing to spend or how much you want to travel, but the Mirival resorts are supposed to be amazing. But also $$$$.
Absent that, I'd find a hotel with a highly rated spa and book what you want to book. You can spend time between appointments in a relaxing space, use the pool hot tub, and have some nice alone time in your hotel room.
It saves so much space and weight, and I love that there are smaller cases that supposedly hold 100 photos each - much more convenient than one of those, like, 6x9 boxes that hold a few hundred. It’s so easy to just grab one of these smaller containers and look through the photos. Each one has a latch, too, vs the 6x9 that just have a lid.

Check out the Omni Bedford Springs.
We went there for a girl's trip this summer. It's about 2 hours from Pittsburgh, so not sure if that makes it too far from central Ohio. We also found the rooms ridiculously overpriced (unsurprisingly) and we couldn't really find a configuration that worked for us, so we ended up staying at the Hampton Inn that was 5 min. away and just booking spa services at Bedford...as long as you have any service booked, you have access to the whole hot spring routine they do, which felt really luxurious and pampering. We ate there too, just didn't sleep there.
Closer to the border is Nemacolin, where I know their spa is highly recommended.
expectantsteelerfan, I've always wanted to stay at Bedford Springs but its soooo expensive so I've never done it. My dad grew up in Bedford and we used to drive by all the time when it was closed in the 80s and 90s and I had always hoped it would open again, so I have a weird nostalgia thing for it, but I guess not enough to pay the money to stay there, lol.

beerlover, the kicker was we were potentially going to pay 3x for a room with 2 DOUBLE beds for 4 adult women. I was like, I'm sorry, at this point in my life I don't even want to share a double bed with my dh. Getting 2 rooms wasn't in the budget for us and we all wanted to be together, so we happily paid less to get 2 queens at the Hampton Inn.

We stayed at that Hampton Inn during Covid, I think in 2021 for President's Day weekend. We just wanted a night away with a pool for our 4 year old at the time when there was not much else to do. It was a nice hotel!
