One of my clients just had a baby today, I’m so excited for them. I’m letting their dogs out during the day today and I’ve picked up some finger foods to leave there so they don’t have to worry about eating the first day home. Baaaaabies!!
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
Kids have picture day today and they look adorable but so grown up! I took a few pictures and DS was making a face like The Rock in all of them....I will die laughing if that is what ends up on display in our living room for the next year 😂
Lucy very generously offered to order her school prints this year- I got my goofily smiling teen with lasers in the background. Thanks, dick 🤣

Today is my first fully WFH day in almost 2 weeks where I'm the only human home AND I don't have meetings. I feel so relaxed! I have been so out of routine these last couple of weeks so it feels good to be able to slowly drink my coffee, throw in laundry, and sit in a quiet and less cluttered space. It is still so crazy to me that 5 years ago I was in the office every day. I don't think I could ever go back to that - it stresses me out to be out of the house so much.
This weekend should be pretty low key as well, we are both getting our annual vaccines tomorrow and I am ushering a musical on Sunday, but otherwise plan to mostly be home. I am having out of town guests two weekends in a row in October, so I am thinking I will do some additional deep cleaning/organizing tasks to be better prepared for that. And read a book for book club on Wednesday that I have only just barely started.

She's living my dream. All I wanted was some fly hot pink lasers!
My husband and I always play argue about a band’s best song. It’s usually 60s and 70s bands. We are huge music lovers and introducing our kids to the classics. DH teaches Anatomy to physical therapy students. They started a unit on the heart. He set up a little video clip and proudly lip sang to Heart. I told him these early 20s kids weren’t going to get it. Half of them did! He was so excited to tell me. He also told them I doubted him/them.
Heart’s best song is All I Want to Do is Make Love To You. He played Alone.
Does HIPPA apply to an aesthetician at my dermatologist's office? I don't really care, I think I'm more curious. I got micro needling done a few weeks ago at my derm's office and am really pleased with the results. I told my mom about it and made an appointment for her to go. I don't really think I told anyone else. I didn't keep it a secret but I didn't advertise it and my face looked normal within 2 days. My mom went yesterday and the aesthetician said that another friend of mine came in, and said that they wanted to do whatever I had been doing. Which isn't much... microneedling, the occasional chemical peel and the occasional diamond glow facial. So I'm flattered but I would have been fine with this person just asking me. And I'd like to know if the aesthetician pulled up my file and shared; can she do that?
Since they are working in a medical practitioner's office, they should be bound by their privacy practices. So technically she shouldn't have shared what you had done without your permission.

Half of them have parents close in age to us! I’m finally coming into my own with my students getting my references.

I should probably probably post this in the support thread. I'm having an incredibly emotional day after a long week. Many, many things, but also pictures from my wedding popping up on FB memories are a double edge sword. Seeing my mom, my dad so healthy, walking without a walker, ugh, take me back. So thankful for those memories.
I promise I'm being productive at work, but I'm taking breaks searching through Cameo to purchase a motivational video for my brother as he goes in to his last week of radiation. There are some fun ones, including Goldberg from the Mighty Ducks. So happy to see him so healthy! FYI you can also get Sanka from Cool Runnings, and let me tell you I had to pull out tissues watching one of his sample videos. I think I'm actually going to get one of them to do a video for my friend who's having surgery next month, send her a "you'll get through this" video.
Also want to get DH one of his favorite WWE wrestlers for his birthday next month. I'm so excited I debate doing it as an early present as a lot of the stars will include something like "sorry things are so tough" motivation in a happy video.
Anyway, trying to be positive that I'm finally ok with DH working on a weekend because I might be able to recharge sitting on the couch under a weighted blanket. I may start a new "what are you watching" thread as I need some inspiration.
rubytue , I highly recommend you add Monty Python and the Holy Grail to your weekend viewing.
ETA sorry missed your second post
Haha I’ve seen it. Many times. Most on college when I was, errr, not sober. Help help I’m being repressed! From that scene was in my brain, but not that line.

fangoriagurkel, I’ve followed this situation w your dad.‘I’m sorry it didn’t have a better outcome. But I guess it’s good that you know where things stand and can move forward.

On a more positive note, for the 5 of you who know him/the band, Bon Iver has new music out and it hits, slaps, whatever the kids say nowadays. First song I heard is so close to the original acoustic like stuff I loved. Can't wait to play it when I can really listen and embrace.

We saw Heart at Jazz Fest this year, they did NOT play All I Want to Do…I was big mad!!!
ETA: and last year Kenny Loggins did not play Meet Me Halfway, my friends enjoy when I’m so mad about songs lol. Assholes

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

To be fair I wouldn't want to play All I Want to Do is Make Love To You to my students either LOL

DS and his football team lost by 1 point in their game yesterday. It was a hard loss, but I think it was good for them, as DS's 8th grade team last year went undefeated (there are two middle schools which feed into the high school; I believe the other middle school's 8th grade team last year lost at least one game), as there are important lessons/things to learn when you lose.
MIL came to DS's game yesterday, and she showed up almost an hour before DH had told her she needed to be there (we had to give her the free pass we had gotten for her to get into the game). Her apartment is 5 minutes away from the HS. I'm concerned this could be another early sign/symptom of dementia, that she is losing the concept of time (i.e., how long an hour is).
DD is going with a friend (and the friend's mom) to a concert this weekend. She's super excited about it and has been working on her concert outfit all week. The concert is on the other side of the state (east side of MI), and they are staying at the friend's grandma's house (who lives near where the concert is) on Saturday night after the concert. (I've met the grandma many times, so no concerns about DD staying there.) I'm happy for her that she was invited to go (the friend got tickets to the concert as part of her birthday gifts, and received a ticket to bring a friend along and the friend picked DD), and I hope she has an amazing time.
This weekend I need to get back to my decluttering and organizing projects. Hoping I can make some progress in my office and DS's bedroom.

I just got back from my derm appointment and I swear she is already working on the title of her next journal article about my case....lol. She looked at all the photos and said it was never shingles, but because there was no bite or broken skin she doesn't think it was cellulitis either, but thinks it could of been/is an infection that is deep in the skin. If/when it flares again I need to be seen immediately for a deep biopsy and culture. I am hoping it doesn't come back - it's been almost a month since the "shingles" diagnosis, but the rash isn't completely healed. She prescribed a cream to help because the skin is damaged from whatever this is and I need to go for a bunch of bloodwork on Monday.
Also, why do smoke detectors need to let you know at 3:30 am that they are dying. I had replaced the battery recently when it happened last month, but I think the battery may not of been good so I just ordered a new one for delivery today from Amazon because I am tired of being jolted awake by the 3 beeps.
I actually know why they always seem to go off at 2/3 AM! We were stagying at an Airbnb in DC with ridiculously high ceilings. One night one of the detectors started beeping at 2 AM. We had no batteries and no way of reaching the stupid thing and of course were in an Airbnb where it’s not like the host could really help from afar. Anyway DH was googling and apparently it turns out that something about colder temps triggers the low battery warning more, so DH adjusted the AC and some doors to isolate the chirping detector/make that room warmer and it worked. Boat house tells hot their low temperature around that time of night, hence why it seems the smoke detectors are always alerting low batteries then. Who knew?
Poor DS1 is having a rotten time with allergy induced asthma - he runs XC and it’s really affecting his performance this year. None of the prescriptions/inhalers/various things his dr have tried have helped so we are finally seeing a specialist next week. I’m really hoping they can figure out something to give this kid some relief plus let him enjoy his final XC season
DH and I are going to some curated cocktail thing tonight - it’s a bar with seating only for 10 people, all at the bar, and they do a themed cocktail progression of some kind. DH is very into craft cocktails as a hobby so is excited. I haven’t had any alcohol in a month ( I’m avoiding to help my sleep) so I’m in for a rough day tomorrow lol.
DS2 has his first bar mitzvah tomorrow that I’m not attending with him. I’m so worried about him behaving in temple without me or DH. 2 hours can be a long time, especially sitting with a bunch of other 12/13 year olds and when you don’t fully understand everything going on. I’m stressing!

I’m invited to my first family wedding that doesn’t include kids. My kids will be 16 and 18 by the time the wedding comes around, but they aren’t invited.
The wedding is a 4 hour drive and the day before DH’s bday. The kids are also invited to wedding weekend events Friday and Sunday, just not the event Saturday. I don’t know what to do..

lavenderblue I hate mice! I thought I had sealed all the entry points in the garage and we trapped another one. And one ate the fabric of my $800 stroller!!! in the middle of August when it's hot outside and there's plenty of stuff they could use like dead grass.
My DD got invited to a BD party. My H sent me a picture of the invitation and it was for a Imogene girl. I told H our DD didn't know any Imogene. Until I said it a couple times out loud and realized Imogene and "Emma Jean" like my DD says are one and the same.
ETA: here is the damage done by the mouse. Nuna told me I had to buy a brand new seat at $160 and it wouldn’t be there for another 2 months. FU Nuna! I bought a fabric patch with a cute cloud and it will do.

I did know this! I think it’s something to do with cooling/contracting of the battery.
