I had a manager who LOOOVED Heart. I should really listen to more of their stuff because they are bad a$$
I had an ex a long time ago who made a stink about getting Bruce Springsteen tickets at Madison Square Garden. This was back when buying online tickets was really hard more so due to dial up internet, but also demand like Taylor Swift. Anyway, I somehow got them for $200+ to sit a mile away. This bf said he'd propose if I got tickets and Bruce played some song I forget the name of as I hate Bruce (sorry not sorry). Bruce played the song, but I didn't get the ring. Not a bad thing in the end as the guy is an actual narcissist, but I always think of that lol.
And speaking of concerts one of our friends daughters just went to Weezer who was playing the entire Blue album. Said 14 year old was wearing a blue Weezer shirt. I was so proud, and yet so jealous as I haven't seen them play that entire album in my time. I haven't seen Weezer in a while but people say they're not as good live anymore. My friend posted a clip last year and it sounded terrible, but I blamed it on the outdoor venue known for poor sound quality, and/or cell phone clip.

OMG Aloe Vera, the anger I would've felt at that mouse! We had them pretty bad several years ago and they managed to get in to my sealed fabric bin, which also included some patterns and chewed the crap out of everything to make their nests, I was so upset, but it was no where near that costly for me. They are just so gross. I can almost deal with them being in the basement, but in my kitchen is just freaking disgusting. I didn't have cats the last time I had mice, but I'm glad that at least one of them seems to be a mouser. My dog was the real hero yesterday though LOL

wildrice, - that was the one I got! I am happy not to have to replace the batteries.
devonpow - that makes sense! I learned something new today!! When we lived in an apartment with hardwired smoke detectors we had an awful time with them going off during the summer when it was humid.

Also... I just saw the announcement today that NKOTB is going to have a residency in Las Vegas in 2025! I need to reach out to my sister and our cousin to see if we're going to try and get to a show. (Requires air travel for us, so we'll see if we can make it happen...) We missed going to a concert on this year's tour, so I'm hoping we can make it work to go to a show during their residency.
We don't have cats or dogs, but when my eldest was a toddler she let a neighbor's cat into the house and it brought fleas with it. It was insane. What worked: sprinkling all carpets with baking soda, salt and rosemary, then vacuuming at least once a day in every inch of the house (move every piece of furniture level vacuuming), hot washing and dryer drying all stuffies, bedding, etc. for weeks on end. It was awful. Apparently flea eggs can go dormant for years so I was paranoid they'd come back. Luckily they didn't.

sonrisa, thanks. I bought another cheap vacuum today so we could do double duty on that, and I'm going to bomb the fuck out of my house with flea bombs this weekend lol.

I've hit the point of growing old where I'm just going around with a heat patch affixed to me. My upper back was a mess, so I sat with my massager yesterday. It helped the left side, but somehow my right shoulder is even worse now.

Oh - and empty your vacuum bag into the trash (and take it out of the house) immediately after each session. They can jump back out of the vacuum.

Kickboxing was a lot of fun! Definitely a workout though. The ladies were all very warm, welcoming, and encouraging. On the other hand, my body has totally forgotten how to jump rope. It's been a good 35 years, but nope. I plan to buy a jump rope and try it in the privacy of my backyard and see if we can't figure this out again. The instructor gave me good alternatives and met me where I am.
ETA: I'm plus sized and I wasn't the only plus sized one there. Please don't let that stop you if you're interested in trying it out.

I would even say to take the vacuum canister and trash can/bag outside to empty the vacuum canister, and then throw the bag away. Fleas are definitely escape artists! And I'm sorry you're dealing with this, beerlover! One of my grandmas was a cat lady, and there were times we'd have to leave the house for hours during a visit with her while the flea bomb went off.
Mom of a high school junior over here. We are going to our 1st college tour in 1/2 hour.
I have to register DS for high school already. The H.S. wants it by mid October. It is kind of freaking me out. I can't imagine college tours yet.
Oh man. That’s so early! DD has to choose her classes by early January and even that seems like too much. Junior high is just flying by in a blink of an eye. Once they hit like 11 it goes warp speed fast.

I think I’m just going to put a trash can on my patio for solely that purpose of emptying the vacuums and then empty it frequently.

Fuck, I am so exhausted by this week. The flea thing and nonstop cleaning/laundry and expenses related to that, work being a shit show, dealing with getting our SUV repaired from getting hit, ugh. I feel very... high strung?? I need to relax on my porch later with a beer for sure.
We don't have much going on this weekend, thankfully. We might hit up the HS football game for an hour tonight just to eat dinner and socialize with people, or we may not, depending how beat we all are. H said he's going to stay home tomorrow instead of going to the PSU game so that he can get some grad school work done, and said he'd help me with all of the flea cleaning, so at least I'm not alone tomorrow. Sunday, DS has a birthday party in the afternoon but it's right across the street so we'll just be chilling at home til he goes to that.
H is in complete stress mode with prepping for a teacher inservice Monday and also his grad work. It's kind of annoying honestly. I should have more sympathy but I want to do fun things on the weekend, not listen to you be boring and complain about having to write a paper.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I'm in the same boat as your husband, lol. I started an EdD program this semester and have been working on a 20 page paper for the past week. I'm 12 pages in so far and am sick of looking at it.
You said the other day that your legs were bothered by the stupid fleas and was there anything you could do?
[Pet allergy house so no first-hand knowledge of this but] I looked up scents that fleas don't like. MAYBE these could be helpful for you if you have these scents in lotions or soaps?

So we are in the midst of our bedroom/bathroom/closet renovation. Part of that was to rip down some truly dated, brown, faux-French wallpaper circa 2004. It had ... chaise lounges and cursive text? So weird.
And that wasn't even the most worst wallpapering in the house. Another bath was done floor to ceiling in beige/green/red PLAID wallpaper. It was dizzying, in the worst possible way. The amount of awful wallpaper that had to be ripped out made me swear that I would never put up more.
But I confess that I looooove so many of the modern wallpaper/murals and I have been ordering samples for the WC in the bathroom. Like, I am low-key obsessed with the idea of it being a tree print, so it feels like you walked into a forest, and it makes the room feel bigger/gives an artsy outdoorsy, peaceful vibe. But there is a toilet for you, instead of the actual inconvenience of peeing in the woods.
Which now that I really think the whole thing through, is hilarious. But I still like the idea of a woodsy WC. Like you open a door to a Narnia forest, but you just go there to poop.

I hope this drama ends for you soon! Pests like that are such a pain!
Thanks!! I actually bought some peppermint essential oil and diluted it in a spray bottle of water to spray on my sheets or legs or both. Plus I’m wearing leggings and socks lol. Ain’t no fleas touching me.

Also the mom of a junior. How did it go?
I can't believe how fast the time has gone.
Very well done and long (which is good - we took off from school/work). We were registered with their scheduled group and there was about 3/4 seniors and 1/4 juniors, plus parents and siblings. They started us in the admissions wing in a large room with a video (promotional, students, nice things to say/see), then an intro by one of the deans of admission and slides. Then they had 7 student tour leaders criss cross the campus for 90 minutes (small groups, about 10).
Besides learning about the school, it was a good education in the college admissions process, too. Their applications opened in August and closes November 1st. “So, get those applications in!” The trip got us talking (and talking and talking) about colleges in general which is a rare treat with a teenager.

I successfully checked a bag for my flight with 4 bottles of wine, 6 cans of V8, and 3 cans of coke. Nothing broke but we were worried when the airline gate agent tossed the bag on the belt and it landed with a huge thud. There is lots of bubble wrap and cardboard.
She was very kind though and ignored my other bag being a half pound too heavy.
