tacokick as someone born and raised in Baltimore I greatly appreciated that story lol. There's not much I miss but an egg custard with marshmallow in the middle gets me every once in awhile. And a giant pile of crabs on a summer day.

They are so good! My neighborhood is supportive of local businesses to a fault but messing with snowballs is just a step too far. People have been banned from the group for getting too heated about it lol
Why do my kids only want to talk to me when I'm ready to fall asleep after a long day.
Yes! DS decides at bedtime that he needs to talk about stuff. With him, I think bedtime is when he's processing the day and thinking ahead to the next day, but it's so annoying that it's sometimes several times a week that he has stuff he's worried about.
Similarly but probably worse because he’s an adult. H will be perfectly content to sit silently and scroll on his phone all damn night, but the second he sees me pick up a book and wants to spew all the words at me.
Why does Kohls send me a coupon and then tell me all these things are excluded? I hate it.
When I was a buyer for a retailer who sold Nike, we were allowed to promote Nike in advertising 8 specific weeks of the year only, with them telling us the weeks. They would not participate in a whole house coupon event.
Same with Target's $5 off $25 holiday toy offers that have a giant exclusion paragraph, brands like Lego exclude themselves. Their promotions are more carefully prescribed.
Kohls would prefer you come in and buy their Sonoma stuff where the markup is 75% anyway.

When walking on the side of a road (I'm in the burbs - no sidewalks), why do so many people walk in the same direction as traffic instead of against? You only need one car to come speeding up behind you to realize - hey, maybe walking on the other side of the street would be safer... Daily, I come across people doing this and they look at me like I'm the fool for walking against traffic.
tacokick we have a Sno Cone shack in our neighborhood. It’s the BEST and the texture is different than any other sno cone I’ve had. I just looked up the difference and it’s clear why, because it’s actually snow balls. If that is what your town is used to and they come in with the grittier ice texture, I’d be mad too!

I think it's because biking with traffic was drilled into us as children. So now we walk that way too.

The placement of a concert venue and hotel & casino in the literal middle of nowhere California (Central Valley).
We went to a concert over the weekend and the ONLY things in the town of the concert were the concert venue, a hotel/casino, and a HUGE pumpkin patch. Oh the things I wish my sister had warned me about as she lives 20-30 mins away.

I definitely think it's this. Nobody ever taught me that you're supposed to walk against traffic and I only recently learned that it is the recommended way.

I actually learned (growing up) to bike against traffic. But it feels weird now and its not how bike lanes are designed. So, I don't know if it was just some weird rule I was taught, or it used to be that way? I don't know.

This is super weird, right? I thought it was a David thing until I started seeing it referenced everywhere. I wonder what the deal is with that? When he's off to college our late night talks are one of the things I'm going to miss the most! I do wish we could have them at a different time of day, though lol.
-why do people throw shoes up on power lines? -where do all the socks go in the washing machine??
The shoes on power lines is/was a well known way of gang initiations. Some say it’s a myth however in gang areas near me, there’s clearly a significant amount of shoes on the wires. Could also be kids just thinking it’s cool knowing the history of it. 😡

If you take your washing machine (or dryer) apart, you might find missing socks behind the drum. My dad was a w/d repairman for Sears many moons ago and it is common to find small pieces of clothing that got sucked behind the drum. Socks, thongs, the padding from bras... he's seen it all.
Why do people put entire insulated lunch boxes/bag into the fridge at work? I put an icepack in my lunchbox to keep things cool.... or occasionally will take one item out of the lunchbox to put in the fridge.... but have never put the whole thing in the fridge.

Most insulated lunchboxes won’t keep things at a safe temperature until lunch time. I’ve had some that got me through my commute, but barely. The only one that had lasted until lunch is my Yeti, and that thing takes only entire work bag….

Also, it would be annoying to have to empty my lunch bag every day and then load it again when I'm done!
