Survivor started on Wednesday.
I’ve been following lots of TikTok folks, and many of us seem to have the same beef: quit casting super fans and the episodes are too long (my hill to die on).
CBS with all the red herrings is frustrating especially early on, just show us the real conversations between people. If you make the episodes drag on, show what’s actually happening instead of hoping for a gotcha moment. SM was certainly pissed at who went home!
I’m really starting to soil on this show, and it makes me sad. Why I care this much about a tv show, I have no idea! lol
I don't understand why they kept Andy over Jon. I feel like there is such a focus on trying to make the vote a surprise that they give us no context for what the actual dynamics are. There's a difference between building suspense as to who it will be, vs using all screen time to lead you in the wrong direction and leaving you with no information about the choice.
I have loved survivor since season 1, but agree with you that it has been less fun to watch in recent years.
I watched for the first time in maybe 20 years because I love Jon Lovett. I guess now I don’t need to watch anymore! It was so bizarre to me that he was the one voted out over Andy. I guess I don’t fully get the dynamics of survivor and thus wouldn’t do well on it

All I have to add is that when I see the name Jon Lovett, I picture Jon Lovitz. I didn't know who Jon Lovett was before this episode/thread, and I was really confused for a minute.
Also, I found Andy to be in-genuine in his hysterics, and I don't want to watch him all season.
I stopped watching when they went to 90 minutes. Not enough action to keep my attention.
As an OG watcher, I miss seeing them having to do stuff to survive in the jungle, not just look for idols. You know they have to be hunting for food, etc.

I think they just don't show that as much! They get very little food provided, and even less than they did before COVID.
I think I don't think about this show deeply enough, lol. None of these things bother me! I still like it just as much as I always did. I agree that Andy should have been an obvious vote and I am bummed Jon got voted out, though. I don't listen to his podcast but he comes off as very likeable and he is my age so I probably would have related to him more than most of these young ones.
