How many pairs/types of shoes does your kid have at any one time?
Brought to you by my DD1 wanted to go out in the rain this AM and getting her only pair of sneakers soaked. She has sandals and ballet flats but it got cold yesterday and I haven’t had a chance to buy her new boots yet. 🤦🏾♀️ Guess she’s going to have cold sandal feet today.
Shoes are so expensive and their feet grow so fast they usually only have 1 pair of sneakers at a time. Plus one pair flip flops, sandals (or boots in winter) and a fun shoe like the ballet flats.

My son wears one pair of sneakers on repeat. They will last most of the school year and then become his play pair. He also has winter boots and crocs in summer. Mostly he's in the sneakers.
His feet are huge, men's size 9 now at age 11.5, but they grow slowly so his shoes last most of the year.

DS has one pair of Sambas, one pair of running shoes, one pair of Crocs, one pair of Birks, and multiple pairs of cleats.
DD has a few pairs of dress shoes, one pair of converse, one pair of Adidas Court shoes, 2 pairs of running shoes, one pair of Birks, Ugg slippers (that she wears outdoors), and Teva type sandals that she only wears on the summer at work. And again multiple pair of cleats.
Neither will wear any sort of rain or snow boot.
We do have a boot dryer that we got mostly for ski boots but it gets used a ton with running shoes and cleats.

My kids each have 1 or 2 pairs of tennis shoes, ds has 2 pairs of slides (one for pool only apparently) and I will re-buy him a pair of dress shoes as needed if something fancy comes up (like if he decides to go to homecoming). DD had like 3 pairs of sandals and Crocs, and she also has a pair or 2 of fashion boots for in the winter (she usually wears to dance because they are easy to get on/off quickly). This year she wants Uggs I think so those will be a Christmas gift, but her pair from last year probably still fits, which is why she'll have 2. She might have a pair of booties for dressier outfits in winter, not sure if they still fit, but I wouldn't buy anything dressy for her unless she specifically asked. My kids' feet don't grow that much and they usually wear a pair for a whole year if not more. We also have friends whose kids are around the same age/shoe size, and if we buy a pair of shoes that doesn't work out, we often give to them/get from them. That is why DD has 2 pairs of tennis shoes this year, and she does alternate them.

Two girls, 6 and 7 and depending on the season
One pair of running shoe sneakers One pair of slip on sneakers Sandals/crocs Rain boots (although I don’t believe they currently fit) Brown or black booties Brown or black fake uggs White sandals Sometimes a ballet flat
This is what I struggle with the most with the girls. I know we could condense a little but man I get jealous of the boy moms with just one pair of sneakers, brown dress shoes and rain boots.
C’s feet don’t actually grow that fast, so he typically had one old pair of sneakers that still fits that he can wear for messy or wet stuff. These typically have a hole in the toe, sole starting to fall off, or are horribly dirty. Then a newer pair for school or whatever. And one pair of crocs that he wears any time he doesn’t absolutely need to be wearing sneakers.

DD's feet grow super slowly, so she has quite a few. She's been in a kids size 3-4 for about 3 years, so shoes I bought when she was in 3rd and 4th grade still fit in 6th. We have snowboots, rain boots, waterproof sneakers, 3-4 pairs of regular sneakers, 2 pairs of slide on sneakers, and a pair of dress booties. She won't wear crocs or sandals. She only has so many because her feet don't seem to grow all that much, so they accumulate as I buy her new shoes about every 6-8 months.
I game a boy and a girl. They have Crocs, sneakers, and snow boots in the winter. I have gotten them Keens or Teva sandals for water activities but they both seem to prefer their Crocs, usually.
DS age 10 - 1 pair of runners - 1 pair of Crocs/slides - 1 pair of waterproof hiking boots or snow boots depending on the season - 1 pair of "other" that could kind of pass as dressy for our very undressy lifestyle - currently black Vans that I found on clearance, but he's trying to talk me into Blundstones for fall/winter.
Sometimes he'll have an old pair of one of these kicking around if they still have some life left in them or I haven't passed them on yet. We stick pretty closely to a 1 in, 1 out rule because we don't have a lot of space for extras.
DS is 12 and has 2 pairs of sneakers, 1 pair of golf shoes, 1 pair of Natives, and 1 pair of slider sandals. He’ll get a pair of basketball shoes when basketball starts this fall (when the season is over, those turn into regular sneakers he can wear to whatever). We will also get him snow boots when we get closer to winter. He’s in size 11 (or 12, can’t remember) men’s shoes now (his feet are bigger than DH’s), but might finally be slowing down on how quickly he outgrows shoes.
DD is 8 and has too many shoes. Probably 3 pairs of tennis shoes, 1 pair of Natives, slip on sandals, flip flops, booties, ballet flats, and dressier sandals, soccer cleats, and golf shoes. And probably some others I am forgetting. She has some hand me down snow boots from her brother for when it snows.
Mine have one pair of black school sneakers (part of the uniform... Public schools have uniforms here), one pair of weekend/play sneakers, one pair of sandals (cheap/fake birks), and one pair of flip flops. DD also has a pair of hiking boots.

My daughter is 6 she has at any given time
-2-3 pairs of sneakers (would prefer 2 but she loves shoes and we always end up finding some on sale or cheap) - 2 pairs of boots (black and brown) - crocs - 2 pairs of sandals - 2 ballet flats that she wears mostly for play - snow boots when needed
She used to have to rain boots but we kind of back off from them because she hardly wore them.
Sandals, ballet flat and sometimes boots are from target, nothing fancy.
Next summer we will cut back to one pair of sandals. Between needing sneakers for camp and crocs for the pool she actually hardly wears sandals. I am lucky that her feet don’t grow super fast, she wears most sizes for a year or so. I shop sales, buy seasonal a bit large so they last a full season. As i mentioned above a lot of shoes she gets from target, we love the adidas outlet where we always find great deals.
I probably just jinxed myself and none of her shoes will fit soon.
This just came up for me today because DS1 runs cross country and his running shoes were “missing”. Surprise surprise, they were in his locker but he only realized this after I had gotten him a new pair. So now he has the two pairs of running shoes, two pairs of other tennis shoes, a pair of hiking boots, a pair of rain boots, crocs, and 2 pairs of soccer shoes, one with regular cleats, and one with turf cleats. The answer is too many shoes.
DS1 has two pairs of crocs, two pairs of sneakers, and rain boots.
His feet grow fast, so in the winter he typically only has sneakers that fit. We are in the south and it gets cold for a few months, but not enough that he needs winter boots.
1 pair outdoor sneakers 1 pair indoor sneakers for school 1 pair rain boots 2 pairs of fun, fashionable boots (these were from a trip this summer so not the norm that she has these) 1 pair dress shoes 2 pairs of cleats for soccer (regular and turf cleats)
ETA I did not know indoor shoes for school was a Canada thing until reading this thread.

Usually - 1 pair sneakers, maybe 2 1 pair sandals
In the winter they have boots and snow boots
DS has more this year because he’s about the same size as my mom. So she is getting him all kinds of shoes because she will take them when he outgrows them.
DS has 2 pairs of sneakers and 1 pair of crocs-knock offs.
He had an additional 2 pairs of sneakers in this same size earlier this year but he busted both of them. And I had paid more to buy them from Geox hoping they’d last longer than cheaper shoes. They didn’t.

For both my boys 10yo and 6yo they have 2 pairs sneakers (one we try to keep nicer), Crocs, water shoes, and snow boots. Not including any sports shoes.

Toddler is almost 2 and my partner is in charge of her clothes and shoes.
4 sneakers (we got 2 pairs when she first started walking and they still fit.) 2 pairs of sandals 1 pair of crocs 1 pair of "back to school" pink Dr martens boots
This question makes me weep. She has to keep a pair of tennis shoes in her gym locker. She needs "non street shoes" for basketball/volleyball. She needs everyday tennis shoes for school. So that's 3. Then she of course wants crocs and usually needs a pair of flats or sandals depending on the season. That's 5. Throw in boots and we're at 6. Also, she's 11 and already in a size 9.

DD: -Crocs -Ugg Tasmans -Converse high-tops -Aelfric Eden fashion sneakers -sneakers she wears to her hip-hop dance class -dressy shoes (mainly for band concerts) -winter boots

Hmm, more than I would have guessed before thinking about it, but not a lot. DDs are 11 and 14. As far as every day type shoes, they each have a pair on sneakers and a pair of croc style shoes. They do have some "specialty" shoes, they both have water shoes, hiking boots, and they have/will have snow boots probably. DD1 also has turf shoes for field hockey and cleats for soccer.
