1 athletic shoe for gym class/ school. They have gym every day, so this is their daily shoe.
1 pair slides, 1 pair boots for the winter. Lately, we haven't gotten that much snow, so I basically buy a pair of boots for maybe 3 days. At least, I don't really need to buy snow pants anymore.
We have some small pairs of slides that we need to go through and DD has a pair of crocs that she got for her birthday.

My teen has a lot because she asks for shoes as Christmas and birthday gifts. Her feet are also done growing. I think she has 6 pairs of sneakers. 2 Nike, 2 converse, vans, brooks running shoes Ugg slippers and fake Ugg boots 2 pairs of slides 1 pair of crocs Flat dress shoes 1 pair of heels 1 pair of dressy sandals Winter boots 1 pair of paddock boots for horseback riding that she also will wear if we are going somewhere muddy like a pumpkin farm or apple picking
11 year old has: 2 pair of sneakers, but one is getting small 2 pairs of slides 1 pair of dress shoes Winter boots I think that’s it. Oh, plus a bunch of dance shoes, but Is categorize that as sports equipment. lol
7 year old DD currently has: - sneakers for school (sometimes I keep a backup pair, but they almost always get donated to her cousin unworn) - crocs - rain boots - white dress shoes, worn once - black dress shoes, worn never - she needs winter boots, I just haven't bought them yet
Too many but her foot has stopped growing and we wear the same size shoe. She got 2 new pairs of tennis shoes in August, but we found a major store closing sale, so we got 2 pairs of Adidas for less than $50.
Slides, Crocs, riding boots, muck boots, fake ugg boots, dressy tall boots, converse, sandals, summer dressy sandals, and chunky healed boots. I'm probably missing some plus she has 2 old pairs of tennis shoes that are on their last legs.
my kid has 2 sneakers ("run" and jordans), natives and crocks that he can still wear on the weekends (not allowed at school) plus his shoes for various sports (2 pairs of cleats). He also has rain boots that he rarely wears. We need to get him snow boots this winter, as I think he has finally outgrown his from the last 2 years.

My kids need new shoes, so this will change shortly. I try to have 2 pairs of sneakers, either old and new or nice and cheap depending on how quickly they grow out of them, just for those situations. Happens a lot to us as we get into rainy/muddy season.
DS sneakers slides cleats snow boots
DD crocs birks 2 pair sneakers (school ones and camp ones) cleats boots couple pairs of dress shoes/sandals
Bogs - which he wears for all 4 seasons, despite being insulated.
Sneakers - usually just one pair of base model Nikes in his current size. Sometimes he has a second pair that’s been beaten up that we will keep for walks in the woods, etc.
Crocs - used for quick trips out of the house when running to grab the mail, and used all summer

My 6 year old: One pair of sneakers that fit her well. (She has two pairs that are a little too big on her) Four variations of boots-rain boots, cowgirl boots, pink boots and black boots Mary Jane’s (she specifically asked for those for her birthday and pretty much wears them every day it isn’t gym day.)
My six year olds foot doesn’t grow quickly-except for sneakers we tend to buy her other shoes cheaply on Amazon, Target, Walmart.
I would guess 10 pairs? She’s 12 and still in a child’s 3.5 so she tends to be able to wear shoes for a long time.
Off the top of my head:
Birkenstocks (she got these in 5th grade, she’s almost outgrown them) Fake Eva birks AF1s in white AF1 pandas A pair of running shoes A pair of hiking/trail shoes Ugg slipper shoes Ugg boots Wedge sandals Casual flat sandals
I tend to buy her name brand shoes bc she is typically able to get at least a year out of a pair of shoes. I used to have to replace shoes in the same size when she was younger, not fun.

My son has two pairs of waterproof trainers (he needs black for school and then I get him another pair for the weekend), crocs and what we call wellies that I think are rain boots (we live in Scotland so everyone has them!). We never dress up so no need for anything else
My daughter has a pair of sneakers, crocs and rain boots. Plus 10000 dance shoes at any given moment (less dramatically she has a few pairs of ballet slippers as she has multiple classes each week, jazz shoes, puffy overshoe things for her serious dance class and is about to get pointe shoes)
My 13 yo son has a pair of athletic shoes, a pair of athletic slide sandals, that he wore all summer outside no matter what we were doing, and refused to wear almost any other shoes, a cheap pair of brown flip-flops that can look nice enough to wear for a casual outfit going out to dinner or something in summer if we have to semi-dress up, and generally some kind of pair of dress shoes for holidays and stuff. Plus rain boots, and winter boots.
All the kids have winter snow boots.
I always keep their most recent older pair of athletic shoes to have a back up.
The girls (9, 11, 15) have a bunch of shoes. Probably too many! Each girl has athletic shoes, crocs, sandals, a couple of them have converse high tops, some Uggs, and various other specialty shoes. We have tons of hand me downs, so my youngest technically has a ton of potential shoes, but hardly wears any of them as many were dress shoes for various purposes over the years. My oldest is starting to amass more shoes because she’s not really growing out of them anymore. Also, she can wear mine.
