My parents are visiting in a couple of weeks, and want to go to Delaware since it's one of the states they haven't visited yet. I've really only driven through and been to the beach, so I'm not sure what else to plan to visit! We are near Baltimore (Howard county) so probably don't want to go super far to the east, but anything 1-2 hours from us is probably fine. We are probably up for anything other than strenuous hikes.
I am also thinking of taking a trip to St Michaels since I haven't even been there yet - any recs or suggestions for alternatives on the (closer to us) Eastern shore?
I know you said you don’t want to go too far east, but unfortunately, most of the nice stuff about Delaware is going to be on the east coast lol or farther north like Wilmington or Newark.
Fenwick Island and the park are very pretty and the beaches have cute little towns.
A day trip to either the Winterthur or Hagley museums would be fun and less of a hike than the shore. They both have large grounds to walk around in and events most weekends

Any recs for things to do in Wilmington? I think that's within the distance I would be ok with traveling! The shore is more like 3 hours so too far for a day trip, unfortunately.

My recs would likely be 15 years out of date, but a show at The Queen (https://thequeenwilmington.com/) if time works out would be fun. Otherwise, the riverfront and/or a Blue Rocks game, Trolley Square is a cute area, Winterthur or Nemours if you’re more into history type stuff.
Ok Winterthur looks perfect actually, I think we will probably do that! I had never heard of it, so I'm glad I posted. We can probably grab a meal in Wilmington on the way there and that will be plenty for a day out. Thanks all!

St. Michael's is SO cute. We went to MD's Eastern Shore for a trip during Spring Break a couple years ago. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency resort in Cambridge and took a day trip to SM. There's a nautical museum, we walked along the main street and went into the shops, and we had an amazing lunch at this little taco shop (Gina's Cafe www.ginascafemd.com/).

OMG. I 2nd this. We just went last weekend to see Bowling for Soup. Such a great show and an awesome venue!
The riverfront is ok - I haven’t been in years, though. Definitely Christiana Mall if you want/need to do any shopping. The place is massive, but SO busy on the weekends.
