I have not previously owned an apron. But we are almost finished redoing our kitchen and I went and bought all new towels, dishcloths, etc, and I bought an apron! So maybe if you were to ask this question in a few weeks, I'll have a different answer.
Same, except we are mid remodel, and it might be months.
I'm even thinking of changing my Le Creuset color.

Never. I had one and kept telling myself I would wear it, but I never remembered to so I finally got rid of it after like 15 years. This was after hosting multiple holidays too, but O clearly have a mental block that prevents me from remembering to wear one.
Pretty much nightly for dinner and if I'm baking. I have a couple but mostly wear an old stained white food service one because it's long and wide.
I have a drawer full of vintage ones from my mom's mother. I'm obsessed with the ones from the 1950s that were dressy and meant for entertaining.
This is funny bc I got my apron habit from my mom, who always wore one. She’s prob had dozens of aprons over her life but her favorite one is the one I wore at Pizza Hut when I worked there in the 90s. She said it’s the best soon she’s ever owned!
I am telling you, you don’t think you are getting dirty until you actually wear the apron. Since you don’t wash it daily, seeing what accumulates is eye-opening. Scent molecules alone make it worth it!

I have not but I have always thought I should because I am not a neat cook. I have an apron for work that I never wear because it makes me so hot but it is a thicker material.

I bought a nice one last year and am happy every time I remember to wear it, but it's not often. I'm not super messy, more just splatter and wipe my hand on it after washing them.
I voted never, but I have worn one when I was hosting thanksgiving because I was wearing something nice while cooking. I'm also fat, so finding an apron that fits is extremely challenging
Very rarely, but recently I was thinking about the total practicality of this and thinking I should wear one! I hate grease spritzing when sautéing stuff. Or getting flour all over while baking. Maybe I will start!
I've never damaged clothes cooking or baking. I will change into easily washable clothes for icing or bread baking but I'm a very tidy cook/baker and I clean up at each step. Pushing my sleeves up is enough. What are you guys making, lol?
I am more likely to get stuff on my sleeves, and it drives me crazy that aprons have so much more coverage on the bottom that is below my counters/stovetop. I really need the apron tops my grandmother wore with snaps, but also sleeves. In a pinch if I'm already dressed up and need to do something, I throw on a bathrobe.

You know how you have to wipe down the range hood or the microwave undercarriage after cooking even if nothing really splattered? It’s in the vapor produced by cookjng. Standing over a pan sauteeing something can def damage your clothes. Even a splash from pasta water can leave a stain bc of the starch in the water.
I swear I’m not anal. Like I said I never used to wear an apron. But now that I do and I’ve seen the difference I’ll never go back.
I always wear an apron when I cook, bake, or when I’m cleaning up from dinner. I have cute ones from Anthropologie that I wear. I’ve splattered myself one too many times to not wear one- I guess I’m just more chaotic in my cooking/cleaning than most lol
I usually only wear one around the holidays, because I'm either cooking a huge dinner and trying to clean up along the way, or I'm doing tons of dishes because my mom or BIL cooked. We typically dress up, especially on Christmas, so I don't want to ruin those clothes.
But every day? No. I don't care enough if I stain the old hoodie or Old Navy leggings that I wear most days.
Yes, because I always get food on myself and I hate stains. LOL
Lol! I rarely wear an apron. DH used to always encourage me to. He is and has always been the laundry-doer in our house, so this is probably why. I never made the connection!
Relatedly, what kind of voodoo to you guys use who rarely make a mess? I swear to God, opening a can of soup, I can manage to get some on me.

I am also very messy in general. I continue to wear the apron while eating and on many occasions have managed to drop something down the wisp of fabric below my chin before the apron starts. I need tips as well. I mean, any cooking whatsoever on the stove top has splatters!
If I win the lottery I’m sending everyone on this site an apron. I’m changing your lives.
I used to find aprons annoying until I grabbed a Japanese style one at Trader Joe’s a few years back and it is so much more comfortable, less fiddly and has coverage where I want it.

Because of this post, I wore an apron last night while making dinner and it was great. I was meeting friends later and didn't want to change again, so was perfect. No grease from cooking hamburger meat, tomato sauce splatters, no water across my shirt from doing the dishes and reduced the smell in my clothing. 10/10 recommend
