I wear an apron every single time I cook - every meal, even if I am wearing raggedy clothes or PJs. I never wore an apron until prob. my mid-30s. I cannot believe I was ever so precarious! How did I not ruin everything I own?

Never, but I usually change into more causal clothes and out of my nicer clothes. I'm also a pretty clean cook and don't tend to make much of a mess. If I am cooking something that will splatter, I'll dress accordingly. I like the idea of wearing an apron, I've just never gotten into it.

I have not previously owned an apron. But we are almost finished redoing our kitchen and I went and bought all new towels, dishcloths, etc, and I bought an apron! So maybe if you were to ask this question in a few weeks, I'll have a different answer.

No, never. I don’t even own one! I don’t think I’ve ever ruined any clothes while cooking. If I’m hosting, I will wait to change into my party outfit until right before guests arrive just in case, but I haven’t ruined my casual cooking clothes either.

Never. But I am much more likely to get food on myself when I'm eating than I am when I'm cooking. Too bad it's not socially acceptable for adults to wear bibs. The number of times I've had to change my shirt because I've dripped salad dressing on my boobs...

Once in a great while I will wear an apron, if I know it will be very messy (such as when I make yeast rolls at holidays) or if I'm frying bacon on the stovetop. I recently saw a Japanese-style apron on Amazon, and I am debating ordering it.

Not frequently, but I do wear one if I'm baking or if I'm cooking something particularly splatter-y. I will say though, I wear one just as much to have something to wipe my hands on as to keep me from getting stuff on my clothes.
Like expectantsteelerfan , I'm much more likely to drop food on myself when eating.
Not normally, but I will if I'm cooking something super involved/splattery or like Thanksgiving dinner where I'm doing hours of cooking at a time. Only a few times a year.
Also lavenderblue I used the word splattery, not noticing you used it just above...great minds
Normally I’m wearing my indoor clothes when I cook and I’m not too concerned about them. I’m not a messy person in general though! My husband needs an apron.

I voted "SS" because I'm a "most of the time" apron wearer. If I'm making something simple with minimal prep and/or H is grilling, then I don't. But if I make anything on the stovetop, I almost always put it on. I always wear it when baking.
H got me a Hedley & Bennett apron for Christmas a few years ago and I love it. It fits so nice and is very comfortable. It's still like brand new and even better now that it's been washed a bunch.
Only if I’m dressed up and cooking which typically only happens on holidays. Usually I’m in casual clothes and don’t care if they get messy (they usually don’t).

Never but I think because I never have I’m maybe more careful when I cook or if I do get a splatter I change and treat it immediately if necessary. I do have a kitchen towel handy that I use all the time when I cook and think it probably replaces an apron often.
My clothes are usually fine. It's the kitchen that can be a mess when I'm done, lol. However, always when baking with kids. I *will* get covered in flour by the end.
Depends entirely on how messy I expect the meal to be. If it's something simmering on the stove that may splatter - yes. If I'm baking - always yes. If it's frying an egg - no.

This is funny in my house. I wear a red apron to bathe our 10 lb dog in the kitchen sink. I have others but prefer the red to bathe him, so 100% of the time for dog baths. So, my dog, who is obsessed with following me around will see me in the red apron and run & hide.
