My husband knows that “her and I” isn’t correct but can’t quit it. Drives me insane. He’s quite intelligent in every other way but that is nails on a chalkboard.
Context: I grew up on an apple farm. I've spent enough time in orchards. Definitely not paying someone to let me do farm work.
Haha jinx! I used to be able to do the United Way Day of Caring as a "free" PTO day at work. It was a lot of fun. One of the most popular events was to work at a farm for the day, rain or shine. It filled up within a day or two. Good on the farm for getting some free help, but just made me laugh because people said they were SO exhausted after doing it.
Yes. Or the youngins that are eating out all the time, getting a latte everyday, getting their nails done, their hair blown out, etc., and complaining they aren't paid enough. Dear ones, I get that prices have increased substantially over the past few years, but the rest of us packed a lunch, made our own coffee or got it for free at work, and made sacrifices when we were just starting out in our careers.
DH had 18 year olds at his work who would Uber Eats their lunch to themselves every shift! They were probably only making minimum wage at a part time job, but they were also probably rich kids still living with their parents who made them get a job. There was also a cafeteria on site that served employees the same food as the gourmet restaurants for super cheap they could have eaten at.

OMG yes. I went with a friend once as a kid, and any time people ask if we want to now I'm like...why??? It's expensive, not actually very fun, and apples from the store taste just as good if not better (IMO).
FaceTime. I don't get it. I'm at home and don't want you to see me with my frizzy untamed hair wearing my very old t-shirt. Why do others think the default is to FaceTime video call everyone and anyone?
I can't believe there are people, adults even, who weren't born on 9/11. How can you exist now if you didn't exist then?
I saw a video where this little girl was baffled because she was trying to do her homework, which was to interview her parent about where they were/ what they were doing on 9/11, but the mom was a toddler and didn’t remember. She was like I was probably crying for my mom and some milk and the little girl was like can’t you make something up? My teacher won’t believe me! 😂 I think the teacher is going to have to stop assigning that soon. A parent born in ‘99 would be 25 and would have a 5-7 year old if they had them at age 18-20.
This assignment seems strange for a kid that young though. I would think that would be something for middle/high school history class.
That said the oldest I have ever felt was when a coworker, in a professional/college degree required job told me in 2019-ish that he didn’t remember Sept 11. He was alive but was toddler age and he learned about it in history class.
It’s probably the same way my parents feel about like JFK’s assassination but to me it’s so engrained in my brain, I feel like it JUST happened.
Why people keep associating cinnamon/clove/nutmeg with ‘pumpkin’ as if those spices have t been around for centuries and used together in foods long before ships connected the continents where those originate to the continent where pumpkins originate. Calling it ‘pumpkin spice’ is the ultimate modern colonizer appropriation.

This and really anything like this including pumpkin patches. I keep trying to like them, but I can't.
For sure. Getting dressed up in your fall sweaters and tall boots to go sit by a pumpkin when it’s still 94 degrees is freaking baffling to me. We went once. Never again.

How airplanes fly. It has been explained to me multiple times, physics, blah blah blah. But something that heavy doesn't seem like it it should take off from the ground and stay airborne.

Traffic circles. I get them in theory, kind of, but when do I go? When is it my turn? So confusing.
We have some tiny traffic circles in my area that cars are always messing up, and I finally figured out why. At a 4-way stop, you yield to the car to your right. At a traffic circle, you yield to traffic already in the circle, which are the cars to your left. Also if you're turning left at an intersection, you usually yield to oncoming traffic. At a small circle, though, going around the circle isn't that different from making a left turn, except it being a circle means you have the right of way. Circles and intersections can feel like opposite rules.

I have a good friend I've known for 20 years. She writes kinda instead of kind of. She knows that it's not correct (because I asked her in college), yet does it anyway. She also is intelligent and writes everything else correctly.
Most of our communication is via text these days because we don't live local to each other.

we switched to a toner printer from laser or other ink based options about a decade ago and will never go back (and still have that one).
For a home printer there is no comparison since the ink doesn’t dry out with infrequent use. It’s the opposite of before. Instead of failing to function when it should, it continues to print beautifully even when it thinks it won’t. We’ve gone for over a year on toner cartridges the printer thought were empty. I can’t remember the last time it a paper jam.
]I think someone here recommended switching to toner.
Why throw pillows all have giant, sewn in tags. What purpose do they serve? Why so big? Why can't you rip them off? Cutting leaves a short piece just sticking out of them, and I assume nobody wants their cute pillows to have these giant tags so why are they there?

I think kinda and sorta is acceptable text writing!

I had an opposite experience. I went to an apple orchard probably five years ago. They allowed us to eat one apple straight from the tree, without paying for it. It was a golden delicious. That apple was heaven. I'd never had an apple taste so good. I do agree about how expensive they are!

She wrote it in papers for college too; that's why I asked her about it at that time.

It's just a merge. Time your approach to fit a gap in your lane just like any other merge. They are SO much better than light managed intersections, but we need people to go when it's their turn!

a golden delicious from the tree lives up to its name and is nothing like the ones at the store.

People who write the word sammich. I have literally never heard someone say it that way. Even little kids say samwich. My SIL does this, and I want to smack her.
People conducting discussions on speakerphone in public.
It happens all the time and I feel like I'm on glue whenever I see it. Don't you care that I now know your true feelings about Jennifer and her lame baby shower? Or that you're going to meet up with Charlie at Red Lobster at 6:30? Do you not realize that you're the problem of noise pollution and lack of common decency?
This phenomenon is not only because of age or disability. It's too widespread.
I don't want randos to know my personal or my private business. Even if they can't contextualize it. Even if they don't care.

I think it's just my state, but I honestly don't understand how people think traffic circles are more efficient. I had a commute that was roughly 30 - 35 miles one way, but had to leave over an hour early because the traffic circle literally added 15 - 20 mins. Then you had tolls, which thank goodness they moved to an e-z pass system although I'd love to do away with tolls, but that's a whole different story.

Roundabouts are very common where I live and much more efficient because traffic doesn't have to come to a complete stop as much. Unfamiliar people do slow things down at times.
